"Roberts Health Center is a smaller facility, so there was a lot of individualized care. It was more home-like and not as institution-like. The people seemed very responsive, the place was clean, and everything seemed quite appropriate there. "

"My dad is happy with Village House staff, so they must be doing well. They're very helpful. The rooms are very nice. It overlooks a pond. My dad knows some of the people there. If he knows someone there, then that makes me feel more comfortable. They order food out, and they have party luaus. There's a bunch of people who work there who I went to school with. "

"St. Clare Home was nice. They just didn't have any space available. It was very clean, and the people were very friendly. They had a chapel. The staff during the tour was nice, helpful, and honest. The residents were playing a game on the Wii machine when I was there."

It's set next to Green End Pond and a few minutes from Easton Bay, which makes it a great choice for seniors who enjoy nature. "My mother has been at Grand Island Nursing Home for about six months now. Overall, there have been very few problems. The staff are attentive and I feel really treat my mother well. Grand Islander is bright and cheerful, and is a overall happy place to visit. My only concern is that they seem to have a very low staff/resident ratio. However, most of her needs are met on a timely basis. The majority of the staff working with the residents are really outstanding, and seem to care greatly about the residents. I chose this facility out of all of the ones I visited, and would recommend Grand Islander to any family. "

"My sister had stayed at Forest Farm for her rehab, and she was very happy there. In fact, this is the reason why we even investigated sending my mother there. The care was very good and she said the food was fantastic. It looked like a very nice place, and her room was very big. But then again, that could have been because it was rehab and when you go for rehabilitation, you are not necessarily in the same wing that you would be for the long term care. Medicare rated them very high as well. It was very clean, and she had no issues. She said that anytime she needed help, they were right there to help her. She didn't have to wait or anything, so she was very happy with the service. "

"Saint Elizabeth Home was on the cutting edge of nursing care to make the place feel more like home. There was a full working regular home-style kitchen in the center. If they're doing well enough, they can cook for themselves and get coffee any time of the day. They have their own food in their refrigerator, their own room, and own bathroom. It didn’t have the heavy-handedness of a nursing care, and it didn’t have a central nursing desk. It very much did not look like a hospital. Each room had the contraptions installed along the ceiling that can help lift people who can't get in and out of wheelchairs themselves, and there were call buttons everywhere. There were two CNAs for each house and one or two nursing staff for all five houses. It was a full-service nursing care but felt much more like a home, and it was very new."

"I stayed here for rehab after my hip replacement three years' ago. I was treated so well that when my mother needed an intermediate care facility after a major surgery that required more intensive care than I, I didn't want her to go anywhere else. She has been there for three weeks now, and neither of us could be more pleased with the care she is receiving. "

"My father is in a nursing home in the dementia unit. He is in Coventry Center. The facility is probably more than he needs, but there aren’t a whole lot of options because he’s got to be on Medicaid and he needs to be in a locked unit because he forgets where he is. Nevertheless, they’re very good. The staff is very attentive to everything he needs. My father is cared for, he is secure, he is safe, and he seems to be happy there. They have really taken good care of him. He has gotten the best care and the most attention there of all the facilities he has been in since June. "

"The Staff is ALWAYS willing to listen to you cares and concerns. They act on them and take the time to get to know your family member. They pay attention to how my mother is doing and order tests to make sure they are doing well...they take calls and give needed information to help insure things are going well. The rooms are a bit small but the place is very clean. They do the laundry and make sure clothes are cleaned and marked with my mother's name. One of the staff knew my mother loved chowder and clam cakes and very kindly brought it back to my mother as a surprise...it made her day."

" We cannot say thank you enough for the incredible job they did caring for our mother after a stroke until she passed several weeks later. Their care and concern for her was evident every time you went into her room. From our first phone call and meeting with Laurie, director of nursing, we had a feeling this was absolutely the right place for our mom to finish her beautiful life. The nursing team treated her like she was their grandmother- holding her hand and caressing her cheek when they talked with her. The food service team made even pureed food look appetizing and it always smelled delicious! The housekeeping and laundry team always made sure her room was clean and her pajamas were fresh. The admin team helped with the business end of what is often complicated. The hospice team are truly angels on earth. They always greeted us the moment we walked in the door, answered our questions and asked how we were and could they get us anything. They helped our family with probably the most difficult few weeks we have had by treating her with grace and dignity. This team made a very hard job look easy. "

"My stay was very nice. Everyone was wonderful. Evan, my social worker has made me feel comfortable and has helped me along the way. If I had to return in the future I would. "

"We are residents of Summer Villa. It has a yard. During the summer, they plant vegetables there. It has a driveway, and they put tables, chairs, and umbrellas for the summer. You can go there and eat on Thursdays for lunch, usually. As far as the upkeep, I upkeep my own room because I don't want anyone in my room, but there is a woman, her name's Maria, she does the cleaning, and she works really hard. There's a medtech and a nurse during the day. Then at night, there's medtech for the next two shifts. Everyone seems okay. They take us to Walmart twice a month. They also take people to other places, like bowling, the pool, and the beach. Every week, we play bingo, we do arts and crafts, and then there are other games that they do, like trivia. They have a musician come in once a month, and she is very good. They were having a gentleman for yoga, but I don't know if he's still coming. So, we're pretty well taken care of. They find things to do, but people don't want to do them. The food is ok. Sometimes it comes out burnt, and sometimes it comes out raw or cold. They have a microwave that you can use to warm it up. If you don't care for what they're serving, you have to go talk to the chef, and he has alternatives. They have ice cream every Saturday night. There is dessert or snack time at 7 pm every night. I don't know what they cost, but they take our disability checks. Medicare covers whatever. I guess it's worth it."
