"My Dad spent the last 4 years of his life here. He dad Parkinson's disease so it was impossible for me to care for him at home. There was a group of 6 residents who shared lunch and dinner in the common area on their floor. They were very close knit. The staff loved my Dad. In fact, several of them came to the memorial service we had for him in the chapel at Shannondale. I could not have been more pleased with Shannondale! "

"West Hills Health and Rehab is not pretty. It's an old building, but the staff is amazing. She has not gotten this good care anywhere, including the hospital. The food is good. She can open the windows in her room when the weather is nice. They have activities posted. They go out once a month and they play bingo and do sing-alongs."

"The physical therapy staff at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center is excellent, very patient, and work with individuals to try to maximize their ability to do functional movements. It is in a hospital, and Dad is in a private room. There is a movie theater, a community room, a physical therapy room, and an occupational therapy room with exercise equipment. "

"My mother is at NHC Place Farragut right now. We really like it a lot. The only thing that seems to be a little bit of an issue is that there’s carpet all throughout. My mother is in a wheelchair and she’s had a stroke, so only one leg and one arm work. It takes a lot of strength to go up and down the halls, but they always have nurses and assistants willing to help her get wherever she needs to go. The room had a big window so she could see out, and the grounds are excellent and beautiful around the assisted living. She gets to choose from a menu, so she could eat different things every day. They have an option for breakfast and a set menu for lunch and dinner. Several of the nurses there always pat my mother’s hand or give her a hug or kiss her forehead. It seems to be very important to them and they relate to that. One day, I couldn’t get hold of my mother. She turned her phone off, so I tried to call her up until 7:00. The rehab side answered and sent me to the nurses’ station and no one answered, so I left a message but never got a call back. One night, she had to go to the hospital. She had fallen and it was her fault because she tried to get up by herself which she was not supposed to do. Once the hospital got ready to send her back, they had a hard time getting in touch with someone at the facility. "

"My uncle was here for 5 years. He loved it, loved the church service, activities, food, staff everything. He said he was not going back home. Yes there is a slight problem with staff, they dont keep call light within reach or keep the water mugs filled (so a lot of uti's) but overall no regrets with him living his final years at NHC Ft Sanders. I never hesitate at telling the staff how I felt when something was not right, and they fixed it. No problem Would recommend "

"The staff are very warm and friendly. Great relationships were made while I was here. Food was great. Activity director really understood my needs. I even got to paint and get a manicure! "My grandfather is a resident at the Saint Mary's NHC Healthcare Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He has been there for five years now and I usually visit him three or four times a week for about two hours each visit. I am really quite impressed with the service of the assisted living facility. They are very kind to my grandfather and give his medications and food on time always. He suffers from many illnesses, but it in really good care at NHC. The place is always very clean and nice and the staff is very friendly. They have a piano, t.v. and snack area in the lounge area for the elderly people that are there. I have seen other places like NCH, but none were this good. I trust them to care for my grandfather, and I believe that his health is improving a little. Some places that I have seen tie down people to the beds, give food and medications late, keep the place to hot or cold, and fail to help the residents keep proper hygiene. Some assisted living providers let the people soil their clothes and diapers, and they don't care to change them. Others heavily medicate the residents even if there is no need to do so. I am satisfied and happy with the way I have seen NHC take care of my grandfather. I know my grandfather does not have much more time left on this earth, but I honestly believe he is in a place where it will be the most comfortable for him when it is his time to go and pass on to the next life. I think that it is very good that such places like NHC Healthcare exist where people are goodhearted, kind, and professional. When I get old or sick, I believe I would like my family to take me to NHC to live as one of their residents. I know I would be comfortable there. "

"Holston Health & Rehabilitation Center is nicer than other places we visited. My father-in-law seems to like it better and the food is better. They provide pretty good care. His room has two beds because he has a roommate, a bathroom, and a TV. The senior place is clean and looks really nice. The staff members seem really friendly, know what to do, and do a good job. There's a library, recreation room, games the seniors can play, church services, and other activities. It looks really nice. There's always room for improvement with regards to the food."

My father has been in several skilled nursing facilities in many states. This one is, by far, the best I have seen. Better than all the others that the VA is willing to work with."

"We went to Baptist Health Care Center. The people were friendly. I thought they were straightforward, and I had no issues with the staff in terms of how they treated us. When you walk down the hall, you can see the interactions with the residents, and that felt really positive. However, the amenities weren't quite the same as a newer refurbished facility. "

"Beverly Park Place Health And Rehab-Hillcrest is very competent. It does not smell when you first walk in like some nursing facilities do. It is very clean. The staff is very friendly and very nice. We were probably there 2 to 3 times a week to visit my mother and so we see them regularly. They all know us and they speak to us when we come in. They keep us up to date about anything that we need to know. We've been there when she's had dinner and the meals looked really good. She does activities, too. They play bingo, have a manicurist come in and do their nails, and a beautician that they can get their hair done."
