"I went to tour Peters Creek Retirement, Assisted Living & Memory Care. The receptionist was very friendly and very encouraging. The gentleman was open to answering any questions and said, "Let me take you on a tour." He showed me where the craft room was. They played games there. They had paid attention to the things I said my sister was interested in when I spoke with the other gentleman on the phone a few days earlier. She likes adult coloring, puzzles, and playing games, and so the staff showed me all those. He told me about the library, and he took me upstairs and showed me a room. There were two rooms, and it had a mini kitchen and eating area between the two. My sister would have had no roommate, and she would have has a bathroom that is not across the building like she has where she is now. I asked if they were set up for a TV already, and the staff said yes. I asked if they were set up for a computer, and he also said yes. The room I looked at had a mini balcony, but you couldn't open a window or a door to get out of there. It was for the view, and the view was lovely. It's completely wooded with a creek in the back. What I saw at Peters Creek Retirement was great. They have a paved walkway all the way around outside. They have an elevator for my sister to get to the room, which is good because she has a knee issue. They have a patio outside. Everything I saw was neat and clean, and flyers were available for you to help yourselves with."

"We are so grateful for Cogir Kirkland! My mom has lived there for 3 months, and it's such a relief to know she is safe and well cared for. The community is only a year old--it's beautiful, light, and well-maintained, plus the rooms are very large. And surprisingly, the food is great! But the very best part is the staff! They are very skilled and professional, while also being super kind and caring. My mom is at the end of life, and can be "difficult" on top of it. Each staff member works extra hard to ensure she is heard; that she has everything she needs; and that she is comfortable and happy. Cogir Kirkland has a new General Manager that has been successful in implementing new systems and processes, and in building a strong and committed team. We are so happy to have them as part of our family!"

"My experience with this nursing home has been nothing but positive. Upon my first visit the staff was so welcoming and understanding of our situation. They took all measures possible to make sure our loved one would feel comfortable and homey at the facility. The staff all went above and beyond what I expected them to in helping my elderly friend adjust to the stay, even providing her with her favorite special cooked meals and ice cream for dessert. They even took her down to the salon to get her hair and nails done, and to introduce her to all the other residents and staff persons. I am so glad we have found a place for her to stay that will both give us a piece of mind, and give her a place that will feel as close to home as possible while still providing her with the care and attention she needs. "

"I had an in-person tour of Laurel Cove Community. It was really, really friendly. Everybody seemed to know people's names, and they chatted with each other. I liked how in the memory care, the doors open out into a hallway, and that you can't get lost getting to the activities room and eating area. I saw their activities calendar, and I actually saw one of the activities. The people were sitting around and laughing. The woman doing the tour asked them what they were doing, and they said they were talking about their childhood. Everybody was so engaged. I liked the courtyard. The rooms are big. The staff was friendly and nice. They knew the people who lived there. It was a homier feeling. The facility wasn't quite as fancy, but it's very clean and updated."

"My experience with Mountlake was very good. They're the one that we would consider because it's within five miles of us. The rooms were adequately sized. However, mom would prefer a washer and dryer in her own unit. The staff was good. "

"It has been great. My mom said the food is OK. I’ve eaten there a couple of times, and it is not like a five-star restaurant, but it is pretty good. The dining area is more like a restaurant open all day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and you just go in and order. They have specials, but if you don’t like what they’re having, they will make you a hamburger or a sandwich. They always have a fruit bar at breakfast and salad bar at lunch and a private dining room that you can reserve. We had a dinner party there for my dad’s birthday. There is a lot of flexibility. The common areas remind me of being in a hotel's lovely living room area. They have a media room that they use for church service or you can reserve it for a party. It feels homey but it is not small. It is bigger but doesn’t feel sterile at all to me. It has been great. Everybody has been super nice taking care of my mom and looking out for her because she has to be there for six weeks without my dad and her children. They watch out for her. She can have all her meals brought to her in her room, and they’re more than happy to do that. It is really nice. "

"Oak Park Retirement was very nice. The lady who gave me the tour was excellent. However, it appears to be 99% assisted living even though it advertised as independent living. The apartments were nice, and they were larger than some other places, with nice window space. Everything about it was really comfortable-looking all the way around except that there were very few independent living people there. Lunch was acceptable."

"My visit at Aegis of Lynnwood was pretty good; I was satisfied with it. The people that I met, I got good answers from, and I felt okay about that. The rooms were roomy and comfortable looking. There was a little get-together, and I also stepped into the movie theater while they were watching a movie. The woman that I talked to spent a lot of time with me, answering my questions and giving me a lot of information, so that was also very important. "

"The staff here are very caring and do their best to make us comfortable. Besides taking my luggage off the shelf for me, the maintenance man helped set up my new computer and moved the wall unit to plug in my new TV. "

"Mom just moved to Empress Senior Living at Laurelhurst Assisted Living and Memory Care. It's a facility that was just built a few years ago, and their staff is wonderful. I spent many, many days there with my mom. They are very professional and good. The food was very good, too. In memory care, there are a lot of people who are not very high-functioning, so they don't do a whole lot of activities, but the value for the money is pretty good. It costs $6,600 a month to be in that facility, and then there are additional costs on top of that, but I think for what I looked at all over, their cost was about the same as others. I was so lucky to find that place. They had space available, and they were able to get me in. It wasn't out of reach cost for me."

"What I liked about Scriber Gardens is that the facility is well-kept even though it is not a newer facility. They said it used to be a nursing home years ago and they just completely remodeled it. The rooms are very large (I think because it is an older building). They have a good layout. The grounds are nice. There are nice walking paths and places to go outside so you don't have to stay inside all the time. They also have a great activity center. I've been in some nursing homes for other people and the people that are working in some of these nursing homes are not enthused, but the people at Scriber Gardens seem to be genuinely more caring. They have good staff and there are not too many people. On top of the independent living, I liked that they have a memory care wing, too, that's got all the safeguards in place so no residents can wander off."

"The Sunrise of Redmond assisted living was in the process of being completely remodeled when we visited it. That part would not open until August so there were many areas that we were not able to see. One thing that stood out to my dad is that he's wheelchair-bound and the hallways were kind of narrow and there were typical doorways. It's hard to navigate with the wheelchair around and in and out of the doorways and hallways. They have residents but we couldn't see that part. We saw several rooms and they were beautiful."

"My brother was in Cogir of Edmonds Assisted Living & Memory Care. My brother liked it, and that was the one major criteria. They offer a basic level of care and for the time frame that we needed to have him there. We asked them to do regular blood pressure and blood sugar measures, which they did, but they did them at random times instead of fasting blood sugar, which is what we needed. They were supposed to observe him taking his meds, but they administered them to him because he couldn't do that by himself. The staff was helpful. They allowed my brother to do the things he wanted to do and didn't pressure him to do things they didn't want to do. The staff members were very attentive. He liked the meals and felt that it was adequate. He was not interested in group activities, but after being there for a while, he got to enjoy those and participate in them. So I think that was a very good asset for him. The facilities were excellent. They were clean and well maintained. I was astonished and disappointed with the cost. I thought it was overpriced."
