We chose Warren Barr North Shore for our Grandmother based both on recommendations and our own research, and in retrospect, could not possibly have done better for Grandma. From her first day she was treated with respect, sensitivity and empathy by what was clearly a quality and well trained and directed staff. Any problem or concern we raised was handled promptly and effectively. What an incredible home. We can't thank you enough.

My friend was in Warren Barr North Shore in Highland Park. It was pretty far from home. I found out for sure I was outright lied to about certain things, and she was very unhappy there. She had taken a fall, and I was never told. I just did not care for that place, nor did she. The staff was not at all what it should have been. Her physical care was not good at all. Overall service was very subpar as far as I'm concerned. She was not happy with the food. I was not informed of any activities, and she did a little bit of rehab, but very, very little.

They're excellent there at Manorcare of Highland Park. I'm very favorably impressed. In the morning, my husband has to go through PT, etc. He is never alone. Quite often, he will be in a wheelchair at the nurses' station so that they don't have to worry about him getting up and falling. They are interested in what he likes to eat. They have excellent food, too. What I like best about this facility is all the personal care that they give to the residents there. They really give tender, loving care to their residents. I'm very favorably impressed with them.

This place is horrible, the nurses are incompetant, the CNA are worse. There are not enough of either one. They are so poorly undrpaid how would any business attract any intellegent, highly competant individuals, instead is what you get are foreign speaking Nurses the do not have a decent grasp of the english language to be abel to cope with any conversation that involves anything besides a Yes or No answer. Also because of the pay scale that Maor Care and its admin give to its employees manke it impossible to attract any good help and only the ones that do take a job there do so because they cannot get any other job out there in the medical field and need they money badly. CNA's regularly complain aloud in dining room for all to hear about their jobs, pay, managers etc. A great thing to want to hear while tring to eat the substandard food that is served there. We have seen so many medical errors including dispensing of narcotics incorrectly and the nurses leaving meidcine carts with narcootics and more, open for all to partake. Their was an incident in which there was a bad natural gas leak on the second and third floosr one evening as witnessed by Nurses holding masks to faces because they could not breath and when the fire dept showed up they commented on where was there evacuation plan? The nurses responded like deer looking into headlights because they did not have the common sense to even dial 911. There are many more thaI have, been witnessed as well as others working there and living there while the Administration just pooh poohs these things to keep up an air of great quality. The administrator told people in the main lobby they there was no gas incident but someone thought they had smelled it. Tell that to the Nursing evening staff that was choking on the fumes. Its all documented!!! The administration is very ill suited for this kind of work as shown by how they handle situations with families thar complian and there are many, Many feel like they have been sold a Bill of Goods when the Tour was made but everything was quite different when their loved one was officially a paying reasident.

Please stay away from this place. They will try to keep you for as many days as insurance pays, regardless of whether you need it or not. For Medicare, that means 100 days. Staff IS VERY tight---not enough nurses for residents, imparing resident care significantly. A nurse told me she is instructed NOT to send patients to the hospital, even is necessary--you can imagine how many patients suffer needlessly. Also very BAD food! VERY poor Administration! VERY indifferent staff. A lot of turnover of staff.

This Manorcare is located right off the highway in what is essentially a business area bordered by a residential area. While there are outdoor sitting areas, there is nowhere to go if one wishes to "take a walk". The short term rehab program here is generally regarded as good as is the long term care. The interior is nicely decorated and provides adequate though not extensive places for families and residents to sit and talk. The residents rooms are of average size with adequate furnishings; most rooms do not provide much space for extra furniture or personal items. The food is average with some meals very appealing and others not. Staffing at times seems tight with barely enough staff to meet needs, but most often seems quite good. Staff are kind, professional and compassionate.
