Memory Care Communities in Warwick, RI

"My father-in-law is in Atria Bay Spring Village. It's beautiful. The grounds are kept beautifully. There are tons of greenery and flowers and a nice little wood-lined area. The inside is very clean and up-to-date. The staff is very helpful and very friendly. They have a calendar of activities, daily music, daily exercise, daily news, and a walking club. He is in an apartment all by himself, but the rugs were brand new. Everything's very clean and meticulously done. It looked great. He's got a beautiful view of the outside landscaping and they keep it clean as well. We've gone there a couple of times and it's always smelling good and everything's always very neat and orderly."

"Dad is at Brookdale Centre of New England. He was in assisted living for a year and we had some issues with the management of medications. I felt things weren't charted or written down properly or completely enough. So, if there's a resident who has meds from the VA. and they can't get them free from the VA, they're not calling the VA and getting them ahead of time. Instead, they're calling the local pharmacy and then asking the family member to pick up the medication OR they wait until the medication is completely out and then inform us that the medication is out when they're supposed to do it like 8 to 10 days ahead of time. So, I found that that was a little tough. Other than that, they've always been good with my dad. They've always made sure that he gets to his meals and his clothes are clean. Any time that there was ever an issue, they always got on it immediately. Communication between the nurses and myself was always good. I could always reach out and get help no matter what. My dad loves it there actually. They have a daily calendar every day for activities. He went to the movie center all the time to watch movies, they had Bombshell Betty who was an actress and she'd come and sing, and Tiki Tuesdays, which he loved. A family member could go with him if there weren't any COVID concerns. So, that was always fun."

"Anchor Bay at East Providence was very nice. It was a beautiful place and everything, I just didn't like that you have to furnish it yourself, and then they had that $3500 one-time fee you have to pay upfront. If you have to pay that, then your monthly thing, and then you have to buy all your furniture, I just think it's a little too much right now. All the staff seemed very nice, and even the residents that were there seemed nice. There were activities. There were some games that they were playing. The size of the rooms was good. We saw the dining room and the kitchen. It all looked very nice. It was well maintained. "

"I toured Anchor Bay at Pocasset. I thought it was very nice and had a lot to offer, but it was just a terrible time and an inopportune time for me to make the move. The people were very nice, very cordial, and very welcoming. The lady that gave us the tour was terrific. There seemed to be quite a few activities, I'm not interested in any of the activities, but from what I understood, there were quite a few to offer."

"Wingate Residences on the East Side was very nice and very much like a hotel. The staff was very attentive to our tour and very nice. It seemed like they had a daily schedule of nice activities to do, like a pool and exercise program in an exercise room. "

"We chose Capitol Ridge because it was recommended by Caring.com and somebody called and gave me the details. Then, someone from Capitol Ridge came and checked my mom if they could provide her needs. The staff were very friendly, kind and they knew everybody's name. The rooms were very big and spacious. They had different activities like field trips, concerts, physical fitness programs, and many more. There was also a room where they watched sports programs, a library where they were taught how to use the computer. The food was also very good and she liked it very much. My mother was very happy there. "

"The Highlands on the East Side was similar to the other place we went to. They use their own staff, they don't go outside for extra help. The rooms were a good size, we got a nice tour. They were having lunch while we were there, but we didn't eat. The patio area was nice, where they could sit outside and stuff. So I did like that facility. The staff was very nice. There was a nurse that did an assessment to see where my mother's cognitive level was and stuff, and that was helpful. Everything was very clean. I think the staff was interactive with the residents, and also with us as we were going through."

"I toured Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard. Driving into the facility, I looked at it and I had questions about it because of the curb appeal. It looks like an old brick building, but as soon as you enter, it is very nice. The staff was very nice. One thing I do remember about that location, is they have a memory care unit, so if it was determined my mom had dementia, they have facilities to handle that. And it is a locked-down floor in the building, so you have to have code access to access that area. They showed me around, and I saw a chapel, a hairdressing salon, and an exercise room, which were very nice. I met a couple of the residents, and they seemed to be very happy. At the very end of the tour, they showed me a room that they had set up. It was a room where residents could get on to like Zoom or Skype or something like that to see their family. It had a nice computer and big monitors, so they could see their family, and I thought that was a very nice idea. The accommodation was very similar to what I saw. I saw one room like a hotel room. They have both fully furnished as well as unfurnished. Their price was a little bit more expensive, and that's the only thing. Because of the memory care facility that they have, that is very nice indeed. If someone needed it, that would probably be a place to go, but the prices were a little bit to swallow."

"We toured Smithfield Woods Senior Living. The location was paramount for us because it's close to where my son lives, and we thought the facility would serve all of our purposes. They all come equipped with a fridge and microwave. The staff was very knowledgeable and personable. The building was almost to the point where you would think it was fresh, like brand-new."

"Brookdale Sakonnet Bay felt very welcoming. Even though it was a much larger place, it felt very comfortable. There were lots of spaces for people to walk around inside as well as outside. It was well thought out. The rooms were very nicely laid out and they looked very pleasant. The bathrooms were well laid out and safe for a person with limited mobility. I was very impressed with it. Everybody that we met during the tour was very pleasant. Everyone was very gracious and forthcoming with answers and seemed very happy to be there."

"Apartments are oversized. Decorated nicely. Food is delicious."

"The tour I had at Brookdale Attleboro was great. The staff was really friendly. We met someone at reception. She met us right away then she introduced us to Karen, the director of admissions. We got a tour of the common areas and I thought they were beautiful. I was very, very impressed with everything, including the landscaping outside the building and when you first walked into the entrance (the reception area). I thought the dining room was beautiful. They showed us another room where families could kind of gather and everything about it was very nice. If that was within our budget, I would have been very happy to send my dad there. I think that would have been my first choice. We talked to Karen for about 45 minutes and even after she found out that that was not going to be an option for us, she still just gave us so much more information to help us make a good decision for my dad that was so helpful. We got a lot of invaluable information from her. So I appreciated that. They offered coffee and water when we walked in, which I thought was very nice, but we declined."

"My mom moved into All American Assisted Living at Wrentham. I chose it because it was like the first one I went to, it was close to my house, and it was very clean. Everybody there is awesome. My mother has not complained about the food. She eats every meal. There's a lot of activities. They give a flier every day and they do them all day long. They do exercises, bingo, bowling, arts and crafts, and puzzles. They play games, like a Jeopardy type thing."

"I went to see the assisted living facility of All American Assisted Living at Raynham. The residents were all very mobile, except for the people who were all asleep on the front porch in the rocking chair, which was absolutely awesome. They were out there enjoying the sun, and it was one of those nice warm days in October, so most of them were asleep. Everybody was taken care of, and everything just looked perfect. The decor was wonderful. I'm sure they hired somebody really wonderful to do the matching of the decor, because it works. They had everything you'd ever want. They had rooms for physical fitness, art, playing games, reading, and just about anything you could think of, and they had a place for it."
