If you are looking for the very best residence for your senior years, book a tour of Ida Culver House Broadview. There are so many reasons: The apartments are always newly painted and white glove clean, meals are chef planned and prepared and wait staff is always courteous, activities are resident appropriate, varied, and interesting, the entire staff is well-trained, friendly, and ready to meet your needs. Building amenities include pool, exercise room with equipment, library as well as kiosks will "free to take and return books" on each skybridge, and plenty of places to walk, especially the beautifully maintained grounds with plenty of flowers and colors that change with the season. Ida Culver House Broadview (ICHB) is a warm, attractive lifestyle. Come to see for yourself.

Living areas are roomier than expected. Kitchen area, though small, features modern appliances. A laundry closet with washer and dryer serves ample needs. Carpeting enables barefoot comfort. The building housing the apartments provides easy access to library and dining needs. Exterior landscaping provides wide flowery and treed areas for outdoor seating. Three-meal dining exceeds expectations of variety, quality and service. Staffing emphasizes superior care and safety, while providing a wide variety of educational and entertainment opportunities.

The food is good. the servers competent and friendly. The life enrichment program is exceptional. My main problem with Ida Culver Broadview is that there are more things that I want to do than I have time to do them in. There are live concerts, fascinating lectures on music, art, and history, – discussion groups, art classes, an in-house choir with a professional conductor, sing-alongs. There is an in-house orchestra of residents which gives a “jam” twice a month. My fellow residents are interesting and friendly, and the entire staff is friendly, understanding, and competent. I feel lucky to have ended up in such a place.

We enjoy the independence and flexibility of living in one of the cottages. Having a single car garage for my workbench and tools and bikes made the transition from our house of 30 years to a retirement community much easier. We have enjoyed getting to know many of the other residents and making new friends.

Generous, clean, well-maintained living facilities. Maintenance staff are quick to respond and very professional. Front desk and all other personnel are always friendly and willing to help. The library is a huge asset. Open 24/7, with large selection of books, magazines, & newspapers. Bright reading space with new furniture. Dining room is bright and welcoming, with clean table cloths & flowers; wait staff treat seniors with respect and good cheer; menu rotates with interesting choices; food is better than in many expensive restaurants. Eight separate cottages offer truly independent living in separate units with 2BR+DR, study & private patio.

Very nicely appointed! Clean and safe and comfortable. New carpeting! Fresh paint, new cabinetry and appliances. It’s very quiet. I never hear any of my neighbors. The wait list program was so wonderful. We had many opportunities to visit over this past year prior to our move in so we were quite comfortable with Ida Culver when we arrived. WE had attended many special events, like the holiday affair and art shows. We loved it and could not wait to make the move. Staff has been amazing in assisting. Warm and welcoming and so helpful. And the same with our resident guide ( a member of the community assigned to help us “learn” Ida Culver) So wonderful and helpful. We feel we have so much guidance. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. One last thing. The meals that are prepared are outstanding. And there is always the opportunity to sit with other residents or if you want by yourself. Your choice. No pressure. It has been a great experience every night. We love it here!

Provider Response

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear that the waitlist program and special events made you feel comfortable before your move, and that you're enjoying your new home. Let us know if you ever need anything.

Rooms are adequate in size. Good heating but inefficient air conditioning, so rooms are usually too warm. Some internal noise due to electrical facilities and machinery. Noise from outside is sometimes unpleasant. Cleaning and bedding change is done once a week. The food is good to excellent. The staff is almost uniformly friendly and helpful.

The rooms are bright, airy, cheery and spacious! Kitchens have all you need to cook or reheat your meals. Our family has enjoyed many meals in the dining room and I can't say enough about how wonderful the chef here is! All staff members put residents and their families first. Communication with staff members has always been easy and positive. Even though my mother in law has passed away, I continue to visit with current residents. Ida Culver provides a safe, inclusive, caring and mentally stimulating community environment.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your words, Sue ? your feedback means a lot to us! We're grateful for your continued connection to our community, and we're honored to have supported your mother-in-law during her time here. We look forward to your next visit.

