"All American Assisted Living looked like it would be a very nice place. It was just a little bit expensive. They've got all the conveniences there. They have their own medical staff and your personal grooming is all taken care of right there. The rooms were very nice. They were fairly roomy. Their dining area was very clean and spacious. The staff was very informative. The building is approximately two years old."

"I thought Stonebrook Village at Windsor Locks was welcoming, clean, and active. The rooms were adequate. It seemed that things were kept up very well. The person who gave me the tour was very good, very informative, and answered my questions. He was very patient with my questions. I have not had a chance to try their food, but the dining area looked adequate and clean when I saw it, which was not at mealtime. I would feel comfortable putting my mother-in-law there and having her stay there. I observed bingo, which was well attended. The utdoor space was OK, it's not the greatest for memory care people. It's very small."

"I went to Cedarbrook Village at Ware, and it's only ten miles from where I live now. I liked the place very much, and it would be close to home for me. It's not a big place, and I liked it mainly because it's close to home for me, my friends and family here. And if I went off to another place far away, I probably wouldn't get the visitors that I enjoy. So that's primarily why I want to go. One of the females came here to the house and talked to both myself and my husband. But my husband has recently passed away, so it's just me now. I checked out my apartment, and at the time, I put down the five hundred dollars to hold it. The place wasn't ready for occupancy, and my husband wanted to go there. But then he got ill and we had to stay here at home. But now that I'm alone, I'd like to go to a place like that just to be around people and not be alone. The room was very nice, they had a lovely kitchen, washer, dryer, dishwasher, all the amenities. It was small but quite adequate. We were going to have a one-bedroom. They did have activities and I think they had a media room. They had a chapel, they had an exercise room, they served two meals a day, housekeeping and they had a little pub-type thing. It was quite lovely. Very good. It's right off the main street and there are no grounds to speak of it. It's just a huge building and there's very little grass. If somebody wants to see nature and that sort of thing, they better go somewhere else because it's not like that. We've been invited, and I'm going to take my friend who's also looking for a place, and we're going to have lunch there. The staff I met was very pleasant."

"A residential option for seniors is all that we require once they become old. Doing activities like going to bathrooms, cooking, dressing and showering etc can be undertaken very easily in assisted living. I visited this facility to let my father live a peaceful life. I found it nice, safe and secure for 24 hours. Medical facility is available in close vicinity. The residents enjoy all kind of luxuries at reasonable rates. The facility is quite cheap and does not cost extra burden. Good quality food is available as desired by the residents. Routine is quite attractive and every effort is made by the management to let everyone form part of this home. Residents can contact their siblings and enjoy the facility of transportation for going anywhere. I liked the facility being neat and tidy. It has been experienced that most of the people get settled fairly quickly in this particular facility. Still, if some one feels lonely, staff on duty provides a warm and friendly gesture. Surely, it is a nice place to stay "

"We visited the assisted living community of The Village at Buckland Court in South Windsor. Everything was really good there, except for the cost of everything, because that was gonna be on the higher side. The amenities were wonderful, though. The meals looked very good, like a quality restaurant type. They provided us with a baked loaf of bread on our visit. The staff was friendly, and we met some of the people who live there. They seem very pleasant and happy. They have all the facilities and activities we would be interested in. I think a lot of places are expensive, so I don't take off from that. It was the whole package, and it seemed to have everything. It was very new and up to date as well. The carpets were new, and the walls were painted, so it looked new, and it was all updated. There was a common area that had new carpeting and everything. The staff also listened to what my questions were and provided a lot of information. They helped me understand things that I didn't know, like the differences in the laws between Connecticut and New York about medication and administering IV, such as insulin. I've gotten several emails before and afterwards, just sort of telling me more about tips and tricks and things about caring for older loved ones, and they were pretty helpful. I did not sample the food except for the bread, and it was very good. It was like cinnamon bread. The food that was on the menu for that day had gluten-free options and a couple of different things to choose from. They were sounding like a regular prepared meal, like chicken marsala or something like that. It seemed like it was healthy, and I was impressed."

"Hoffman SummerWood generates a lot of people of the Jewish faith. It is basically built by Jewish people, so the food is kosher, and the majority of their residents are Jewish. There is nothing wrong with that, but I didn't think my parents would acclimate to that type of environment. It was clean and beautiful, but it wasn't what my mom and dad would need. The staff was excellent. The individual that showed us around was great. She answered a lot of questions. At the end, she actually had the chef prepare three meals for me to bring back for my mom and dad. It was a salmon salad, which was just very lovely. It was absolutely beautiful. However, it would have been nice if the grounds were kept up a little bit more. There were patio chairs tipped over, and it could have been because it was raining the night before, but other than that, it was absolutely gorgeous, it just wasn't what my parents would probably feel comfortable in. The rooms were beautiful, but I was looking for a place that had a patio. I was a little discouraged that they didn't have that because that's like a big piece of what would probably sell my mom, the opportunity for her to break out of her room and have a space of her own and not necessarily to have to walk through the whole facility to go out into the courtyard."

"The rooms at Brookdale West Hartford were lovely. The one that I looked at has been newly painted and newly carpeted. The cabinets in the little kitchenette were in good condition, but could still be updated. It's a small kitchenette with nice countertops, so it's adequate and I liked that. The bathroom was nicely set up, too. The only thing was they did not have a lot of closet space/storage space."

"My husband is at The Residence at Brookside in the memory care unit, called Reflections, in his own apartment. It has a nice spacious room for his bed, table, and chairs. It's very nice and has a large bathroom. This place is just about a year old. The facility is practically brand new. What I'm paying monthly now is $8,450. "

"Our family's experience at River Ridge of Avon has spanned 3 years. During that time, our loved one has lived in both the traditional and Memory Care sections. Our overall experience has been very positive with our needs addressed in a timely and professional fashion. The staff in the Harbor Mind and Memory unit should receive special commendation. Our loved one is treated with respect and kindness every day. The staff truly cares about each resident. During the pandemic, the staff went through extraordinary measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the residents. We are very pleased."

"I'm very happy with them. They're taking good care of my mom. She moved in six weeks ago, and her apartment was a glorified hotel room. It's a brand-new facility and better than the ones in the area. The staff and nurses are very good, follow up on everything, and give her medications."

"The staff was very attentive. The place was very clean. They have activities for the residents like gardening. The house and community I saw looked happy. But I kind of put that on the back burner for a while, because I'm not prepared. I'm just not ready for that right now because I'm able to cook for myself, wash my dishes, and clean the house. But when the time comes, and it could be tomorrow, I'll be ready for it. "

"I toured Avery Heights. It was very well kept. They had two-bedroom living quarters, which were plenty of space. Their amenities were very good. They have a nice gym area to keep oneself fit. I couldn't say there was anything I didn't like about it. The dining room seemed very nice. The people I ran across there seemed happy to be there. The staff who helped us were very helpful and very pleasant. They have very good options for independent living. You could live in one of their apartments in the big building, and they also have separate cottages where you could live independently. The variety was very good."
