My mom has been at Dougherty Ferry for almost three years and we have had a very positive experience. As my mother's Alzheimers progressed she was moved into Memory Care Unit. During the first few months, there was turn over in the staff which presented some challenges. It has now been almost a year that the head of Memory Care Unit , Giselle, has been in charge and she is truly remarkable. Through her actions, it is obvious that she not only cares for all the residents but also for her staff. She works with her staff to teach them how to individualize the care for each resident. On a Saturday evening, my Mom's two caregivers called to express some concerns about changes in my mom's behavior. They explained how they had spent time with her throughout the day comforting her when she was scared and making sure she felt safe. We talked about her progression in Alzheimers and what the next phase might look like. Recently, they hired an activity director who focuses on Alzheimer patients..... while she is new at the facility her enthusiasm and communication is already present. Since the onset of COVID, I see my Mom through window visits, the entire staff work hard to keep the COVID cases to a true minimum. Having a loved one in a facility during a pandemic can be very stressful, but I truly feel my Mom is in the best place for her. She is always clean, washed, and most importantly happy. The staff of memory care at DF are true frontline heroes!

My partner is moving into Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living & Memory Care. He will have his own private room. It's a small room, but it looked adequate, nice, and modern. There were only 8 residents in the memory care area now, but they could accommodate 25 residents. Their amenities were very good. They had a physical therapy room, a theater, and open areas where people all hang out. The memory care side had its own dining area, and it's closed off from the rest of the place.

We just moved Mom out of Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living. They were understaffed and unresponsive. They had limited activities. They did do medicine and medical help. Supposedly, they offered assistance with everyday living, but it was limited.

Dougherty Ferry is a relatively new facility, so everything is fantastic. The staff is outstanding. There are various size rooms from a studio to two-bedroom apartments. Everything is very nice and clean. The dining room will seat all of their residents at one time, and a separate dining room can be reserved for special events or parties. They have a media room where they show movies twice a week and open that up for special events. They have a full-time nurse on staff, a beauty shop by reservation only, a library, computers, game room, activity center, and different outings that the residents can sign up for. They have buses that take the residents shopping and to doctor’s appointments. Anything that the residents need, they are open to and willing to provide their service. The people are the friendliest I have ever met. I have been dealing with them for a month and a half to get Mom and Dad in, and every person there has been fantastic.

Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care had very professional staff and was very clean and very reasonably priced. I think that the value for the care that you get there is much better than what I’ve seen at other facilities.

I chose Spectrum Dougherty Ferry (Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living and Memory Care) for my mom. It was fantastic. I really was not sure when I was introduced to them whether assisted living or memory care would be appropriate, but in the first conversation with them and with their evaluation of my mother, it was a very appropriate environment. It does not have the feeling of institution like full skilled nursing. It was a brand-new place. The architecture is very interesting and very appropriate for the mission. Their staff is extremely professional and very courteous. They were all veterans of the industry for some time and were really happy to be working there. My mom was an avid gardener, and they have an area that was part of the facility there that she could work in. In the places that I visited, there was been nothing near matching them. Spectrum Dougherty Ferry hands down was the right place for my mom. There were wings of room, but every room had an entryway that people personalized. They made the residents' rooms appear like home. Their style was excellent. They offered a lot of activities every day, like art, gardening, animals, and games.

We put Mom in Dougherty Ferry Memory Care Center. They have new staff and just opened about two to three months ago. My mom likes them very much. They’re very friendly and very helpful. They all seem to get along and do little things for them like wash their hair, paint their nails, and play games with them. She really likes the staff. That’s probably the no. 1 thing that she likes. She likes the structure and the fact that they have meals and pills given out at the same time every day. She likes the friendly staff.
