"Everything about Atria Woodlands was very nice. They have everything there from beauty salon to movie theater, and there is a dining room. All the amenities were great. I just thought it was too expensive, but the staff was very nice. They had arts and crafts, some kind of stretching or fitness, movie nights, special events, and lots of activities. I did not try the food, but the menu looked varied and very good."

"I toured The Country House in Westchester. The lady had given me all the information that I needed and took additional information for me. Right now, we're trying to see just a couple of different possibilities, whether it'd be assisted living or just regular apartment living. What I liked the most was it was not too large. The number of rooms that they had was somewhere around 80, so the size in relationship to the staff was nice. The staff was excellent, very informative, helpful with our questions, and showed us several different rooms. There was a gazebo area, a library, a playroom, an arts and crafts room, and a piano for music and events. I know that they had a transportation van if you needed a trip to a facility or a doctor."

"This place is not all it’s cracked up to be. The initial tours gives off high quality and class but it’s a very different experience living there. They’re always short staffed, people are constantly quitting. Laundry is a joke. The food is just edible and the director, Brittany, what a B word. She’s going to run that place straight into the ground if they don’t replace her sooner rather than later. She has no experience and it shows everyday. The community doesn’t like her and from what I can tell, her staff doesn’t either. The best help usually comes from the people that do not work for Highpoint which is mind blowing to think about. My advice, spend less money elsewhere for better help and a better quality of life."

"We chose the Promenade because it's close to where we lived. It's probably like 6 minutes away from my house. My father is very happy with The Promenade. He's got a room for himself. The transition was quick and smooth. Everybody has been very amiable. I think it's a lovely. The facility is clean and very organized. Physicians visits once every 2 weeks or once a month and check the residents to make sure everybody is ok. They have different people that come in to entertain the residents. They take them to services on Sunday. They also take them on car rides, on picnics and shopping. They keep the residents busy. "

"It is much smaller and newer compared to the other places we’ve seen. The staff is attentive. The furnishings, room, and construction seemed a little more upscale."

"The gentleman that gave us the tour to Sunrise of Crestwood was very helpful and knowledgeable. The people seemed friendly too, but they didn't have any units available in the memory care, so we only got to see the assisted living. They gave us food to take because we had another appointment, and it wasn't bad. They had a garden, activities, and their dining area was more like a restaurant type. The place was very nice and there was an elegance to it, but it was homey."

"I liked the friendliness, the community integration, and the activities at Sunrise of Old Tappan. The accommodations were updated and clean. I liked the general cleanliness. They seemed to have overall good quality care. The staff was informative. I think the lady took her time and was responsive and friendly. They have a courtyard. The way that memory care was set up was like an open plan so that people are visible and it's very homey in the decor and the way it's all set up. They have multiple common areas. They have a two-bedroom in the memory care, which is shocking. That's an unusual feature."

"My mom is at The Residence at Park Ridge. Her apartment is spacious. She is in a one-bedroom. She has a nice-sized living room and a kitchenette. We did the shared room rate because that's what she could afford, and when she was on Medicaid, like all the other places, she had to have a roommate, so that's the downside. The staff there are incredible. They're very friendly and supportive. They're there with any questions. The food is very good. I had lunch there, and their lunch was excellent. And my mom loves their food. The place is extremely clean. Every part of it and every area that we want to, it's immaculate. With regards to activities, they have a wide range of activities. I don't think they have as much as some of the other places that I saw, but my mom is very happy with them. They do bingo, arts and crafts, and different games. They have movies. They have happy hour and they have appetizers, cheese, and crackers for their happy hour. They also have milkshakes and coffee socials. They do a lot."

"Sunrise of Woodcliff Lake was pretty much the same with the other Sunrise that I visited. However, they did not have interview, so I didn't know if they could offer my wife the services she needed. The rooms were very nice. I only met a couple of people, and they seemed fine. "

"Brighton Gardens of Stamford was older than the first place we went to, but it looked aesthetically appealing. The staff was very friendly, the facilities were smaller, but they seemed pretty good. They had lots of activities, there were stuff going on when I was there. The rooms were nice enough, they weren't high-end, and it's like a 3-star hotel. It was a nice community, they had a pet dog that roamed around, and it was a very open, nurturing community."

"I toured Brookdale Emerson. I liked that it was very thorough. The patients were very satisfied, and the food was great. Dimitri was super helpful and answered every question I had. I only liked a couple of activities, and I was presented with about 50."

"My husband is at Edgehill. They have lovely grounds. The people are fabulous, very nice, and kind. It is a very nice place. The staff members are wonderful. The food is excellent. I like everything about it. The management and nurses are lovely. My husband had a stroke, and they have him up and walking. I think he's doing well there. The rehab facility has single rooms, and they are very clean."

"It was nice, but most of the people were older than my husband, and it wasn't a good fit for him. They had a salon and a library. They had lots of activities to do during the week."
