I visited this facility

I toured Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living. It's a very happy and busy place, which is what I'm looking for. I saw one and two bedrooms. It's very nice. The people who lived there were very happy. The rooms were very nice and they had many amenities. The physical structure was nicely done. I met some staff and the lady who showed us around was very nice and knowledgeable. She kept in touch with me.

I moved into Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living. The price is agreeable to me. The place is very good. The rooms are well laid out and they have plenty of rooms. They have plenty of activities. They have a theater and pool tables. The food is good and three meals a day. The staff is very friendly and professional. They care a lot for the people that are here.

My aunt is in Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living. You have everything, you have all your meals, you have a laundry facility, you have housekeeping if you want it, but if you're living independent you do your own housekeeping. It's got nice balconies. They have a chapel and a beautiful activities room. They have all kinds of functions going on, and cookouts. I would live there in a minute. It's absolutely stunning. It's a beautiful facility. She has a studio, but it's quite spacious. It's about a little under 500 square feet. It has a huge bathroom, three double door closets that you can put quite a bit of clothing in, and a cable hookup. When a new tenant comes in everything is freshly painted. The rugs are clean. It has a little balcony and bright windows. It's independent living. I have to pay extra to have somebody go in and check on her once a day for two hours. The staff is 100 percent great. They're wonderful people. It's a bigger facility. It looks clean. I didn't go in any of the public bathrooms or anything, but as far as the grounds are concerned, it's maintained beautifully, as well as the landscaping. It's a little dated. It has a little bit of late nineties maybe early 2000s feel, but it's still beautiful. The food is delicious. They have stuff going on every day. It's not cheap though.

My mother was at Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living. It was a great place. Berna and her husband, Lou, were amazing. I appreciate all they did for my mom. They made us feel very welcome from the very beginning. The rooms were very nice. The food wasn't great, but it was decent. They had a huge dining area, but the menu didn't have a lot of options. I saw some activities, but it wasn't consistent. They did have activities at different times. They would go out in the summer and they would take trips. The living atmosphere was very comfortable, very homey, and welcoming. The staff and the residents were all very nice. I would recommend it. I think it's great value for the money compared to some of the other places that I saw.

I was very impressed with Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living. Everything was designed to help you. They would use a moving company and they told me that all I would do is sit in the lobby and tell them where to put stuff as they brought it in. If it wasn't for the fact that it's so far from where we live, that would have been our number one choice. The staff was great. They had a big card table in one room and there were a bunch of people playing cards. They had bingo going on and several other things. Their menu was also inviting.

I was impressed with my tour at Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living. It has a very warm, welcoming feeling, and the people would go by and say hello. They were very friendly. I like all of the little living room setups that they have where you can go sit by a fireplace. The staff who gave the tour was very helpful with all of our questions. There was a chair yoga class going on which looks interesting, and they have bingo. But you only get a kitchenette, and I would have preferred to have a full kitchen where I could do some of my own cooking if I wanted to.

Provider Response

Hi Lucille, we're so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and we hope to be of service again to you again in the future!

I have spent a few years looking for a place where my 85-year-old mother will feel comfortable. She's kind of picky about her environment and has moved in and out of a couple of places. She's finally found what she was looking for at Magnolia Heights in Franklin, MA. The layout of the building is great; residents don't have to walk too far to get to the central community areas. Most apartments have balconies. There's plenty of light all around; it doesn't feel stuffy at all. I've shared a few lunches at their dining area and I noticed a good sense of community. Maureen, the activities director, is a fun person to be around and her enthusiasm for her job is contagious. There are plenty of events and activities for the residents to participate in. I especially appreciate that Carolyn, the sales manager, actually listens to her residents and projects a warmth that seems so lacking in other professional retirement communities. She's always available to help new residents get used to their surroundings during the difficult transition of moving in. Some retirement communities feel like they're just a place to live. Magnolia Heights feels like a place where my mother can be at home.

Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living is just basically retirement living. It's independent. They can manage your pills and stuff, but they really couldn't do anything else. The price was very reasonable. It's new (probably three to four years old). Each room had a patio or a deck, so if you wanted your privacy, you could just go outside. When you first walk in, it's the dining room, and there were so many people. I saw one woman coming down, and she seemed very friendly. I asked, "Do you like it here?" She said, "Oh, my God, we love it here." It was very clean. The people were very friendly. I saw the dining area and the lounge. I was very impressed. Everything was manicured outdoors, and it was just very nice. They do everything. The only thing you would be responsible for is your personal cellphone. It's basically the same as assisted living, but they don't have that. They take you on tours, they have entertainment, they have everything that an assisted living would have. I actually just talked to the manager. She was extremely nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. She helped us make a good decision. The residents were all sitting in the dining room, but they hadn't been eating yet. I know they had menus on their tables and it was a very large dining area. I saw mostly women.

