This is a nice place. They do your laundry, clean your room and cook your meals. Food rates only about 3+. Lack of variety mostly. People are friendly and staff is great. I loved the pond and waterfall and especially the baby ducks born there every spring.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Extremely short staffed. Memory care patients are neglected. Residents are fed horrible food and KOOL AID as drinks. (Plenty of proof of above claims). My grandma was left to sit in soiled undergarments after a stomach bug to the point of sores on her bottom. Wrong medicine is being handed out and the staff claims they cannot take temperatures or blood pressures. Supposedly they do not have doctors on call either.... at a nursing home.... Staff is INCREDIBLY rude to residents and family. Yesterday my grandma was left in her room until 11am before my mom got there and went to find out why she hadnt been given breakfast, just to be told they were too short staffed and busy.... Hospice was involved and pushed to get my grandma moved ASAP. This place is absolutely appalling. Avoid at all costs

Addington Place of Des Moines is nice. The facility is a little older, but it's extremely nice. It looks almost like they're in the country, and they have a wooded area around them. The lady was telling me that often at times they see wildlife that walks through their yards like deer and turkeys and stuff like that, which is kind of cool. They own a lot of ground behind them as well, so if they ever want to expand, they could. They do both memory care and assisted living, and I had considered them. They take Medicaid and VA, but before they accept Medicaid, you have to be there for two years, and then they would accept the Medicaid. The memory care unit was very nice and well-kept. The assisted living apartments were very nice as well. They have studio apartments for one person, and then they also have the one-bedroom for two people. They were very nice. And they had nice areas around, too, if you wanted to visit.

It was my second choice for my sister, we just couldn't get a room there right now. It was a very nice place, and they had a nice courtyard. The staffs who gave the tour were very pleasant and informative. I haven't eaten there, but they had a good menu for their food, and if you don't like what they're having, you can order something else for yourself. They had activities inside that you could also do, and they also take field trips. The facility was very clean, and it was fairly close to restaurants and hospitals.

I thought they had a very homey type atmosphere, and had good activities for the people living there. The rooms were set up nicely, I liked the outdoor walkway they had, the landscape, and everything was really nice for my parents. They seemed to be really caring. They had a bag toss baseball, and it turned out they have a league between the homes for that. That's really cool for the older people to have something like that, a competitive thing, just to show that at those ages they could still have a competition.

I visited here. Everybody was very nice, very helpful, very engaged with all the residents, and very caring. There was so much attention paid to the residents, so everybody was like one big family. I would definitely recommend it. The food was good, it was clean, and there were lots of activities and lots of people participating.
