When I walked into Garden View Care Center, it felt welcoming, like a family. Mom's room is an appropriate size for her needs. The staff has been wonderful. They are helpful. They have a routine that they go through. I haven't had any issues with my mom not getting her diaper changed. In other places I've been to, I was at her bedside, and I couldn't sit by her, but in this place, they do it regularly and automatically. They have a beautician that comes in to do the hair and the nails, and they have doctors that come in, a podiatrist, and a dentist to take care of those things. I think that's pretty much what's very important to them, because they can't get taken out of the facility, and mom can't do that easily at all. The facility has been good. They keep it nice and clean.

My mother was at Garden View after a fall and breaking her pelvis. I think the therapists she worked with had her best interest at heart, and some of the staff truly cared about her, I don’t believe she received the care she should have. The women that work in the lobby/reception area are truly some of the most rude, defensive, and confrontational people I have ever run across. The care team/administration either does not communicate with them, or they have disregard what families are being told. Their COVID restriction is that families are allowed two 30 minute, scheduled, visits per week. The care team had told me that we could have outside visits for as long and often as we like… the people in the front acted as if this was the first they heard of it (keep in mind my mother, and all of the family are fully vaccinated). On each visit she was wearing clothes that don’t belong to her and on several successive visits, was wearing the same clothes that were dirty. When I asked about it, I was met with defensive and passive-aggressive attitudes. We were not allowed to visit her room. As far as personal hygiene.. at times her face looked as if it had not been washed, food was stuck in her teeth and food stains were on her clothes. Even while in the hospital, she did not look like this. In a nutshell, do your due diligence before admitting a loved one to this facility. Inquire to other care facilities and talk to social workers at the hospital. I will forever be kicking myself for allowing my mother to stay here for 2 1/2 months for “rehab”. After moving her to another facility and speaking with the nurse, we are getting her additional PT and OT and I have no doubt we will see her improve.

My mother moved into the Garden View Care Center. I think they provide good care. I haven't had the chance to visit, but they call me with updates. They don't get to eat in the dining room, but I think the food is OK. My mom's kind of picky. She didn't like the food at the other place she was at either. She likes the food some days and dislikes it the other days. The staff is OK. They keep her clothes clean, and they get her up and dressed every day. They come in and pay attention to her.

My mother passed away a few days ago but she was in Memory Care at the O'Fallon location for 5-1/2 years. The staff was wonderful to her! I'm an RN and know what to watch for and I never worried about her......they called me with everything and treated Mom like family. Her room was nice and was always clean. Mom was a difficult person to feed but they were incredibly patient with her. Any concerns were addressed immediately. They only lost two articles of clothing the entire time Mom lived there. When we got to the end of her life, they did everything possible to keep her comfortable. I highly recommend this facility!

My mother was miserable for the entire week she was there! Staff was rude, admissions director was rude and yelled at me upon discharge. I would not recommend this facility for a cat or dog much less a human!!!

My mother was transferred from a hospital to Garden view for Hopsice care. I was there everyday into the evening hours for 6 days until my mother passed away. Instead of being able to visit with her during her last days I, instead had to be her advocate. Examples: oxygen left off 3 times, her special mattress was not inflated, hospice dropped off special mats as my mother fell out of bed twice. (we checked off the request upon admittance for bed rails which never arrived) we had to search out food since my mother wasn't capable of going to the dining area. Some of the nurses were very caring and others were overworked and tired. They check the patients every 2 hours even if that means you have to wait to have a BM for 1 hour 45 min. Medications were not corrected until the 4th day. There was never a care plan in place for my mother. My mother passed away on a Wed and we received the bill a week later. Garden view was very efficient in the billing dept but not in the hospice dept.

We like Garden View Care Center a lot. My mother is very happy there and gets the attention that she needs with the staff to patient ratio of care. They have entertainment, games, birthday celebrations, and happy hours. I would only give them four stars because of an incident that happened; on the sixth day that Mom was there, her wedding ring was stolen.

We liked Garden View Care Center O'Fallon. It was close enough. It had nice rooms. They did not have scheduled time that you had to eat. They had lots of areas for her to do different things if she wanted to. The general feel was very good. The nursing staff was very close to where the respite ones were. They had a coffee bar where they could get coffee any time during the day. They had a television room. They had plenty of activities to do. We spoke to the guy who did the admissions. He was very pleasant. He answered all our questions. He took us around and gave us a tour. He let us know what was required and what was expected of mom while she was there. He was a really nice guy and really thorough. The place was very nice and clean. It did not have an old smell.

My father was in the O'Fallon location for approximately 2 months until he passed away on 10/19. On the October bill, I had to pay $1,100 for rehab that was being submitted to my father's supplementary health insurance. I was told once his health insurance paid the bill, I would receive a refund. His health insurance has paid the bill and I have never received the refund as of today. Numerous phone calls have been made to inquire about this refund and you can never get anyone who will tell you a definite answer on when you will receive the check or why you haven't received it yet. I am sure that they would not allow a patient to stay in their location without payment. Do not recommend this place if you are private pay. Their lack of follow through and customer service has been terrible

Garden View Care Center of O'Fallon was well-run and organized with many activities, and the people seemed like they were always kept busy and happy. Everyone was very kind and wanted to show me around everything, were very cooperative, and answered all my questions. The rooms were very nice and modern. I saw the dining room and their menus. They eat at different times; it was not all one conglomeration of everybody at once, and it was very family oriented. They go outside whenever the weather is nice, they have crafts, and they take the residents to baseball games and whatever they can do. They really try to keep them busy all day long.

Garden View is awesome and mom moved in April 1st. They have stuff every single day, they do crafts, field trips, movies, bingo twice a week and all kinds of stuff. The facilities are huge and the residents can use it for their birthday parties. My mom can't get out, she's wheel chair bound but we can bring the party to her. The staff were wonderful and they kept me up to date.

I was very pleased with this facility. Very clean and well kept. The staff was very kind and friendly. Staff made us feel extremely welcome. My Aunt will be moving from her condo to this facility due to her being unable to care for herself anymore, it is very scary to send a loved family member off into the care of other, but I was very impressed! We toured the dining area, it was very well kept and the food looked like it was excellent. Food staff seemed very king and willing to help. The elderly people in the home were very nice and everyone I talked to seemed to enjoy their living experience here. I think sending my Aunt here will be a wise decision. I give Garden View Five stars, no doubt!

The surroundings were pleasant and mealtimes were restaurant style. The staff was attentive to the needs of the residents and conversation was plentiful. Every effort was made to help the individual rehabilitate and return to their lives at home. My relation staying at this facility had been misdiagnosed. During the rehab sessions, it became clear that the progress being made might indicate a different diagnosis, and the staff was able to work with the new physician to create a better plan to return her to her own home at the earliest possible date. All in all, a nice facility.
