"My mother has moved into Ramsey Village. The employees there are very helpful and extremely friendly. They know all their residents and they treat them all with respect. They appear to have, and have so far after the first week, been able to provide her with the care, both physical and emotional, that she needed. The atmosphere is excellent. From the medical attention she gets from the nurses and the doctor, shower support, to the aides that assist in dining and nutrition, they've been excellent. They understand that there's a settling in period of time and that they work to make the transition from a home owner to a tenant in an assisted living facility. Her apartment is nice and comfortable. It has all the things she needs for assisted living. The roast chicken was delicious. They were a bargain at the five-star level."

"3801 Grand is in the same neighborhood that I would like to be in. It isn't as large as a community. It has 38 residents so it seemed like a very friendly community. The input that I was getting from talking to the administrator was very receptive and very proactive. She called right away and she listened to what I would like, and then made arrangements for my son and myself to have separate apartments within the same floor. They have the evening meal available and some house cleaning services. I will not have any extra bills to consider. As far as utilities and everything, it would all be covered, except for my phone. They did great follow ups. The person I interacted with was excellent. When I went there, the receptionist seemed welcoming. The staff person I've been working with is the marketing staff. She just informed me that she's going to be out of town, and who I could reach in the meantime, so I appreciate that. The place is well maintained. They had activities. I was interested in their underground covered garage. They didn't have an entrance fee. You just have to pay a deposit, and I understand it's refundable if you want to leave. They had some activities that I thought I would be interested in. They have a gym and a full kitchen in the apartment."

"Rooms were Very spacious and clean Food was very good and the wait staff very friendly Every month was full of wonderful activities. Allese & Tina at this facility was phenomenal, had huge heart and was so helpful with a difficult family situation. the rest of the staff was also great. They work like a fine oiled machine. The transportation gentleman was also courteous and helpful. Angie the physical therapist was so helpful and kind and did all she could for us. Thank you to everyone!"

"I toured Rock Creek Senior Living. They had 24-hour care. It looked like a nice, comfortable place. The room seemed a little small, but maybe that's just what they are for assisted living. Everyone was very friendly. The residents seemed comfortable and happy. They had physical therapy. They had rides. They had activities. They have meals. They had a beauty shop. The staff was very nice. The dining area was nice. They had a large eating area. It looked comfortable."

"Bickford of Urbandale was well laid-out and easy-to-follow building. Everybody seemed friendly. The apartments seemed nice. They had a good view out of their window, a nice landscape, wildlife birds, and small creatures like that. The rooms were small."

"Edencrest at Green Meadows was a new facility in a beautiful environment. I felt that it had adequate open spaces. The programming seemed to be very good, especially for the memory care unit, which was the unit we were especially interested in. I liked the overall setup of the facility and felt that it would be a very homey place. They had assisted living and memory care."

"We toured the Elite Lodge of Ashworth. We liked the facility, we liked the people, and we liked the floor plans. The staff was very nice, very good, very helpful, and very pleasant. The one that we liked was a one-bedroom plus a den. We had lunch when we were there."

"Holiday Illahee Hills was very nice and very clean. They were waiting at the door for us. When I explained to the woman our circumstances, right off the bat, she told me that it probably wasn't where my loved one needed to be and that we needed more hands-on care. So, she didn't beat around the bush and try to get me in there just to get him in there. We went through the dining area and into a private room and talked. The dining room was very well-kept and smelled good. The grounds are kept well and people were visiting."

"My father was here for 20 days and passed away. It was fabulous. He got COVID a week ago and that pretty much was our problem. I couldn't have asked for a better place. It was wonderful. He went in and just fit right in with everybody. He could communicate with people that were basically about the same as him and they had activities that he would go to. He played bingo, he played balloon basketball, and they would have film-type things like national parks and history. The meals were great. He had snacks three times a day. He had a private room at that time and then he did get a roommate later on, but then he got COVID and nobody ever knows where they get it from. He went downhill and of course, being 99 years old, he enjoyed the last two-and-a-half weeks of his life."

"Mom is in Holland Farms Senior Living. It's a very, very nice place. It's very modern, beautifully decorated, very clean, and well maintained, and they've got a very nice staff. They have a very nice dining area. They had a Christmas party on Tuesday night. My mom likes to walk and there's a place there for her to walk and she enjoys that. The food is excellent. I haven't eaten anything, but I've looked at the menus and it looked like they would be very good. The activities are excellent too. They take them on rides and they have church activities and things like that. They have a lot of things and they keep it very interesting for them. Comparatively, their pricing is very competitive."

"My tour at Edencrest at The Legacy was very nice. Everything was pretty much included, like the laundry. They had a nice place to eat that's restaurant style and they'd come out to take your order. If you didn't like the special, you could order something else. They had their main area where did their exercises, it's set up like the main sitting area. They did trips, when we were visiting they just got back from taking a tour somewhere to look at the scenery. The room that I saw was a decent size, they have private rooms. They had a salon, it was a nice building. Everything seemed nice and kept up there."

"Bickford of West Des Moines was very, very nice. Of the two places we looked at, that was actually the bigger of the rooms. That was a very good-sized room. They said they do quite a bit of activities for them. The staff was all very nice, very cheerful, and very positive."

"My father was at Woodlands Creek Retirement Community. He was in a two-bedroom independent apartment. The apartments were completely redone between residents, so everything was new and fresh. It was set up wonderfully. Their fees were reasonable, and the family feel was evident. They had different layouts. They offered all kinds of activities going on throughout the day. There's underground parking and transportation to various things if needed. The interaction with the staff was wonderful. Really good. They provide breakfast and lunch, and it was very good."
