Bayview Rehabilitation at Scalabrini is a beautiful community. It's very clean. There are wild animals like deer that roam around and turkeys. It is very peaceful and very nice. My mother is in a double room, so it's for two people, and it's pretty big. There's a chance for privacy, and the bathroom is nice. The nursing staff and the CNAs that take care of my mom are very, very good, caring people. They have a mass that anyone can go to, they have a priest that comes around, they have bingo, they have a hairdresser and a hair salon. She eats in her room, and the food is OK.

My mother was there recently for rehab after surgery. She had medical issues that needed to be addressed while there. The PT and OT girls were fabulous! They were caring and attentive. I can't say the same for some of the nurses and CNAs there. I witnessed first-hand how they treated my mother like a client and not a human being. Having a little compassion goes a long way and some of the nurses and CNAs need to learn this. We did have some nurses that were kind. I don't feel like the staff communicated well with her or our family. Getting any information from them was like pulling teeth. Every time we asked a question, they seemed to get defensive. They also had terrible follow through. There were several times where we brought up problems we were having and they said they would look into it, but that wasn't the case. It was as if when they walked over the threshold of my mother's room, they forgot all about her. Very disappointing.

Impressed to see nursing curling residents hair or giving haircuts. Observed dietary asking for daily choices on menus. I appreciated the returned phone calls from the department heads. Main driveway could use cheering up but inside the facility including the complimentary coffee in the lobby is very nice.

My mother is in the memory unit of Scalabrini Villa. The staff is fine, and it appears very nice and probably the cleanest that I've seen. It's right on Narragansett Bay, near the wildlife in a peaceful setting. They have a lot of different activities every day of the week. They had a gala for the 4th of July. The food is good.

Scalabrini looks lovely. Beautiful fish tanks, a "Therapeutic Garden", a lovely chapel. Except for the chapel, these things are for the benefit of a welcoming presentation for marketing and future residents. It cannot be observed who the Therapeutic garden is benefiting, or the beautiful grounds. There are rarely residents present and no structured or supervised outdoor social or recreational activities. The residents have a difficult time accessing the garden because it is not level and the gate is awkward. A lovely, but an expensive, unused space. The care is inconsistent, especially 2nd and 3rd shifts and weekends and dependent on a few excellent senior staff, RN's and CNA's. Staff turnover, as always, is a concern for continuity of care. It is superior to many places but priorities appear confused. Typically, BINGO is overused. Thankfully, in our case, the women seem to have more to do. More detail to resident personal hygiene would be welcomed. Residents are unusually quiet, little disruptive behavior, and appear to be "healthier" than most places that we have been. Air quality is stifling in spots, detrimental to staff and residents. Menu needs to be reviewed and updated, many items do not seem appropriate or beneficial for seniors. Breakfasts' are good. Rooms, especially private ones are decent sizes. Mother does have friends and favorite staff.

I stayed here for rehab after my hip replacement three years' ago. I was treated so well that when my mother needed an intermediate care facility after a major surgery that required more intensive care than I, I didn't want her to go anywhere else. She has been there for three weeks now, and neither of us could be more pleased with the care she is receiving.

I liked Scalabrini Villa because they had daily mass in their chapel. It was a good fit for my aunt because she is a very religious lady. The nuns lived on the property and they strolled through with the patients. The grounds and everything were beautiful. It was clean. Everybody was wonderful. She had vision problems, and I don't see her being participative at all in puzzles and in other activities that I saw in other places. However, I thought they had a smell. All the nursing homes that I visited had that, and I don't know how they could fix that.

In my opinion the staff was not attentive enough to all the patients and many mistakes were made during my grandmothers stay, one of which resulted in her falling and breaking her hip. They left her in a wheelchair in the hallway all day long and ignoring her while she yelled and when they put her in bed they forgot to put the bed rails up and she fell out of bed and broke her hip. Would not recommend this nursing home to anyone.