I loved Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living. If I had to pick one for my mom right now, it would be that place. I loved the open concept of the grand foyer, the dining room, the entertainment, and the large hallways. Everything about it just felt so fresh, new, and friendly. They had games on different levels; there were three floors and each floor had something to do. One was with a pool table, while the other one had people playing a big game of chess. The rooms were excellent. They were roomy and the dining area was comfortable. It seemed more like you were in a hotel, as opposed to being in a cafeteria or just a room. It was open and looked great. They have a lot of activities, like celebrating different holidays throughout the year. They have an exercise room, a washer and dryer, and activities that are similar to everybody else. They also have a garden outside.

I visited this facility

I went to Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living three months ago. It was very attractive, well maintained, it's a fairly new project as well, I think it's probably about five or six years old. It was fully occupied, very convenient to downtown Franklin, and seemed to be a nice operation. The few people that I met there were very courteous and friendly. They have a complete list of activities. They have all kinds of exercise programs, games, a movie theater, a playing pool, and a huge comfortable cafeteria. They serve three meals a day, they have card games, whatever people can enjoy, bingo, and they have quite a spectrum of activities that you could participate in if you're interested.

Provider Response

Thanks so much for this wonderful review! We're so glad to hear you were impressed with Magnolia Heights and all of our amenities.

Currently I believe Magnolia Heights is a wonderful blend between independent living and assisted living. It is more affordable than most places without comprising in anyway. The atmosphere is welcoming and comforting. The rooms are all of different size and priced accordingly. The building is fairly new, kept very clean and well maintained. Mom has been there for three years and we have visited her there often. There has been a turnover in management. Some terrific and a few not great. Currently the managers, and assistant managers, who live onsite are fantastic, energenic, caring people who appear to be very well suited for their positions. ALWAYS helpful, sincere and compassionate toward all residents. I wish all seniors could have such a great place to retire to. There are many activities available. The meals provided are of great quality and variety, served in a very lovely grand dining area that encourages socialization. If you speak with the residents there you will not likely hear complaints. We have had many wonderful family gatherings there, including Mom's 90th birthday party. I'm grateful we found this place for her to live.

Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living is 55 and older and doesn't have assisted living or other levels of care. They have studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom apartments. It's a gigantic place and meals are included which I like because I don't feel like cooking anymore. They clean and they also have a laundry service so I can just think of myself and do what I want to do. They have a library, theater, craft classes, transportation that takes you to appointments, and a bus. They have a kitchen area if you want to cook and most of the apartments just have a kitchenette with a sink, a couple of cabinets, and a refrigerator. They seem to have everything.

Up until a couple months ago I would have rated this place at a very low 3, however many excellent changes have been made though the whole complex. That includes food services though to management. Like I said, at this point I would highly recommend this facility. The biggest problem right now is there isn't enough parking including handicap. Come and look around, you might like it.

I’ve been to Magnolia Heights quite often. The staff was excellent, and the chefs were very good. I never had any problem. I had a lot of dinner things with them, and the waiters and waitresses were very well-trained. They are being taught about what they are doing to make sure that everything is right. The management factor changed somewhat; they have made some changes.

Magnolia Heights left me kind of cold. They explained their policy about breakfast being at 8:00, and you have to be there or you don't get anything. Nothing could be made available for those who couldn't make it by 8:00. It was well-run but kind of stiff. I almost had the feeling that I was back in basic training with getting up and doing this and that at a certain time. Everything was time-wise as far as I can see, and the reason for it is because that's the only reason they can keep their cost down. There's no argument that it's a beautiful facility, and outside of the facility it looked like condos; it was clean.

Magnolia Heights is brand new and beautiful, and it doesn’t feel like a nursing home. That staff is very professional and caring. Mom has been playing bingo, watching movies, and goes to the meals together with the other people. She has only been there two weeks, and the food was very good so far.

This facility is run like a instution where every thing is on a time table. Before I go any further with this review I must say the the facility is fantastic and the staff is good. My BIG complaint is the dinning area. The food will keep you alive, but your sure as heck will not gain a pound in fact if one needs to loose weight this is the place to eat. Breakfast is served at 8 AM and God help you if you come at 8:10 you might not get the first part of the meal if it had been severed already. That goes with all 3 meals. Right now they have a corporate person here to teach the waiters/waitresses how to move wagons around without bumping into each other. I could say a lot more however I'll be quiet for this review. The corprate lady should have stayed away as most think the staff was doing an excellent job and took a few minutes to talk with residents. Again it is to time orientated.

I like that Magnolia Heights is a new facility and that they also offer assisted living and nursing care, if my loved one would move to that later. The rooms, the dining area, and the building were nice. The facility was beautiful. The people whom I met were all very helpful, and I felt very comfortable there. The rooms were good-sized, well laid out, and they looked like a very comfortable place to live in. They had organized activities, cards, and board games, and it seemed like they always have something new to do.
