The Gatesworth is a very well-organized and well-run community with many amenities. The staff is courteous and helpful. They serve lunch and dinner and we prepare our own breakfast. We only went there once for breakfast. It was my kind of coffee and my kind of cereal; the other food was respectable. The activities are very good. I'm able to do their fitness and meditation classes, we go to movies, we often hear music, and entertainment comes in.

About The Gatesworth in Saint Louis, Missouri
The Gatesworth at One McKnight Place sets the standard of excellence for senior living. Set on a beautiful, 12-acre campus, The Gatesworth, McKnight Place Assisted Living, and McKnight Place Extended Care provide an elegant, residential lifestyle with a full continuum of care for St. Louis area seniors.
Our commitment to quality began over two decades ago with the visionary leadership of our owners, and is carried out by over 230 staff members every day. By listening to Resident suggestions we constantly update our multitude of services and programs, ever mindful of our goal to meet and exceed expectations.
We added dog walking to our concierge services when one Resident was afraid to walk her dog because it was icy outside. We added a second limousine because the demand was there. We posted a flag outside the gatehouse because a Resident asked why a flag was not on display.
It is this kind of attention to detail and open communication with our Residents that helps make our community a home and truly sets us apart from every other senior living community.
Here is just a sampling of the services we provide:
- Full-time Resident Services Director and staff to coordinate recreational, social and educational programs
- Active Residents Association that plans a variety of events each month
- Full-time Personal Associate, dedicated to meeting Resident needs including transportation and personal errands, shopping with you or for you, organizing your apartment, or simply keeping you company
- Weekly housekeeping and maid service
- Dog walking service
- Limousine service for any daily outings, doctor's visits, etc.
- 24-Hour security, emergency response system and daily call assurance
- Maintenance of Residence, common areas and grounds
- Access to 24-Hour nursing assistance and exam room for medical visits

I want to go to The Gatesworth. It was my taste. It was very comfortable. It wasn't homey, but it was top-notch. It was nice looking. I like the feel of it. David, who accommodated me, was excellent. He was very thorough. He answered all my questions. He provided me with everything I needed. He gave me a complete package, took me all around, and showed me every aspect of the place. The food was good, too. It was well prepared and tasted good. They covered all the bases in terms of activities. They had entertainment spots. They had a happy hour. They had a movie theater. They had a recreational area and a card room. They had a workout space. They had classes for people who needed physical therapy. They had a swimming pool. They have a beautiful outdoor garden, which is the thing that swayed me the most. There are two small ponds and a walkway that goes all around it with lots of beautiful plantings. The thing I liked about it is that it has lots of benches where you could sit outside in the sunlight.

Two people from The Gatesworth came out to visit us and brought brochures. My husband hasn't been to The Gatesworth, but I have. They have the whole gamut. They have independent, assisted, and nursing care. They have three restaurants. Everything is gorgeous and elegant. Out of the three places we've been, it's probably the most elegant and well-kept, as far as the grounds. They have a lot a lot of outdoor space to walk. Out of the three, it's my favorite. They have a workout room and a pool. They have facilities that if you're a resident, you can reserve dining rooms. They have a very large apartments that are over 2,000 square feet. We didn't get to see that. We saw a floor plan because we had to make another reservation to see it (which we're going to do). We're going to book an appointment to see inside all the rooms. I had a meal there, and it was wonderful. The staff were very caring.

Lovely place but lots of people and staff and accountability weak. The pill management not very accurate or accountable so be weary if person living there will be on the pill dispersing program . I feel it’s too large for people who need a little more care, though not ready for assisted living

The Gatesworth was very good and had a lot to offer. The staff was helpful. It's a little bit more expensive than other places in St. Louis but I think you maybe get a little bit more personal care along with that. The rooms are a very nice size, had big walk-in closets, and had a relatively new kitchen, counters, and stainless steel appliances. Everyone had a nice deck with French doors. In independent living, breakfast was included, and you have to pay for all other meals. There wasn't a meal plan for independent living. The food was quite nice with a large, varied menus and lots of choices. They had fancier dining rooms for dinner if you want a special event. It's nice.

I think The Gatesworth is beautiful. They have anything you needed to do, and the help is all wonderful as well as the staff. I’ve been sick this week, and they went out of their way to be nice. Everybody is wonderful here. I’m very happy here.

I visited The Gatesworth. This was my second choice for my parents. It was probably the most expensive amongst the facility I visited but it's not out of reach at least for my parents' situation. I like that they have both living options; independent and assisted living and the staff that I met was just outstanding.

The Gatesworth caters to a very wealthy crowd, it’s a very expensive place. It’s like a beautiful hotel. The facility is very clean. They decorate it throughout the holiday with a huge tree in the lobby. They have a doorman who opens the door for you. There’s a limousine that takes people grocery shopping. The rooms are quite beautiful as well. They have everything from assisted living to independent. The staff is very professional. I will recommend this place to someone who has money.

The Gatesworth is run like a combination condo/five star hotel. There are clubs and services, and at least two restaurants. I stayed in a guest suite while visiting my grandmother. The suite had a living room, with a desk, fold-out bed and flat screen TV. The bedroom had a view on the large courtyard with a man made lake and fountain. The bathroom was fitted out with granite countertops, and tile floors.Breakfast are served every day on white tablecloths, with wait staff bring freshly brewed coffee and cooked breakfasts to order. The wait staff know all the residents, and many of the visitors by sight, and usually will bring them "their usual" without being told.Condos are one or two bedrooms, the latter to accommodate visitors. The have modern, well equipped kitchens, and residents can bring their own furniture. Maid service is available. Nursing services are available. There are workout facilities, a movie theater, barbershop, and a beauty salon on site; and many classes and clubs are given on site. The grounds are beautiful, and well maintained, with a lake, fountains, and walking paths.

I got my mother to experience the Gatesworth, but she rejected the whole idea of living in any communities. It's a very nice place. It has a home-like ambiance. The apartments are very nice and big enough. They were fully equipped for independent living. The management was willing to re-decorate if needed. My mother really like the apartments, but then again she is not yet open to the concept of being in an independent living community. I think that among what I have seen in Saint Louis, Gatesworth is by far the nicest.

My grandparents love this facility and so do I. The Gatesworth has many, many activities for retirees of all ages, and the restaurant facilities inside are also spectacular. And the inside is so lavishly decorated that if I didn't see all the retirees about, I would think it was a luxury hotel. The facilities are absolutely gorgeous, and the grounds are just as beautiful - there are wonderful outdoor fountains that look like they should be the subject of paintings. On another note, the staff is absolutely wonderful and helpful. My grandfather has Alzheimer's and my grandmother has Parkinson's, and the staff are both completely willing and able to assist them with absolutely everything which these conditions entail. Staffers are in their room multiple times daily to make sure they remember to take their medicine (my grandfather is forgetful and my grandmother tends to try to self-prescribe, so this is of the utmost importance). Furthermore, those staffers seem like the nicest of people. They are always patient with my often-exasperating grandparents, and they never stop trying to help. Honestly, I don't think I could think of a better place for my grandparents to reside.
