"It was very nice. They decorated it for Christmas at the time. We saw the ground floor where the meals were served. There's an elevator and we went up to the second floor to see one of the rooms and they were very nice. They have a really neat movie room where people can have movie nights on a big screen (that was cool!) They also exercise and have pedicures and manicures. All the rooms had microwaves, but three meals a day were served."

"We’re moving in about a week to Park Place of West Knoxville. It doesn’t feel like a nursing home, and it didn’t make me want to break down and cry. It’s not fancy, but it’s sweet and very friendly, and there is enough activity level. Gina -- the program coordinator and marketing person -- has just been extremely helpful. Everybody is not in a wheelchair; some are using walkers. I liked it because my dad is in a little better situation than my mom, and I didn’t want him to go down. I just feel like it’s a right fit for my parents. It’s very close to my house, so I’ll be able to come and go, but I’ll know they’re safe. Every time I’ve gone, whenever they’re cooking, the meals always smell good, so that’s encouraging. We stayed for one of the programs yesterday, and it was so good. It turned out to be a friend of ours who was doing the photography program for them, so just things like that I know my parents will enjoy. They drive you; they take you to lunch. On Thursdays, they go shopping once a week to Turkey Creek or to a few different stores. What I liked about it, too, was it wasn’t just moving into a room. It’s moving into a small apartment, and they still have a kitchen. "

"Parkview West Knoxville is a new place. It was about four years old and it's more plush. It has a movie theater, a bistro, and a pub. It's got tons of stuff and a lot of amenities. They have 100 rooms. They have a beautiful courtyard. You can pay extra for a patio and the patio is like 8 x 10, it's covered and it's gorgeous. It's nice. They do a continental breakfast in the morning in their bistro. You go down and pick it up or you can eat it there. And then you go to the dining room for dinner and there's a menu that they publish. And then you can buy lunch, but it's $5 instead of $3. The girl who gave us the tour was nice, but you could tell that she didn't know any of the residents. She was a salesperson, and that was her job. But in the other place, everybody knew each other. Their menu is a little bit more high-end. The whole facility is more high-end. So it's a newer facility with more amenities, and they reflect that in the price, which seems reasonable."

"I liked the open floor plan at The Villages of Farragut and the fact that each unit had either a screen porch or a sunroom. The marketing person was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable, gave a very thorough tour, and contacted a couple of people so that I could see their units. The living atmosphere seemed to be very pleasant."

"Shannondale Knoxville was a nice place but it was way too expensive for us. We were kind of in a vestibule area, everything was kind of on lockdown at the time. From where I came in, it looked very clean and very modern. I was greeted nicely. I didn't have an appointment so that kind of caught them off guard, but I was greeted by very friendly staff and we just sort of discussed things. I just happened to be in the area and it looked nice from the outside, that's why I pulled in. And they have available spots. They were super friendly and very accommodating to me, considering I just showed up. They are very nice and volunteered the information that they did. As far as the visual appeal and everything that I saw, the place was very friendly and inviting, and then the staff was the same way -- they were very nice, very accommodating."

"I think the main reason that I chose The Lodge at Shannondale was that it has a swimming pool. I like to do water aerobics and stuff like that, and they do have that there. They also have a physical therapy department. They have a lady that comes in and gives you a massage. If you want this, you have to pay extra. They also have a podiatrist that comes in every three months. They have a coffee shop. The rooms are very nice. They have three different one-bedrooms, and they have two-bedrooms. You pay a membership fee first, but then your monthly payment is lower than the other places that I visited. The staff was so friendly. Everybody was just so friendly, had smiles on their faces, and just very nice. They introduced themselves to me, and that was very good. The rooms were fairly spacious. They either have a patio or balcony. I have a dog, and dogs are allowed. They have a dog park there, too. They have a nurse on staff 24 hours. If you need help with your medication, they will help you. There is a call button in the room that you press every morning to let them know that you're out of bed. There's a lot of security there. There's a chaplain on staff. I really like all that. The room was very nice. This is a positive thing to me, but you don't have a stove or a cooktop in the room. You have to go get your meals, and I think that makes you more social; you don't just sit in your room. They have a microwave and a convection oven."

"We went to Prime West Knoxville. It was great. The woman who gave us the tour was very excited about the place, she's been there since they opened. They have a lot of facilities inside and outside. They even have a putting green. They did have a, I wouldn't call a swimming pool, but it's one of those pools that you can either sit in or swim in, there's a treadmill in the pool. They call it an aquatic treadmill. You can take advantage of that. They have their own theater. We liked it. The apartments were beautiful, but the way that place had just been decorated was different. It was more industrial kind, in grays, and it was just not as warm feeling as the other place. The people that we talked with there seemed happy to be there. The people that were working there that we talked with were proud of what they did there. They have a big greenhouse thing, where they grow a lot of their food with hydroponics. It's pretty cool, we liked the place. They do have activities where you can go out, they have that putting green. They do allow pets in their apartment, so there's a place for the dog to get out in the same area where the greenhouse is, an enclosed place, a little dog park. This is probably second on the list. One of the things that they also said, is that they encourage people to come and spend a weekend or even a week in one of their extra rooms just to see what it feels like. It's a great idea."

"I moved to Broadway Towers. I like it because the people are friendly, and it's like a second home. The neighbors are friendly. It's just like a big family. It's all completely furnished with appliances and even a washer and dryer. They do occasionally have get-togethers down in a community room, where all of us make meals and gather. There are a lot of places around for shopping, and I like that, too. The staff is very friendly and nice. They do have activities, but I don't participate a lot in that, but you can go down to the game room and play cards."

"I moved in and it is great. The staff is wonderful. They have a library, they have an exercise room, and they also have a lady that comes around and assesses you, and if they think that you need to go and get some exercise or physical therapy. I know they have bingo, and they have wine night. They also have planned trips, and if you have a doctor's appointment, they will get you there and back here again. I think they have a piano bar once a week, and I think they have like singalongs. They have a patio area, a courtyard, and they have a front porch; it's very nice."

"My favorite is Parkview Senior Living because it's clean and they take care of everything for you. They provide two meals a day plus they have a theater and lots of extra things. I have seen their one-bedroom, but I'm waiting for a two-bedroom to open up. They have a lot of things going on there, they have a lot of activities, and it's just a wonderful place. It just sounded like a very good place, they seemed to take care of their residents, and it was very clean."

"Asbury Place is in my town, and I have always known about it. We started off at assisted living, but my mother-in-law wasn't functioning well enough, so she is in a nursing facility right now, but when she gets stronger, maybe she can go back to assisted living. I was happy with it, but I hate that it was so expensive. The room was very nice, and I was happy with it, but the nursing home was kind of stinky. The assisted living did lots of activities. They play games, and they have church on Sundays. They have a lot of outings too. I was very pleased with the staff, but it needs to be not so expensive though. "

"My father and mother were both residents at Shannondale Health Care in Maryville. I can not say enough good things about the staff of nurses at the facility. They are true professionals and go over and above the call of duty to care for the residents. I would recommend Shannondale to anyone looking for a place for a family member. "
