The security at Hampton Manor of Burton was good. It was beautiful there. The only thing is, they did not have any one-bedrooms. They had studios and those were small, but they had great common areas. It is like a square and they had a common area in each point of it as well as a cafeteria. It was great and that was one of my favorite ones after the other facility I visited. The staff was very, very friendly. The facility was very clean. Each room was clean. I think at the time we were there, they may have had a leak that they were trying to dry. The only downfall was that sometimes there was no one waiting at the door. So, if you want to come in, they will have to push the button and let you in. You couldn't just enter it. You had to have somebody let you in. The food looked and smelled good.

My sister was placed in Hampton Manor of Burton. I would not recommend them to anyone. We went to it for the assisted living. They evaluated her, and they said that she was in more need of services than we initially anticipated, and so she ended up in memory care there. My initial impression was that it was a nice facility. However, within a week, my sister fell four times. When she started running a temp, they didn't have a thermometer. My sister didn't really need skilled nursing, but within several days, they called me, and they said she fell. Then they called me back the second day, and she fell again. We were there with her mostly 24 hours, but in the time that lapsed between us leaving, she fell. The last time she fell, she slid out of her bed, and she was face down, but they said they missed her between their rounds of 12 and 2. She just lay there. After that, the nurses said to put my sister in hospice care, but that was only for her medication because her original primary physician had retired all of a sudden, so I was having trouble getting her medication. They said, "You can put her in hospice care, and you won't have any problem." However, that was the worst thing I ever did because, from a functioning human being, my sister just went down so fast. Among the people that we dealt with, there were some good people. However, when it was time for them to go home, no one was there to relieve them. They were constantly understaffed. For activities, they did my sister's nails, and they played cards. I can't remember the other activities, but they had some activities. They had problems with the dining area. They put the patients in the dining area, and they only had one person to make sure they were all served. That clearly needed some adjustments there. They needed more people. The whole problem is that the facility was understaffed. Nevertheless, the actual care workers were good, and they tried to help my sister as much as they could. The food was cold, too. They had problems with staffing to get the food out. From the time my sister was there, there were several other families who went and filed a formal complaint because the patients were left alone. There were 15 patients, and they would have one person at night. They also need to hire more staff that is knowledgeable. The aides that they had passing medications didn't even know the function of the medication. I watched them as they administered it. They gave an injection, but they didn't clean the site. They just gave an injection. There were just so many things.
