"The Haven at Windermere is very clean and very professional. The staff is great with my mom. The buildings and the grounds are great. Location is perfect because it is close to where I live. I've tried their food, and it is good. All in all, it is worth what I'm paying for."

"I liked everything about it. The only thing for me is I live in St. Francisville and it is too far away for me to put my mother. That's the only downfall. But if I were to be living closer, that would it would be a good option. I looked at both assisted living and memory care. I only met the reception area and the young lady that gave me the tour. The person who gave me the tour was excellent and the facilities look very accommodating. They have a courtyard, a salon, a gym, a couple of gathering places, and there's a piano for the guests. It was very clean, and they say the staff goes into the rooms and clean, and the outside of the facility looks clean."

"Garden View Assisted Living Baton Rouge was very nice. The extra services were just more expensive. We would have been paying more and had to do more legwork. We would still have to go to the grocery store for Momma all the time, like we're doing now. It's kind of more just an assisted living place, really. They did have memory care, but it's real small, and they didn't have any openings. They seemed to be always filled up. The minus of the place was they just didn't offer as much as the others, like incontinence supplies and things like that. You have to provide that kind of stuff, which is kind of odd. Whereas the other places have a program for it. We visited the memory care unit, and it was very nice. The inside was very nice and smelled well. It's a very put together place. It would have been our second choice for sure if we would have had to put Mom in a place, and the other one wasn't available. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they definitely seemed to have more staff. They just don't offer the care that I'm looking for that the other place offers. They could have an incontinence program for the memory care because one of the main issues for people with dementia and Alzheimer's is the incontinence that they have."

"My mother in law has been a resident for over 2 years. They are one of the few assisted living facilities that offer a separate area for those residents with dementia issues, called Memory Lane. It is nice to know that we will not have to change facilities as her Alzheimer's advances. Administration and staff are wonderful! "

"The grounds were well-kept and it didn't smell like other homes for the elderly that I'd been in. The staff was nice and escorted me to the friend I visited when she had moved or was outside of her room. Sometimes it seemed like an inordinate number of people were sitting in the halls unattended, but otherwise I thought it was a nicer facility than most I've been in. "

"Mother lived in La Plantation Retirement Community for 2 years. It was very good. There, she had an apartment, and she did her own laundry. They had activities and a cafeteria; she ate well there, so the experience was good. The staff was extremely nice. I still keep in touch with the lady that owned it; she became a friend as well. La Plantation has good food for breakfast and for lunch. At supper, they had sandwiches most nights, and I wasn’t that thrilled with that. Sandwiches at night were not something that mother was used to having because she liked something warm for supper. When she wanted some soups or noodles that she could add some water to and put it in a microwave, I had supplies of that taken in for her so that she could eat whatever she wanted. To me, the beauty of the grounds was phenomenal. They had fountains, fish pools, and a beautiful, great, big three-towered fountain in the front that they could go sit around. They had little park areas in the building that had fish ponds with benches that they could sit around. That really stood out to me because it gave them something other than just seeing the inside of a building. "

"My father moved into Fidelis King Richard. It's a residential home. It's a single family residence that they've converted into a care home. It seemed to give a homey feel rather than an institutional feel. So far, so good. It hasn't really been too long, and I visited him a few times. They're taking dementia patients and so far, he's doing well, but with dementia patients you just really don't know. I did not eat, but I saw the residents eating. It's got all the necessities and it seems to be a good facility. They watch movies together and eat together. I don't know other activities."

"Both of my parents have been living in Maison de Fleur's Assisted Living facility in Denham Springs, LA since July 14th, 2018 since my dad's stroke. It took them about 2 months to get acclimated and feel like they were home. From that point, they both have been extremely happy and enjoy their living experience at Maison. They enjoy the staff, the outings, the planned activities, the entertainment & parties. As the adult child helping them through their elder years, it is encouraging to know they are being well taken care of and are happy. I highly recommend Maison for all of your Assisted Living needs for your family. They have a library, Salon and weekly bible studies, too, which my parents enjoy. The food is a good, usually dessert too after each meal. Rooms are a great size and the monthly rates are reasonable."

"We liked Colonial Care Retirement Center a lot. It smells good and doesn’t have that nursing home smell. They do stuff that they aren’t even required to do for my mama. When she first gets up, she’ll be nauseous, but they’ll bring her a breakfast tray to her room. They don’t have to help with the laundry -- it’s extra -- but they had been helping her with it. They do a lot of little things as far as helping her to be comfortable and happy there. It’s harder for her to be able to eat because her esophagus doesn’t work, but as far as the way the food is presented and cooked, there’s not an issue with that. She says it’s pretty good. The location is very convenient for us. She has a much larger studio room with a big window. The kitchen area is very huge, nice, and bright, but it’s kind of small. They have at least 3 or 4 things every day. They have bingo and sing-alongs. We’re very Catholic in South Louisiana, and they do have the rosary once a week. There are a couple of times a month that they take them to Wal-Mart. Each month, they go to a different restaurant. You can go if you want to, and you don’t have to if you don’t want to. For Christmas, they have family day. "

"My mother has been in St James Place for less than a month now. So far, it's been outstanding. They have worked very closely with us, from my initial visit up to now. There's not a single negative thing that we could say. It's been great. Her room is just a single-person room, and she has no roommate, so it's a private room. I don't recall any room options that they have in the memory care section, but I like the security of it, and that's important to us. We have access to her, not just at the window or on the cellphone, and we can visit her twice a week. Their prices are on the high side, but they were willing to negotiate with us to help meet our budget."

"I went to Southside Gardens Assisted Living Center. It was nice. For independent living, there were one-story cottages. They had a pool for aerobics for the residents. The staff was nice. I only saw a one-bedroom apartment."

"Beautifully landscaped courtyard and private grounds, complete with recreational area for relaxing & socializing. Secured & gated, providing residents with safety & security. Licensure by the Louisiana Department of Social Services. Its position it's the very best, full of nature and life, it's a really perfect place to have a walk, the staff it's rather nice even if a saw better places sincerely, anyway the kindness of nature and the tranquillity of the place it's what to me makes this place special. The city of Baton Rouge it's pretty also, but somehow there aren't many buses to get to the city center, so sometimes you may feel a little bit isolated, and you can't get the guests to a daytrip in a museum or a cinema or something like that. In summer it may gets pretty hot, and the wooden structures doesn't helps at all! Beautiful place, rather beautiful people but bad structures and bad position. "

"My visit to The Care Center was pleasant. I visited this facility because my mother-in-law lived here before she passed on. She was no longer able to live alone in her apartment, so our family searched for an assisted living facility. Upon finding the facility we conducted a tour and decided that The Care Center would be the place where she would reside. The staff was friendly as well as personable. They learned her name very quickly to make her feel at home, as well as learning mine, my husband's, as well as my sister-in-law's name, being that we would be visiting her quite frequently. The amenities were good as well. The room itself was nicely sized since she would not be doing much moving around on her own. The facility itself was nice in that it provided exercise for her since she was unable to really move around a lot. My mother in law passed away months ago, but at least her transition was done around people who loved and cared for her the most. "
