"I toured the Dumont Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. On every floor we were taken to, I didn't see any discrepancies. We were taken to the memory care division. It looked like it was a clean place, so I have no complaints. The staff member who gave the tour was not knowledgeable, but the person they claimed we were supposed to see had something else to do, so they put another person on to take us around. He was OK. If we had another person who normally does it, we'd get more information on him, but it wasn't bad. It was OK. It looked like a clean area. I didn't see anything wrong with the rooms they showed us and that we passed through, but I peeked, and they looked well-kept. They showed us different rooms. They showed us one-on-one, and then we saw two-on-two. I mean two people in a room, and we saw one person in the room. So it was OK."

"The hospital has put my mom into The Pines at Poughkeepsie Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. They've had to move her a few different times, but she's on a floor now where she has 24-hour monitoring. Her mind is pretty not there, but she's still able to get up and move around a little bit, so they have to really watch her, and they have to take care of her a lot. It's a rehab/nursing home, and it has four floors. One floor is for rehabilitation, and then another floor is for like people that need help, but they can do stuff themselves. It goes different levels like as your mind goes. It's nice for being in the city. It's set in like a wooded setting, so it's nice. It's not a city setting, even though it's in the city of Poughkeepsie. The staff have really been great. Everybody has been friendly and quite helpful. My mom had gone there for rehab, and when I brought her home, she needed a shot, and this medicine costs $1,500. Now, we could not afford it, so I called The Pines and the head nurse, and they had given me all of her medications that they had left because it was all done in her name, so everything that they had they gave to me (except for that shot). Well, a day later, the nurse called upstairs to the floor my mom was on and asked if they had sent it back down to the pharmacy yet, and they had not, and it was still up in the refrigerator with my mom's name on it. This nurse went and got that medication and drove it 45 minutes one way to my mom's house and gave her that injection she needed. That was like above and beyond. She's the head of the nurses in that building. I haven't eaten there, but I've seen what my mother has gotten, and they definitely give very nice meals there. When they ask for snacks, like my mom wanted something sweet, she wanted a cookie, the nurse went and got her two individually wrapped cookies and brought them to her. As for activities, they were doing a barbecue for the people that could do it. One day last week when I was there, they had all these little old people in their wheelchairs outside having a barbecue. My mom is at a level where she really can't do any activities, but they do have some very nice activities. Once a month, they have this thing in the foyer when you go in and some of these people set up a stand and they have this big popcorn machine with popcorn, and they bag it like all these little individual snacks, and all the money that they earn from that goes for the patients' activity. That's really nice. They do a lot for them. The rooms are a little small, and there are two beds to a room. You just get a dresser and a little stand-up closet, and then you have to share a bathroom with no shower. The showers are out in the hallway. But the facility is nice, and they do a lot of activities with the residents that can do activities. My brother takes care of all the financials, but I know it is very expensive."

"Seabury At Field Home has extremely caring staff. It's the right size, very clean, has the right location for us, and smells wonderful. The activities are sufficient for the memory support unit, and the private rooms are adorable, the right size, and safe. The beds are made and rooms are cleaned every day by 11:00 a.m. Each person has their own bathroom, but the shower is out in the hallway. My mother says the food is just like home cooking and seems to enjoy it. I have seen the food and it looks fine. You're brought to your meals. I would recommend it to anyone who has the same needs as my mother. "

"We moved my dad to The Emerald Peek for rehabilitation purposes early in March. After talking with them, we found out that we could actually keep him in the skilled nursing facility since we were very impressed with what they did. The staff is excellent and treat my dad like he's their grandpa. They constantly give him attention and take care of him very well. My dad seems to be much better, much more attentive, has a smile on his face, and is talking with everyone. He's really doing well in this place, so we're happy to have him there. I didn't try the food but my sister and mom ate with my dad a few times, and the food was fine, and they adjust it to his liking. They make sure that there's nothing that he has to really chew on aggressively. My dad's room is not nearly as pretty as some of the assisted living places since it's a very basic double room, and he's with somebody else. They have a TV and a few chairs in there. It's more like a hospital room but it's very comfortable it works for him very well. The place is a little dingy and not the prettiest looking place around, but their service is great and excellent. They actually get him involved in activities like singing, music, and dance. They also have chair yoga and physical therapy. It's pretty expensive, though."

