Nursing Home Communities in West Chester, OH

"I was a little disappointed with Mason Christian Village because they only have independent houses. It's a beautiful place, but I'm more interested in living in the independent living in the apartment-type thing. The girl who showed us around was very nice, accommodating, and answered all of our questions. The house I saw was large, with a living room, dining room, and a kitchen. It was very nice, but it was not what I was looking for. It was a huge facility and they had a library, dining room, and a lounge. We passed several rooms where people were playing card games and there was an exercise room, so there was quite a bit going on."

"My aunt was having trouble getting by on her own. Taking care of her place and being able to do the necessary things she needed to do to have a good life on her own. We visited this facility and found that it really has everything you would want in assisted living. The people living there are well cared for and there are a lot of incentives to keep people there active, healthy, and happy, which are very important to both her and us. Some of the things that people can do there are tennis lessons, indoor swimming, and lots of social events. The staff is very friendly and doctors are on site in case of any emergency. It's kind of a bit far from the nearest hospital, but there are urgent care facilities that are very close. If the hospital distance isn't an issue I can't recommend this place enough. She has been very happy and her happiness is what is really important to us. "

"I first visited this facility back in January of last year when we were looking for a place for my grandma. We were very impressed with the facility and the staff that helped guide us around! In the end, we decided to go with Doverwood and so happy we did! There is lots to do here and they always have my grandma busy! She loves to watch animal planet and the staff knows it! Every time we come to visit they have it on for her, so thoughtful! She really enjoys the food and community all together. It is so nice just seeing her happy and healthy. We know she is being taken well care of and that is really what matters to us the most! "

"Mom has been with Mason Health Care Center for quite a while and doing quite well. The place is very clean. I think they're probably a little short-staffed like a lot of places that I've seen (we've been through a few places), but they managed. I think the nurses are very good. They do pretty well with the activities, external and internal. They have bingo and different events, and they also go out to places. The only negative is their food. They need a cook, a chef, or somebody who knows how to put food groups together. Sometimes they don't even have food in the full food groups. They just put something together that doesn't make sense. Mom might get pasta, jello, and pie or something like that at dinner. You need your proteins."

"The visit to Hawthorn was very good. The whole facility is very nice, and the inside is very clean with no odors. The outside and the gardens were great. The memory care section, which would be for my dad, seems really good. We were very impressed with the staff and the activity director. Plus, it’s 3 miles from my house. The skilled care section seemed to be a very nice facility and they’re remodelling each room. They do have dog shows there, and had pictures of dog shows, a plus as my mother likes dogs. The aesthetics of the place is very appealing and they’ve done a lot to make it feel like home. "

"Great administrative and nursing staff! My uncle was a patient and well taken care of until he passed away. Facility has had nice renovations. Many of the staff members have worked there for years which speaks volumes!"

"My relative moved to Buckeye Forest at Fairfield. The facility and the rooms are great. The staff, the nursing, and the admission is great. The residents seemed very pleased. They're well taken care of as far as the staff and their promise to the patients, so far, it's good. For activities, they need to add more, maybe adding speech therapy and things like that."

"Maple Knoll Village had apartments, townhouses and villas. Their villas had garages than could be used for cars or as workshops. They had four washers and dryers. It had two bedrooms which was really nice. It had a full size refrigerator and felt like more like a home than an apartment. I loved this facility. "

"My dad is at The Lodge Nursing & Rehab Center. He has been there for two months now. If someone is ill or having a lot of health issues, I would say they're very, very good. My dad is in a double semi-private room, and it's spacious, but it's more of a hospital setting than any type of residential, semi-independent living. Cleanliness is very, very good though. I have tried their food and it's good. My dad likes their food, too. With regard to activities, they try to tailor the activities based on what the patient can do."

"I will move into Ohio Living Mount Pleasant. I chose them because they're very friendly. They have social workers as the directors at the front, which I is very good. They also have continuous care. It's a complete thing. They had activities that I really liked. They have a duplicate bridge, and they have a choir. Those are two things that interest me. It's a full kitchen, including a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer in the units, and two meals a day, and one meal on Saturday and Sunday, which is fine with me. You can choose whichever meals you want to go to. They serve three meals a day, but you only go to two. Mine will be lunch and dinner because their breakfast is at nine, and I get up at seven. I've eaten there three times. It's very good. Christine explained everything. I'm all going to be on the second floor, overlooking a big patio area. They have a separate building that is a health center, which is like a workout gym that you can use, and they have water aerobics, too."

"When my grandmother was ill in her later years she was a resident at this facility. The staff was qualified and very courteous. All in all, though she was obvious not as comfortable as she could have been, the staff made every possible effort to make sure she was as comfortable as possible. The activities staff planned activities at almost all times of the day including bingo, puzzles, games and exercises. Also on the event schedule was various outings and special guest to entertain residents. "

"We put my husband in a home called Meadowbrook Care Center. It's a memory care and a clinical care place. So far, it seems like he's getting excellent care as far as that goes. I talked to the nurses when we left, and they said they would keep an eye on him. He was a little agitated this morning when he woke up because he was in a new place and he didn't know exactly where he was. His sister got over there about 10:00 and she says after she was there for about half an hour, he calmed down. They said he didn't eat that much for breakfast, but for his lunch, he ate it all. The building is probably about 40 years old, but the rehab part where he's in is about two years old. It's very clean and the rooms are very large. He has a small round table, a bed, an armoire, a dresser, and a chair. If he wanted anything else, he could put it in and there's a TV up on the wall. The staff seemed to be quite well, because when we were there, they came in two or three times to check on him, make sure we had enough water, and that he ate his lunch and they took his lunch out after he had finished. It's only been a day, so I hope it keeps going that way. They were very caring and wanted to help and offered anything that we needed and anything that he needed to make him comfortable while he was there. They had egg salad, some potato chips, some tomatoes, and some ambrosia, and he ate all of it, which I was surprised about. I've only gone down two halls. It was very clean, and it didn't have any odors to it or anything like that. The patients that were walking around were well cared for and dressed. Some of them were in wheelchairs, but they were getting around fairly well. I'm hoping that he'll get the care that he needs. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it's about ten miles from the house."

"My mom has moved into Majestic Care of Fairfield. They made it easy to get her into her room. It's a very clean facility, and the people are just great. They're just really great as far as helping her. They went above what they had to do getting her into her room and getting it set up and everything. Her room is very nice and very clean. She has a roommate and the roommate seems very, very nice. My mom is eating, so I imagine she likes the food. They feed her very well. It's a beautiful facility. So far, the value for money is very good. They pay for her phone and they pay for her cable."
