"We toured Thrive at Montvale. We liked the amenities, and we liked the fact that it was very new and very fresh. It was very nice. The staff was great, and we enjoyed the tour. We liked their meal plan and the size of the facility. It was not too big and not too small. We liked the fact that they could move from independent to assisted living if they needed to. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, and they wanted to get to know my parents, which was good. The cleanliness was great. We liked the courtyard quite a bit. They had a garden room and a giant LEGO area for families to play in, and they had water features, but the units were a little bit on the small side. The atmosphere was vibrant, and we liked the setup, the layout, and the spaces."

"The rooms are nice and very spacious. There’s enough room to put things in and you don’t feel like you’re in one room all of the time because there’s a separate living and sitting area from the bedroom. The woman who showed me around was very nice. It is in a nice location not far from the highway, so it’s convenient for family members to come visit. The whole facility is clean, and the people were dressed well. Everyone looked well-cared for, and seemed happy and alert. All the residents went to the dining room and enjoyed their meals together. I definitely would consider it. Based on what I saw, I liked everything. I was very impressed with the people and everything. "

"My sister was at The Allendale Community for a short time. The place was an immaculate, beautiful home. The help was great. I found everybody to be nice and very caring. My sister had a private room with a dresser and a lounge chair. It was absolutely gorgeous and clean. She thought the food was good, but she wasn't raving about it. My aunt loved physical therapy; it was excellent. We loved The Allendale, but it wasn't for my sister."

"My father has just spent his first night at Emeritus, so I cannot say much about his stay so far, but I can say that, for the first night in a long time I slept soundly knowing he was safe. My experience with Emeritus during the process of getting my father situated there has been nothing short of wonderful. They have been extremely accomodating to our family, letting us set up his room as we liked, understanding and being helpful with all the paper work and all of our questions, and making this very difficult process for us, as simple and smooth as possible. The staff is so very friendly and kind to my father and to us that it warms the heart, and the attention to detail, even to the point of the nice welcome sign for my father in the main lobby yesterday is fantastic. I am so grateful that such places exist where the elderly can be well cared for in a clean and safe environment, and still enjoy a measure of independent living, and I truly hope that other families who are going through similar situations can come to realize the value of places life Emeritus, Emeritus, by the way, means "retire with dignity". "I’m very impressed with Glen Arden as the staff and the residents were very friendly. It’s very well kept and everything , the nursing care apartment and the entire operation, was first class. It had a beautiful setting, about 60 miles from New York City near the very beautiful Hudson River Valley. I had a very pleasant atmosphere, and you can move from one step to the next, from independent, to assisted, and to nursing care. "

"Pine Ridge Family Type Home for Adults was clean. It was very small. I think the owner has six people in it. It's essentially a house and I have inquired about memory care. The owner spent a lot of time with us. She seems to be really concerned and actively engaged with everybody there. Then I spoke to two of the other residents and they seemed well cared for and happy. That was the place we were ready to send my mother to as we wanted a smaller personal place like that. There are no social activities going on and that was one of the things that I had issues with. At some point, the owner said that they were bringing people in, such as musicians, but the residents weren't even paying attention to them."

"I toured Mira Vie at West Milford for my mom. I liked the overall environment, the cleanliness of the place, and the staffing. The person who took us on the tour was professional and attentive. They have availability of a private studio, but also availability of a shared apartment. I think it's pretty much standard."

"I went and looked at this facility. I walked around, and it was a beautiful place, but I didn't speak to anybody. However, the ambience was good."

"Maplewood at Darien is my first choice and it is fabulous. The community is relatively new and that always makes it nice. It's very clean, neat, inviting, and the person who I spoke to was great and extremely helpful. They have studios and 1-bedroom units, and they also have 1-bedroom unit that's actually two units which can be turned into one. They also have a separate athletic area with equipment like a treadmill and weights for working out. The grounds were beautiful, and they have a very nice area at the back with benches. It's beautiful, just like being in a park. The location was also great for me."

"The tour at Amber Court of Pelham Gardens was pretty good and very thorough. They had very nice amenities. They had a library and very good artwork. But they were on double occupancy. They had very few single rooms. They also had an admission code for their own particular care. They had a specific matter of payment."
