"The staff at Brookdale Vernon Hills was well informed, helping us to better understand the options that were available, and the advantages and tradeoffs of each of the available apartments. The apartments have ample space, and several options were provided at various price points to help us with our decision. The facility was very well maintained. The rainforest and gardens were well taken care of. The sidewalks in the winter were well salted for safety. We were actually there right after a snowstorm, and the main lanes were cleared of snow and ice. They explained their local transportation for shopping and for doctor visits, and accommodations for residents to participate in, both indoor activities as well as outside activities that range from local parks, to museums, and other destinations that are very community driven. Residents' input seemed to be highly valued."

"I visited Sunrise of Buffalo Grove for my dad. It's located next to a fire station. I like that it's a new community and it's very well kept up, so it's got a good atmosphere about it. The layout is very nice and very easy for the clients to get around. Their dining area was well kept and laid out for the clients to have a social atmosphere."

It's welcoming, small, and it had a nice garden. They have a bus, and they try to have activities for the residents. The dining room looked like a restaurant."

"When I walked in the front door of Belmont Village Glenview, I immediately felt at home. It felt welcoming. It did not feel sterile. It felt comfortable. One thing I was impressed with is that they have such longevity in staff and most of their people have been there 10 plus years. They have physical therapy, which was very important to me. They also have a book club, and movie nights, bingo, and they have activities where you can sign up and be taken off the premises like field trips."

"My sister was living at Ciel Senior Living of Long Grove. It's very clean and very friendly. Their approach was excellent. Their food was sufficient, but it could use a variety. My sister's room was more than adequate. It's a nice size. She was in one with a bedroom, a front room, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. They did Scrabble and bingo, and they went out for lunch."

The coverage in terms of hours of the day with activationists/recreation therapists is more than what I see in other organizations. The staff appear to know the residents very well, so that they know how to tailor the programs and encourage participation in the programming. "

"I highly recommend Waverly Inn Memory Care Community. Mom moved in there. It was excellent. It was clean, the staff was fantastic, very personable, and they treated you like family. The facility had a lot of options, from private rooms to rooms with shared bathrooms. They have activities in the morning and afternoon, throughout the day. Every day there are things to do based on the ability level of the people who are there. It's not the cheapest place around, but you got what you paid for. I told them to take a look at it because it's not a chain like they have multiple locations, but it's not like a big box. It's more of a personalized feel to it."

"The Moorings of Arlington Heights is a wonderful facility from a socializing aspect. I was not happy that they did not have personal laundry, only laundry outside of the unit. "

"It was clean and the people there were a lot active. The rooms looked pretty good. They had a nice setup for the dining room. It didn't have a full wall. It only had a half wall so residents could see you and you could see the residents. The main desk was right as you walked in, so that was convenient, and we didn't have to look for it. The staff was very informative and very professional. She followed up with me, which was nice. She was very bubbly and very happy. We were informed of the activities, how they presented the meals, that they had alternative meals, and we were shown a room. They had a barbershop and a library too."
