My friend is at The Village of Westland. She's in the building where she was originally. She just was able to get more help. The grounds are nice. It's a clean facility. The staff is very pleasant. It's a friendly place. It's kind of homey. They have different craft classes. They have a choir. They have bingo The dining area is clean and well-kept. I don't eat their food, but it looks good. The price is comparable to the other facilities.

What I like best about The Village of Westland is that you can come and go. I can get to my father to help him and visit whenever I want. It's just hard to figure things out. They're not giving us all the information, but everybody's been great. Cleanliness seems fair, but there are some stains in the carpet and the hallway. They have movie nights, exercise, bingo, and special events that come in. The atmosphere is good. Everyone's very friendly and nice. My father just got the studio apartment so it is on the smaller side, but that helps keep the price down. So, the price is fair.

My mom is in the Village of Westland. The place is friendly, so she has quite a few residents there that she goes to lunch with often. The only issue is that they have a problem keeping staff members, from the cook all the way to the administrative staff. They have a lot of power outages, and they'll be without power for a few days. It's to the point where they have to bring a 40-foot trailer. It was like an air-conditioned trailer that worked as a refrigerator for their food. It was quite a big inconvenience over the summer, because you know how hot it was. The other problem is that they raised the rent. My mom has only been there a little bit, and that took away a lot of income for her medication and other care. We're not happy about that because she has more than enough to take care of herself. The place has had bed bugs a couple of times, so we had to move our furniture out and replace quite a few of them, which was one thing that we weren't happy about. They replaced the carpet all through the hallways, but they haven't done any updates to the residents' apartments. My mom has an apartment with a balcony. It's nearest to the dining hall, and she has a screened-in patio, so we're paying the extra money to get a nice location. But the location has not been what we thought it would be, and I think it's due to a lot of the administrative staff changes. They have exercises and outings where they take them to church or a movie. They also have grocery store shopping. The courtyard is pretty decent. My mom complains about the food. They keep the building pretty clean.

The Village of Westland had quite a bit of stuff on there. From my visuality of the place, it was very clean. There's a lot of staff, and people talked very highly of it. The tour person definitely knows her business. I didn't see a whole lot of the building, but there was an outside courtyard. The apartment was a very good size. They have sliding door walls, and they're putting decks in so the residents can sit outside their door walls, and they're also upgrading the bathrooms. It's also near to a lot of restaurants and a few hospitals

We're leaning towards the Village of Westland. The reason we chose the place was the price. Also they had a choir and my father has been in a choir, that's why we liked that place. He will have a one-bedroom apartment. He had a separate bedroom and he liked that instead of a studio. The staff was very nice. They had a gym for them and they take them out on activities, but the main thing that we liked, and that was for him specific, is that they had a piano and an organ, and they have a choir. That's something that he enjoys doing. They have a common area. It is all on one level, so there's a lot of walking.

I am a resident of The Village of Westland. What I like least about it is I don't have power over my own coffee. I can't make a cup of coffee when I want. We have to wait until they're ready, around 9 a.m. But other than that, it's great. I enjoy the fact that it's a non-smoking facility. The people here are nice. And the facility itself is all on one level. That is a wonderful thing versus where I was before they had stairs. That was dangerous. It's just a great place to live. The staff are very helpful. The food is good. And the facility looks great. There is a beauty salon but it's very difficult to get into. They're only open one day a week. They have church services throughout the week. There's an activity room, kind of athletics room, I guess you'd call it. I haven't had a chance to check it out personally, but they have trips to various places, various stores, and things like that.

I toured The Village of Westland for myself. I liked the fact that they had a two-bedroom apartment that had a walk-in shower, and that's what I'm interested in. There was a lot of room in the two-bedroom unit, and the inside was absolutely gorgeous. Because it's one level, the hallways were very long going to the dining room. Other than that, I liked the way it was set up on the inside. The staff who assisted me with the tour was very sweet. They had housekeeping, a hair salon, meeting rooms, and a common eating area. They had kitchens in the apartments, which was very important to me. But I can eat three times a day there if I want to. They have a laundry service. They have a large mail room, and if the packages are too big they would have their staff deliver the packages to you. The facility looked very good, and it was very big. It seemed to be very well taken care of.

When I visited The Village of Westland, there were activities going on, and there's a lot of people. The meals were good. It was clean. I looked at a one-bedroom apartment, and I really enjoyed how it looked out. It had a patio off to the back. The people were very nice and friendly. They had a room for you to work out in. I know a few people that live there, and they said the food was pretty good. The staff was very good. They got activities, they got a shuttle, they had a rabbit, and they had fresh cookies on the counter. It's really nice. They had PACE, which was their own insurance company, which I liked, but my mom wouldn't like going there three days a week, and so I canceled that and now the cost is back up to $2,197. What's really nice about it is it's really big. You can go from living by yourself, and then they can move you to assisted, and then when that gets bad, they move you right to memory. You don't have to look for anything else. It's all right there.

Mother moved into the Village of Westland last July, and she seems to be loving it. The apartment is very big, and they helped her put up pictures and stuff. My mom enjoyed the meals. The staff do activities with the residents, who get reward points for doing activities. They go twice a day to check the residents and make sure they're eating. They accept pets. They have a Life Alert included in the package.

I thought Village of Westland was just average. The staff was kind. I saw the dining room, and it was good. I have a friend of a friend who moved out there. My grandmother needed a little more help with medication distribution, so that was really the deciding factor and that’s why we went somewhere else.

Village of Westland has good care from independent living to assisted living. From what we saw, I really liked the staff. I don't think they had a pool, but there was a gym and a community center in walking distance that had a pool. It didn't have what we needed.

I visited the Village of Westland for like a half hour. It was a nice place, and they have all the amenities that they should have. They have a community room and transportation for the residents to get together and go on shopping trips. They have everything, but it was just a matter of fitting it in my father's budget, and I was not able to do that. It's a decent place though.

My friend is in Westland Village. The residents get their own apartments, and they have a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and own bathroom, and they have a big dining hall. They also have a recreational hall and a little general store. They check on them every morning and make sure they get out of bed, and all that. She has been there for three or four years already, and she loves it. She also enjoys the food, so everything is good. They get the menu before and circle what they want. They get multiple choices of multiple foods, and she is on the lunch and dinner plan, so she picks what she wants. Then, they have an a la carte section too, where they can just go up and pick out a sandwich or whatever. The apartments are very nice, and they clean them once or twice a week. They do Bingo and movies, and they have music, actors coming in, bus trips, and people going to the store all the time, and then they have Wii and exercises; they have a lot to do. And, they have a nice laundry room. Everything is nice.

I have visited the Villages of Westland, and it's really a nice facility, but we couldn’t afford it. The staff were nice. Actually, everything was nice.

The Village seemed the nicest and the food is wonderful. Everyone is as nice as they could be and helpful. The place feels like having a hug as my friend describes it. It feels warm, caring and giving; all those things that you want when you live some place. I've been here three weeks and everyone knows who I am; This is a huge place.
