I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Our mother is a recent resident at Tolstoy. We are so pleased with the care, attention and communication of the staff, nurses, admin, aide and PT. Our mom is treated with respect and the utmost care. Thank you to AnnMarie and her team for working tirelessly for the residents.

Tolstoy Foundation Rehabilitation and Nursing Center was an older facility. My brother was there, and the staff did well. He didn't like the food, though. The rooms were also small. They need more staff, but they were caring people.

About Tolstoy Foundation Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Valley Cottage, New York

Welcome to Tolstoy Foundation Nursing Home! The Tolstoy Foundation Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Inc., is a not-for-profit corporation, founded by humanitarian Alexandra Tolstoy, daughter of the famous author Leo Tolstoy, and her esteemed colleague, Tatiana Schaufuss, to minister to the needs of Russian and other Slavic-speaking people.
The Center, an easy 40-minute drive from Manhattan, Bergen and Fairfield Counties, is a 96-bed facility providing skilled nursing, rehabilitation and personal care services on a long-term or short-term basis. The facility, nestled into the hillside of Rockland County’s suburban hamlet of Valley Cottage, offers a warm and homelike environment with bright, spacious rooms looking out onto manicured grounds, blossoming fruit trees, and borders of colorful flowers and shrubs.
The physical layout of the facility is highly unusual for a nursing home – all Resident rooms are located on ground level with the administrative offices and dining area located in the two storey portion of the building.
Tolstoy Foundation Rehabilitation and Nursing Center blends state-of-the-art nursing home care with a homelike atmosphere where staff render their services, aware that each Resident is an individual, entitled to be treated with dignity. The interdisciplinary team of caregivers provides a Resident-centered approach with emphasis on meeting physical, social, cultural and spiritual needs, thus ensuring the highest attainable quality of life for each Resident. The Center encourages its Residents to maintain independence within their functional limitations and provides the support necessary to help them achieve their individual goals.
