The Oaks at Whitaker Glen's independent living community was very good. It is still being built. I think just a few people have moved in at this point, but we did get to see some different apartments and some of the public spaces. We really liked the amenities and the openness of it. There are lots of green spaces, and it's convenient to our current home, so we know the neighborhood really well. We got to see the casual dining area. They're still building the formal one. I have not eaten there, but we did get to see the menu.

I liked the price at The Oaks at Whitaker Glen. They were upfront about it and so forth. I liked that they try to keep you in your apartment for as long as possible but then I realized they didn't have their own facilities to do otherwise and their rooms were smaller than I anticipated. There was no extra storage space. The facilities were nice, but if you had to go into assisted care, then they would bring a health service. They rely on that to come into your facility and administer that. We talked with Sam and he was very good and very knowledgeable.

My sister-in-law's mother is at The Oaks at Whitaker Glen, and it is a very nice facility. It is very clean, operates well, and the staff is nice and helpful. They adhered very well to the COVID protocols, like not allowing anyone in unless they were caregivers. They have lectures, bus trips, movies, and an exercise facility. The food is excellent, too. She's very happy there.
