Assisted Living Reviews for Morningside House of Satyr Hill

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If your family member needs a lot of care this is a terrible place to bring him or her in. If he or she needs to be fed they have done a terrible job at feeding our family member to the point that he or she can lose a lot of weight in just a couple of weeks. The staff there does a terrible job with administering the medications. They may give the wrong medication or the wrong amount of the correct medication, or they may not even give the medication they're supposed to. At times they don't even know how to count the number of days that the medication has to be given. They don't even see that the person is getting sick, if you're not there they will not see it. Some of the staff is rude, they may lie to you and they clearly tell you with their manners that they don't want to see family members around I guess so they can do whatever they want. One time the POA was not given access to a medical record which is against the law then that nurse lied about it. In two occasions our loved one appear with some wounds nobody could tell us how it happened. They clean the wounds every 48 hours but at times they don't even do it after 3 or 4 days because they are totally incompetent at what they do. Wounds should be clean at least once a day not once every 48 hours, that is totally crazy. You couldn't find worst staff. If your family member has to return from the hospital he or she will have to get lto Morningside by 2 p.m. otherwise you will not be allowed in until the next day because they don't have nurses after 2 p.m.. They are fanatical, inflexible and totally incompetent. Again if your loved one needs a lot of attention and care and be giving medications stay away from this place like it's a plague.

I visited this facility

My mom decided that she liked the Morningside House of Satyr Hill, so this is probably where we will go when we feel that she needs to go somewhere. It was a nice place, the rooms were a lot nicer than the other place, and the setup was a lot better. My mom just felt more comfortable with this place. The people were very nice. They have a community center where they have everybody come and do exercises.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to write a review; we look forward to welcoming your mom as a resident!

I visited this facility

My tour with Morningside was great, the rooms were very nice, and the entire area was very nice. It was very well-kept, and it was a very nice environment. The staff was extremely friendly.

My dad is at Morningside House. They had furniture in the room. My dad did a 30-day period and seemed to fit in pretty well, so I chose to keep him there. The staff were knowledgeable and seemed to really care about the people who were there. They were very attentive to them, and I'm very pleased with the care that my dad received. They have people come from the outside, a barber that comes in once a week, and a gentleman that comes in and plays music. My dad seems to be doing very well.

Eight years ago Morningside at Satyr Hill was a nice place to live. Someone dusted and cleaned the halls and common areas daily. The meals featured donuts and pastries at breakfast, a wonderful assortment of desserts and entrees such as coconut shrimp. Now, on the rare occasion donuts and pastries are served, residents receive half of one. Coconut shrimp has been replaced by everyone's favorite, sweet and sour pork, and bananas are no longer the norm. The weekly cleaning is a lick and a promise if the regular cleaning person doesn't show up. Yes, the rooms are generally nice, and they spend a fortune on decorating the common areas, but don't judge a book by it's cover. Stop in at odd hours and randomly ask residents how they like living there, particularly the food.

Morningside seems like a pretty good place. It's clean, bright, and they seem to do a good job. The rooms are on a small side, but they don't need much more than that. There's something going on all day. They have bingo as well as people come in to play music and sing. The staff is really good. Everyone seems well taken care of. They help my aunt with her therapy, getting dressed, showering, and getting her into bed.

Morningside House at Satyr Hill was the closest we liked that was close to my father's original neighborhood. The staff were very cordial and looked after the needs of the residents for the most part. The room was bright and spacious, and he shared it wiith someone else. They had many activities like arts and crafts, music various nights a week, movies, outings, shopping, dining out, etc. I especially liked the spacious dining room and the living area which had a sun room connected to it.
