"We thought St. Joseph's Village was OK. The residents get their food in the dining room area. I believe that there is housekeeping (maybe laundry, bedding, and that kind of thing). The apartments were fairly priced."

"My wife was at Victory Lakes for her rehab but she passed away last April. The food was fine. The service was excellent. She got to know most of the people there and they took expert care of her. They were very attentive to her to meet her needs. It was just a very pleasant experience. "

"My mother is in Cantata Adult Life Services (formerly British Home). Overall, we're satisfied with them. We had a bumpy start, but once I told them what I expected, they performed very well. She had a stroke, and they're one of the few places that do non-weight-bearing rehab. They're very compassionate. It's a very small facility which is nice, and they have a good staff-to-resident ratio. We've have several meals. My mom doesn't like the food, but my sister and I thought it was perfectly fine. They have tremendous and excellent rehab staff. "

"They're excellent there at Manorcare of Highland Park. I'm very favorably impressed. In the morning, my husband has to go through PT, etc. He is never alone. Quite often, he will be in a wheelchair at the nurses' station so that they don't have to worry about him getting up and falling. They are interested in what he likes to eat. They have excellent food, too. What I like best about this facility is all the personal care that they give to the residents there. They really give tender, loving care to their residents. I'm very favorably impressed with them. "

"My father was at Whitehall of Deerfield. Their physical therapy is highly regarded and that's why Whitehall is highly regarded around this area. It has a reputation for good physical therapy. They have one physical therapist who works with a client for a full hour, whereas other places kind of put you with a few people at the same time. It was good in comparison to other places. The building was in good shape. It didn't need a lot of maintenance. It was clean. I enjoyed talking with the staff. We didn't get into the activities much, but the physical therapy stood out. Whitehall is known for being pretty expensive in the area, but also one of the good ones to choose from because of its good reputation for a lot of things."

"This facility is part of a corporate chain and this particular building is relatively new, meaning less than 15 years old. It is set in a busy area next to a restaurant and right off the highway. The highway allows convenient communting but the setting limits available outdoor space. There are some outdoor sitting areas that residents and families use but it it difficult to 'go for a walk'. The common areas are spacious and tastefully decorated providing multiple options for relaxing and visiting. The resident rooms are fairly typical in size, perhaps a bit larger than average. Some private rooms are available though most are shared. All rooms are tastefully furnished. The food is average to above average with most meals appearing appetizing. The staffing is average with adequate number of staff available most of the time. Care rendered is kind, patient and compassionate. "

"I am WELL acquainted with this facility!! My husband lived there for THREE years and I visited almost EVERY day!! I can state without reservations that this is one of the top nursing homes in the state of Illinois. The nursing and CNA staff are all front-line-warriors when it comes to their devotion, loving care, excellent skills, accurate diligence and great patience. The administration is very responsive to resident and family needs. The food is very good and attractively presented.. The activities personnel are very devoted to providing mentally stimulating activities for the residents drawing out of their own years of service to the seniors there in the facility. The facility itself has recently been remodeled and upgraded making it a pleasure to see. I have visited several other nursing homes across the communities just north of Chicago and this is the ONLY one I would recommend. "

"I am in Brentwood, and it is a full care nursing home. The service is great. I am the president of the residents. I will recommend them highly. If they will come for a tour, they will see the good services that are provided here. "

"We visited a place called Greek American; it was a gorgeous place, but we couldn't afford it. It was probably the most beautiful facility I have ever seen. Their secured unit, you have to have a code to get in the elevator and go up there. But you walk in there, and you don't even see a nurse's desk. It is kind of hidden behind some walls or something. What they have upfront looks like a porch with rocking chairs, so the residents can sit on the porch and rock. They had several dining areas that were very home-looking. Really, it was a gorgeous, elegant place, and even though it was more expensive than I could afford, it actually was less expensive than those other places, which I don't think were any nicer than where my husband is at now. "

"My mother is now at Warren Barr Lincolnshire. The experience is good so far. The nursing and CNA staff are very attentive to her. The facilities are nice. It's a welcoming entrance. There are two wings off of a nurse's station with 11 patients in each wing. It's broken up into small areas. There aren't any long hallways, they're all short hallways, which gives it a homey feeling. The food is pretty good for that kind of place. Activities are minimal because most of the residents are not too active. They have single and shared rooms. For activities, they have bingo, a pianist, and weekly movies with popcorn. They have a chair exercise class. The rehab facility is nice, and the therapists are good. After my mother stopped the physical rehab, they have a continuing occupational therapist who visits five times a week for very short sessions (10 or 15 minutes at a time), which is to maintain range of motion and so forth. They have more than one small courtyard. From each little part of the rooms, they have an exit that leads out into a small courtyard with some seating available. "

"My father was transfered here from Glenview Terrance where due to neglect he developed stage two bed sores. The difference in care is night and day! My only regret was that we didn't start my father's rehab here! The nurses are incredible. My father has many needs as he can't feed himself, talk or move. It takes an aid at least a half an hour to feed him. He needs two people to get him in and out of his bed and wheel chair. He has incontinence and must be changed regularly. His aids and nurses are on top of all his needs. They proactively attend to every issue. The sores caused by Glenview Terrace are finally being treated properly! I finally can visit my father and spend time with him, instead of worrying and chasing after people to change him, move him, feed him, or give him therapy. I have loved everyone here. The place is spotless , bright and equipped with the latest equipment. My only regret is not having started my father here. "
