My sister moved into Aventura at the Heights. It's an old house that has been refurbished, there's a lovely lobby/sitting area that leads into the dining room. She's fortunate because her room is right across from there on the first floor, so she doesn't have very far to go. I heard that there are two other floors, but I've never seen them. There is an elevator, but I don't know who's up on the second or third floor, but she's on the first floor. In the short time, she's been there, everybody has been very lovely, kind and attentive. I'd say, for the most part, some more than others, of course, but I feel like she's well cared for. They can improve in their response time though.
She has her own kind of studio apartment, but it's a small studio. It has a full bathroom in there and then a little kitchenette. It has a refrigerator and some cupboard space. We put a microwave in there.
There's like some sort of an exercise group in the morning and then they have trivia. They have movie nights. In the room where they eat, which I guess is the biggest room there, they have activities in there. I know they had some sort of speaker and like some sort of video, they were showing to their residents. She hasn't started yet, but she'll be getting physical therapy soon. The dining room is spacious, it looks like tables of four, although some people had put them together so they could be more sociable. It's very, very clean, and it smells clean, there is no strange odor. We were surprised because we had looked at four other places, and I believe the other four places were a little bit more expensive. This seemed to be somewhat more reasonable. It's worth the money.
She seems to be doing well and she appears to be very happy there.
