It looked like they had lots of things to do. They had an exercise room, an indoor swimming pool, a library, and a game room. "

"I am choosing MorningStar Senior Living of Kirkland for myself. They just opened in February, so it's brand new. It was clean, very warm, and welcoming. I was impressed with it because they have been very, very thorough, even though we went there like three times to show my kids the place. I am confident that I will go somewhere where I know I have security and can interact with other people. The facility is in partnership with different medical groups, so I know I would get help immediately if I need it. They also have a nurse that comes. If I am sick, they will not let me go down to the dining room and expose myself to people. They will bring my meals to me. All of those things are very important to me."

"I thought Gencare was inviting. They had a little garden, and I thought that it could have been a little more accessible. They had a decent dining room. I liked that it felt like everything was on one floor, although it wasn't. I felt like it was somewhat like a home. The staff was very friendly and easy to get a hold of. When I wanted to see a different type of room than they had available, the manager asked a resident if it was okay if we looked at her room, and she just gave this glowing review of the place and the staff there. It made you feel more open to it because someone who lived there was so excited about living there. They said they offered trips out into the world. However, I thought they needed more activities to bring life to the place. "

"Ascent Adult Family Home LLC was clean. They had a locked closet that you had to have a code to get into for the medications. The lady showed me around and she was just very nice and friendly. They were going to be getting the room ready (it wasn't ready yet) for my sister. They have to do an assessment first, so she would work with me on my sister. It's a home. From the second floor, getting to the yard in the back would be difficult for the people, but they've got a deck in the summer where people can go out onto and they have two of them. One had raised beds around the whole perimeter so that people could do gardening in it. It was comfortable-looking and it just seemed very nice. The lady I met was the owner. She lived downstairs. She was very personable and caring. They just didn't have a lot of parking, because it's in a neighborhood. So, their parking was not very good to go and visit."

"I would highly recommend MorningStar of Silver Lake. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and explained things well. The restaurant and the food menu looked very appetizing. The layout of the apartments was great, and the space was good. They have a library, a theater, movies, bingo, and a community garden."

"Since the staff has been at Peters Creek for a long time, you could tell that it is a very stable and good place. They are very nice people, and they're very stable. Because of this, I know that thes residents are getting good care. I worked in Human Resources for years, so I know when people are happy where they're working. The chef was fabulous because he cooks very good. The place was very nice and very clean, but it wasn't as large as others. They did show me a 1-bedroom apartment; it was fine. They had other wing for memory and for Alzheimer's care."

"Redmond Heights was a beautiful facility in a beautiful location. They had games going on. It was an interactive facility where the clients had something to say as to what they wanted to do during the day. Everything was great. I found the scenery to be beautiful and eye opening. I found it to be a nice place that an elder person would want to be. The staff was very cordial and very open to any of my questions. They were almost like family there, and I really appreciated that. "

"My mom is now in Cogir of Kirkland. What I like about them is that it's a smaller community, and the layout is very simple. It's in the shape of a boomerang, so everything that's community-based is in the center. So it's easier for my mom to navigate, and everything is within her ability to get to. However, their activity person is not there, and they're in the process of hiring one. So my mom is not getting the activities that were expected. But other than that, the food is great. My mom loves the food. The staff is helpful. They have puzzles and movies, and they have things out, but there's no coordinator to do outings. With regard to value for money, I think they're right in the range of all the other places. And they have two bright ceiling lights, and none of the other places have ceiling lights in their ceiling."

"Edmonds Landing is a coastal community and it's friendly. They have adequate but small kitchens and the staff was really helpful. The people there were having lunch and that's what we saw. Their dining area is adequate, they have a chef and take some pride in it. They have a patio and courtyard but they're pretty limited in size. It's very urban, very city oriented, so it's not spacious, but comfortable."

"Empress Senior Living was a brand-new facility. It was very, very nice inside. I thought the layout was very good. It had a nice rooftop garden, a nice dining facility, and nice staff. It was also very clean. They had a very nice coffee bar and a nice library with a fireplace. It's just a tough area to get to for parking. They have street-side parking and it's in the university area, so there's a little bit of traffic to get from the freeway over to it, but the people were very friendly and very hospitable."

"Overlake Terrace was pretty good. It wasn't brand new, but it turned out that that was part of what we liked about it, that it had some history. The memory unit was all remodeled and looked quite good and quite homey. It was larger than the others we looked at. The people who helped us were very knowledgeable, especially after we got through the marketing person. We also liked the rooms, because they had their own bathrooms. We observed activities like painting and doing things together. The residents seemed quite happy."

"I toured Brookdale Monroe. First off, they were super nice. The lady was very, very helpful. Right away I realized I almost didn't know all the questions to ask even though I had a notebook with about 10 questions written down. It was an older design. It was a single-story unit located in a neighborhood that's a regular neighborhood. If you're just walking you probably would think it is just a couple of houses together. They didn't have memory care and I was looking for independent care. They had a nice little walking area on the property. The room design, the 1-bedroom was kind, I'll just call it funky, but I thought "this isn't a real 1-bedroom." It's kind of a studio with a wall and it just a funny design. Now, having said that, after seeing many more, I realized that even though it's an apartment, they're not at all the standard 1-bedroom design that I would think if I was renting it for a family. So, the design wasn't my favorite. They were nice and willing to work with us. They had a little garden patio area which was nice, too."

"My mother stayed at Pacific Regent last year for rehab. I didn't get the feeling that it was as clean as it could be, but it was a good facility. The rooms were about average, and the staff seemed knowledgeable. I didn't think she participated in any of the activities, but she did make some friends, and they spent a lot of time talking to her. I think the facility itself was nice. They also have a little garden that they can take the patients, and it has a central area that feels comfortable where the patients can gather. "
