"I went to Azalea Estates of Slidell for my mom. It was a very welcoming facility. The director was very nice and very helpful as far as working with us on a budget. I got a tour of one of the one-bedroom apartments they have, and they were very spacious with nice amenities and showers and all that, so that part was a big plus. They have three square meals a day, nursing care, and activities. They shuttle the residents to and from doctors' appointments and the grocery store. And they have game nights and things of that nature. The staff was very nice and very, very helpful. The facility was very nice and well-kept."

"I toured Brookdale Mandeville. It's a great community and a very nice place. Lots of sunshine and lots of private rooms. I liked it, and that they had a lot of small rooms instead of huge rooms. They're very very cheerful and the dining facility looks good. I only met one person, and she wasn't the person to really do the job. It was a Saturday, so she was not a regular person. I knew that she was well-received by the people because I could see the reaction of the people to her."

"Toured the Windsor with my parents and it was amazing! The entire community was just renovated and everything is so bright and clean. The residents all stopped and talked to us because they didn't recognize us. They all told us how much they loved living there and that made a huge difference to my parents. They already made friends and they don't even live there yet. We toured the three different style apartments and they were all so nice. They were very large and everything was fresh and new. They really liked the 1BR and the 2BR. Every room or hallway smelled so clean, much different than our other tours. The marketer was so polite and charming and he had so much patience with my parents. Truly can not wait till they decide to sell their home and move into the Windsor. The food also looked really good, we were able to tour the dining room during lunch and had we not eaten beforehand we would have definitely taken the marketer up on lunch. Best tour by far!"

"Arts Senior Apartments is a converted school that they've turned into independent apartments. The apartments are nice. They're enough for one-bedroom, two-bedroom apartments that they have. The one-bedroom that my uncle was looking for was just a little smaller than what he could be able to have his furniture in. He has a hospital bed, so the bedroom was not going to accommodate that. The staff was helpful and nice. They have the maintenance workers. If you need anything, you can just easily call and say, Hey, I need a maintenance man for this, and they're right there on-site. They don't have any type of activities there. You are a senior who's pretty much kind of taking care of things on your own, but they have services and things that they would have available to come to the location. You have a storage unit that comes with your apartment. You have the washer and dryer hookup in the apartment, and a lot of independent living seniors want that. They have a little recreation part that's outside, or the gym, but that's pretty much all. Everything was fine because they went by your income. All of that was perfect. It was just the sizing of the apartment that didn't sell my uncle. If you have a single person who is OK with about 750 square feet of an apartment, it would be great. If they didn't need certain handicapped things for their railing on the bed or something like that, it would be OK."

"PACE is a really nice facility. They are located in a nice area and convenient to my mom. They're also expanding and renovating. I went there to observe for about two hours, how many clients were there, what kind of activities do they engage the residents in, how the facilities look, whether they offer transportation, what kind of nursing assistance they have to support mom in terms of walking or going to the bathroom. They have physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing assistants on site. They provided all-inclusive care for elderly. They also offered in-home assessment for my mom, so I was pleased. "

"I had two family members at ST Margaret’s for rehab with in weeks of each other. Both got excellent care. The rooms were private and clean and all rehab rooms have been upgraded with television and cable. I toured other nursing homes and this one was by far the most home like. The staff were very accommodating and lovely. "

I valued the time that a health professional spoke with me to see that their staff really understood how to work with aged adults. I thought it was more helpful as oppose to a marketing person. They have a large number of elderly people who are using the services. Their areas were not as modern, but the clients were really engaged. They have a child care program that was on the same site. It's sort of opportunities for multi-generational interaction. "

"Facility is dirty. Residents are not attended to very well. Our family member was often left in bed and dirty. My family requested that our family member be taken out of bed and dressed everyday, which was completely ignored. Staff did not bath our family member often. SOme staff members were unprofessional and rude when you ask questions, especially the residents individual nurse. "

"The reviews listed on this site are very old and are out of date. The facility is named St. Bernard Nursing and Rehab and the care is great! My aunt just completed her therapy and is back home and can't stop praising the staff there. She is very appreciative of how kind and friendly everyone is and wants to go back there to volunteer as soon as she can. The facility deserves the 5 stars from me. "

"My mom was at Unity Nursing Home. The facility was not clean. Their first floor airconditioning unit was broken. We have to bring her fan. After I complained about the heat, she was transferred to the second floor, and it was extremely cold up there in the room that she was in. She was there for a rehab because she had a stroke, but she wasn't getting any physical therapy at all. My mom needed round-the-clock care but they didn't come in and check on her as regularly as I wanted. "

"We've decided to go with Westbank Lighthouse because it was small. The staff was friendly and answered all my questions. I liked that they have single rooms with only one person in a room. The room is a very good size, and it was also furnished. I saw everything they have, they had two living rooms, and in everything, there's just plenty of space. It was very clean."
