7900 N Milwaukee Ave Suite 2-25, Niles, IL 60714
From the very beginning, we wanted to keep things simple. We wanted to provide the most personalized service available, so our clients could stay at home comfortably for as long as they choose. After taking a look at how home care was structured both at home and around the world, we found one resounding theme among home care recipients: people want consistency and customization. For this reason, we implemented our One-Client One-Caregiver Concept and assigned each client to their own Care Coordinator. We went a step further by keeping case loads for Care Coordinators as small as possible, so that they have ample time to get to know all of their clients. In line with our mission to provide the highest degree of personalization, all of our Care Coordinator are available to clients, their families, and caregivers 24/7. They manage and update each client’s ever-changing care plan, communicate with caregivers, and make home visits as frequently as ne cessary. Our One-Client One-Caregiver Concept is an extension of our emphasis on customization and consistency. After an initial assessment and caregiver placement, we focus on keeping the same caregiver or team of caregivers in place. In this manner, the same, knowledgeable staff is ever-present and random caregivers are never sent. Should there ever be a change in the regular caregivers for any reason, the Care Coordinator or Primary Caregiver will personally introduce the new caregiver to the client. Our client’s comfort is our top priority and we believe home care should not be characterized by a revolving door of providers.

Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
Home care services are only one of the pieces needed for seniors to gracefully age in place. There are many services and programs that are low-cost or free, that enable seniors to enjoy an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home, such as help with home modifications, meal delivery services, and more. Below, we’ve compiled a few of the most helpful resources in Highland Park:
Resource | Contact | Address | Service |
---|---|---|---|
Highland Park Senior Center | (847) 432-4110 | 1201 Park Avenue West, Highland Park, IL 60035 | Open to Highland Park residents aged 50 and older, this senior center functions as an information resource, social hub and support system for the area’s older adult population. Its expansive list of programs and activities includes current events discussion groups, fitness classes that incorporate tai chi, yoga, Zumba and other low-impact exercises, and driver safety and education programs. The Highland Park Senior Center also runs multiple low- or no-cost transportation options to help seniors get to appointments or run errands. |
Illinois Department on Aging | (800) 252-8966 | One Natural Resources Way, Suite 100, Springfield, IL 62702-1271 | This state agency pursues a mission of helping Illinois seniors experience a higher quality of life through providing access to financial, psychological, medical and social supports. Its Adult Day Service provides respite for primary caregivers and also provides mingling opportunities for seniors. This agency is also in charge of administering the Adult Protective Services program, which focuses on stopping or heading off various types of mistreatment of seniors and disabled adults. |
Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program | (217) 785-2533 | 500 E Monroe St, Springfield, IL 62701 | Aimed at low-income Illinois residents, the IHWAP helps participants lower their home’s energy costs by providing the funds for energy-efficient home improvements. Such improvements may include adding insulation, fixing or replacing HVAC and water heater systems, and updating home lighting and major appliances to reduce overall electric load. Income eligibility limits apply. |
Family Service of Lake County | (847) 432-4981 | 777 Central Avenue, Suite 17, Highland Park, IL 60035 | This nonprofit organization offers its therapy services, senior advocate services and caregiver support services to Lake County families at no out-of-pocket cost. Counseling services can help seniors deal with family issues, life transitions, bereavement and other stressors commonly experienced by the elderly. FSLC’s dedicated senior advocate helps run a support and social group for elderly people living independently and helps Highland Park’s seniors get connected to health and military benefits to which they may be entitled. |
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – oftentimes it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed. Use this PDF as a starting point to help the conversation stay as positive and productive as possible.
