"Heartlands at Ellicott City have 48 acres of land and it is a beautiful place. They have small bungalows, efficiency apartments and one-bedroom apartments. The bungalows are spread throughout the property. They also have a nice little patio. This community is close to my granddaughter so I can visit my two great-grandchildren, and for me, that is the best thing that I like about Heartlands. "

"I liked the location of The Red Door Assisted Living. It was very close to my house. The meals are included and my father would have had his own room. They provide activities and transportation. The staff was very nice and very thorough. It's a tough decision to make and the lady there helped us through that process pretty nicely, even though we didn't end up going there. The community was a little outdated. It's a little small, but that didn't bother me (I think it probably would bother some people). I thought a smaller place was better. The other good thing about their place is they didn't have any stairs. It was all on one level. So, it would have been easy for my father to get around."

"I went to Lighthouse Senior Living at Ellicott City. Everyone was very pleasant. Even the clients that were sitting around were smiling. They didn't look like they were going to die that day, they were enthusiastic about life. The apartments were adequate for my needs. They were pretty big. I spoke to some of the ladies who were living there. They seemed pleased with their rooms. I looked in one or two of the rooms of the people that were sitting there and they let us come in and look, and they seemed like they were adequate for what I need. They showed me the library and the beauty salon, and the courtyard was very nice and shady with tables and umbrellas. It was really neat. It looks very clean and new. It didn't look rundown."

"This facility is exceptionall! The staff works VERY close with us to ensure mom's care needs are handled. She wasn't very active, and veryy reluctant to transition into a facility. Now she's become a social butterfly! The place is beautiful, bright and ALWAYS CLEAN! Activities are always coordinated for Mom. The Nurses and therapist are very sweet. After 2 years, I'm happy to say we've made the right choice! "

"I toured several AL homes for my grandmother and I must say this home is by far the best. The house is very spacious and clean. The residents are in shared rooms, however they have their own space to walk around they even have their own chair in the rooms. They are also provided with their own dressers to store their personal belongings. The owner is very Knowledgeable and caring for the residents. Its shows on the residents faces. When I did my tour the resident was at the table playing a game of bingo. This is more than an AL, the owner created a comfortable home for the residents."

"I went to Mabel's House Assisted Living. I like the way it was set up. They had a private room where you share. It was more home-like. It's very clean. They had enough people there to assist the seniors. I liked it a lot. It was very nice. The staff was excellent. The facility was excellent. It was clean. It was nice and cool. It had a bar and a kitchen, like the island. It had enough bathrooms for everyone. It was a house. I was surprised. They had one person do the washing and cleaning. They had enough employees. It was very nice."

"I must say Waterfalls is a wonderful memory care facility. The management and staff go above and beyond to make your loved one feel as comfortable as possible. The rooms are always kept nice, the residents are clean, the food is delicious and the facility is beautiful inside and out!"

"A good friend of mine has her mother here and on her behalf I want to rave about this facility! My friend of 30 years had to put her mother in an Assisted Living and it was a difficult process for her. She had worked with Lisa and thanks to Lisa's kindness, patience and knowledge, she was about to help my friend during a difficult time. My friend was so appreciative of the time and energy Lisa put in with her. I highly recommend this facility, not only for the kindness of the workers, but the cheerful feeling you get when you enter the building! The nurses are great and trained properly when dealing with the elderly. I also like seeing people out for activities in the lobby. It's a good feeling walking into the building and seeing happy faces. "

"Serenity Garden Manor was very nice. Everything was very clean. The people were professional and looked like they took such good care of their residents. They had a nice dining area and a little recreation room with a TV. The facility was on two floors, so they had stairs, but they had a chair lift to come down. The rooms were nice as well."

"Paradise Assisted Living knew I was coming (even if my visit wasn't announced). The facility seemed clean. All the residents seemed to be well cared for. I liked the layout of the facility and the activity room. Then they showed me one vacant room and the room accommodations would fit my mom's needs. They have a space for a small refrigerator. I also liked the fact that for memory care residents, this is a locked-down facility. My mother needs that as she wanders. The staff seemed friendly and they answered my questions to the best of their ability, but the lady (who seemed to be a care provider) wasn't able to answer some of my questions. They should have someone available at least for a limited time on a Saturday who can answer the financial questions/management because many people work and can't get there to visit these facilities Monday through Friday."
