This is a fantastic home. My father, who has dementia, has been for about 5 years. He is kept clean and well fed. He always comments about the good food. The place is spotless. All homes are expensive, but this one was no more expensive than other places in Knoxville. Plus, the cost of diapers is covered. My dad is a difficult man to manage, especially with dementia, but they do a beautiful job with him. Most rooms are dual occupancy with a twin size bed, closet, and chest for each resident. He never participated in many activities, but before COVID, he did get to go on field trips. He usually attends church service onsite as well.

They don’t have enuff staff ! And most of the residents need assistance getting out of bed !! Most residents lay in bed all day !! And if they are so busy they don’t have the time to help feed the ones who need help !! Please check before putting your family member here !! The deserve the best care !!!

Most caregivers were caring but believe they are just overworked. My mom was there due to a stroke and was not able to talk. She ended up in the hospital while there due to neglect and she could not recover. Family was there most of the time but we assumed all of her needs were being taken care of and didn’t ask enough questions. Ask to see the chart, read throughly and never feel bad to question the care or lack of it. The therapy sessions were excellent. She had a feeding tube so can’t give a rating on food. The activities lady in the back wing was very sweet to her and tried to include her in activities. The facility is very nice with outdoor walking and sitting areas.

This is a model facility. So impressed with everything they do. Nurses and everyone there are top notch and I cannot say enough good things. They have daily events and keep the residents engaged when possible. The day I took my father there birthday celebrations were taking place with live music and an ice cream social. The rooms are spacious, staff friendly and professional. If your loved one is a veteran you don't need to look any further. Just take a tour and you will see that this facility is second to none.

I liked Senator Ben Atchley State Veterans' Home. It was nicely settled and the landscaping was pleasing. As I entered, I had a good feeling about it. It was not ostentatious design-wise, but more on the practical side.

My relative was very mistreated at this facility. There would be as much as an hour and one half wait from the time a request to go to the bathroom and the time they got to go. No one was hardly ever on the hall and some patients doors were keeped closed so they could not be heard. There was an overly lack of caring at this facikity. The more a patient needed care the less they got. The ones who could tell how they were treated were treated well so they would not tell. Do not take your veteran here!

My father together with my mother stayed at Senator Ben Atchley State Veterans' Home for almost two years. The staff were helpful and wonderful. The care they gave was above and beyond my expectation. We were very pleased with the facility.