"My grandmother in law, as well as my family friends mother stayed at this facility- one 4 years ago, and the other this year. What an improvement those years make! While the facility was always nice- now it is great! I was blown away by the staff and how much they care, the facility is also aesthetically pleasing. The social workers took the time to explain everything that we as family members needed, as did the nurses, therapists and other staff. Once they found out my grandmother in law loved to knit, they started a knitting club for her! If you're looking for a place that goes above and beyond for it's residents this is it! "

"Cortlandt Healthcare seems like a nice facility. It's the average price for the area (I've checked on all the others). It's $410 a day. So, if you're going to stay there for a long period of time, it could run a lot of money. The nurses have taken good care of my wife. They got her on medication and did physical therapy. The administrative staff has gone out of their way to help me. They got me a new medical plan and set up a new prescription plan for my wife. It's close and easy to get to for the family, too. The only thing I wish was the rooms could be a little bigger for the two people in the room."

"Veterans Home is only twenty years old. It was built in 2001, and it's just one floor. All the rooms have bay windows, so each bed is by a bay window. On days when things are really strict there, as far as visitation with COVID, at least your family member can come to the window. Even though there are 342 beds, they are distributed into these six pods, and each pod has forty-something residents. Each of those sections have their own nurse's station and their own stuff going on, so you're really not in a building where 200-something people are using the same facilities. Each pod has its own entity. Aesthetically, it looks beautiful, and it's gorgeous. They also have beautiful grounds, and there's a VA hospital just across the street."

"My uncle was at this facility for over 2 years. The staff was extremely kind and caring, the place was immaculate and my family was so happy and not worried the whole time he was there. We were blessed to have him. The garden outside was beautiful. We would sit for hours and laugh. They offer lots of activities and I thank god for them everyday"

"I was at Sky View in 2019 for almost 3 months because of a seriously broken ankle. Obviously I’d rather be outside enjoying the summer but the staff was exceptional, making my stay comfortable and pleasing. I was taken care of by a professional, friendly, and caring staff from my room to the PT area. The room was comfortable, clean, and enough space including the dresser for all of my stuff. The food was mostly good and good sized portions. "

"I was reluctant to leave my elderly father at any nursing home or rehab facility because I never had an experience with these facilities and thought he would be unhappy and scared to be away from our family. But, dad needed the care that I could not offer while recovering from a stroke. Fortunately, Bethel provided him with excellent care. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The services offered got my dad back to being independent so he could come home after two weeks. My father talks positively about his pleasant experience, even though he admits to giving them a "hard time" when he started. Bethel embraced his stubborn and non-cooperative attitude and managed to get him to enjoy his time there. Thank you to the staff at Bethel for helping my family during this challenging time."

"My mom was a patient here recovering from a fall. The staff was amazing. They were attentive and compassionate. The physical therapy staff took my mom from not being able to walk to being able to resume an independent life. Each private room has a large window allowing for natural light and are nicely appointed. My mother also enjoyed the food. The campus is quiet and lovely."

"My mom has been a resident of Salem Hills fir a year and a half. Everything, everyone regarding this facility has been excellent! She is taken care of in every possible way! Of course it was hard in the beginning for all of us, but as we saw Mom adjusting so did we. I can’t say enough about the nursing care, the aides, the therapy staff and Jen the social worker. A burden has been lifted off our chests knowing Mom is so well taken care of , eats what she says are delicious meals, and feels so loved by all that interact with her! Salem Hills is the best!!"

"I looked at Waterview Hills in Purdys. It was last fall when I went there, but it was very nice. They took us down to a lower level, and they had one floor that smelled a lot like urine, and I didn't like it. They need to improve on the cleanliness of it. It looked like you're on a cruise ship in there. They had nice cafeteria, and there were nice tapestries on the wall. It was very nice. The staff was very good. They had a beauty parlor, they had a gym for physical therapy, they had a big common room, and in the common room, they had a fish tank and a library. It was very nice."

"My mom was just discharged after a six week stay. When we first went in Mr. Gottleib, the director, was always very helpful and accommodating. If anything came up, all issues were resolved positively and quickly with his compassion for care. Mr. Gottleib was extremely accessible and responsive. All of the staff was extremely helpful. When my mom arrived she was unable to walk or sit up unassisted. The physical therapy department was able to get her mobile. She is improving daily and able to walk a few steps unassisted. My mom had a very positive experience from the time she arrived until the time she was discharged. The facility is very well run, and immaculately kept. I was very comfortable with my mom being a patient knowing how well she was being cared for. "