We are just starting our sixth year at Ida Culver House Broadview. We selected ICHB after we had visited eight or ten other facilities, both monthly and buy-in communities. Needless to say, we had high expectations, and have not been disappointed. Because of unfortunate experiences at other communities by a close family member and several friends, food and nutrition were of highest concern to us. We have not been disappointed in our choice of Ida Culver. The quantity, variety and selectivity have been exceptional. Monthly meetings with the food service personnel gives us a chance to provide input to selection, presentation, and the food service in general. The staff has always been sensitive, concerned, and responsive to our input. Special recognition must be given also to the very competent staff in the Life Enrichment Group. They are diligent, and very effective, in providing us with activities that are fun, interesting, entertaining, and intellectually challenging. Institutional services, such as housekeeping or physical plant, are offered promptly and with attention to detail. Obviously, we enjoy Ida Culver House Broadview, and continue to have high expectations for our comfort, safety, and well-being. We look forward to, and expect, many more more years of outstanding service at ICHB.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful review! We are thrilled to hear that we have met your high expectations. We look forward to continuing to create a comfortable, safe home for you for many years to come.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I love living at Ida Culver Broadview and there's nothing I'm unhappy about. What do I love? 1. The care and attention to detail the administration and staff provide for the residents. 2. My fellow residents. They're uniformly warm and welcoming. They bring such interesting backgrounds and knowledge to meals, activities, and casual conversations. It's very easy to make friends, and residents reach out to welcome new ones and to care for one another. 3. The food. There are multiple options at all three meals, including the fish of the day and the entre salad of day. (I can't believe how many times a week I could eat salmon.) And the cookie, ice cream, and desert specials of the day are superb. I may actually love the food too much. Beware of the "freshman ten." 4. The activities. There are many interesting activities, but if you have a new one that interests you (for me it was a nonfiction book club), the Life Enrichment staff does what they can to help you get it started. Three of the activities I most enjoy are Team Trivia, chauffeured outings in the Ida Culer bus to a local theater to view live recordings of Met Operas, and, of course, the nonfiction book club. 5. My light and airy apartment. It's just the right size. For those times when I just want to veg out and be on my own, it's a comfortable place to be. And the kitchen staff will pack up my chosen take-out meal for me. 6. Did I mention the food?

Provider Response

HappyFella, we're happy when you're happy! It's great to know that you've formed such meaningful connections and that our teams are hitting the mark. We look forward to continuing to enhance your experience here at Ida Culver House Broadview.

I visited this facility

I went to Ida Culver House Broadview looking for a senior facility for my husband. They were very friendly when you walked in. The place was beautiful. The people were friendly. Even the residents were friendly. The dining area was gorgeous. And I can attest to the food because I've eaten there before. It is delicious. They seem to have a lot of activities for the residents. Activities were going on when we were there, and people looked involved in them. It was nice.

Provider Response

Thank you very much for your review, Geralden! From your kind words, it certainly sounds as though you were able to get a feel for what life is like for our residents here at Ida Culver House Broadview. We're always here should anymore questions arise, and we hope that you are soon able to find your family's best senior living solution.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father was in memory care at Ida Culver Broadview in the Terrace. He was treated with respect and kindness. He was cared for and attended to for his needs. He was treated with dignity and with compassion. If we, his family, had questions or concerns, they were addressed and responded to. My dad was encouraged to participate in all the activities and given space when he needed it. He was appreciated for his singing and his humor. The staff could see him as a person of kindness and thoughtfulness beyond the illness. He was respected for his long life, his WW II military service, his life's work, and his generous spirit. When he passed, the staff hugged us, told us about their love for him, and comforted us. Some of them came and stood by him in his final hours with tears and loving messages for him and for us. The Terrace was the perfect place for our dad to be in his final years, and I am grateful.

Provider Response

Leslie, thank you for your heartfelt words. We are all grateful for your trust and for the opportunity to share in such a proud, loving life.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have moved into Ida Culver House Broadview. One of the reasons I chose them is that it was closest to my daughter and her family. It has the apartment configuration that was most pleasing to me, even though it's a small one. It has an aerial view because it's on the fourth floor and a partial view of the Olympic mountains. It's one of the larger ones, it’s eight acres and in a more residential area. They have a swimming pool, and the food is excellent. Ida Culver was a teacher, and so it has several teachers, and I was a retired teacher also. The apartment is unusual there. There are only six of these floor plans. It faces north and has an aerial view of the trees, and the living room also has a big picture window and then a side window that faces the water and the Olympic mountains. In the bedroom, you have a big picture window there, side by side the window that faces east; you can see when the sun comes up one of the Cascade Mountains along with trees. It has a front French door that opens onto a small patio and the patio faces north to the area view and west to the mountain, Puget Sound view. It has a bathroom with a window that faces the north area, and it has a complete small kitchen. The bedroom has a full mirrored closet, and the entrance has a closet, then there's a closet for the washer and dryer. There’s an up and down washer and dryer. The apartment is 541 ft².

Provider Response

Thank you for providing such a beautiful description of your new home, Vicky. We understand the importance of creating a welcoming environment for our residents and we're so pleased to know that our efforts have contributed to your quality of life. We're here for you.

My wife and I have been living in another South Sound retirement community for nine years. I'm seeking memory care in Seattle for my 80 year -old sibling. We have been very pleased working with Ida Culver Broadview and the staff there. This organization is superior organizationally, in facilities quality, employee knowledge and skill, as well as candidness and transparency in communicating information needed by prospective residents and family. Many other senior care organizations are still TRYING to develop the solid organizational footing and service culture that Ida Culver already has and provides.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time today to leave your impressions of Ida Culver House Broadview. Your experience and informed opinions are invaluable to us. We do hope that your family enjoys good health in the future, and please let us know how we may be of further help.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents moved to ICB from the Midwest 7 years ago to be closer to family. As hard as it was to leave their former home, ICB soon became their home in every sense. They went to fabulous lectures, music performances, social gatherings, field trips, etc. and incorporated themselves into the warm and welcoming community. A little less than 2 years ago, we moved my mom to The Terrace, which is the memory care part of the building. It was a challenging transition for the whole family, but we got support and were shown such kindness from the IC staff. The Terrace staff are some of the loveliest, kindest, and most compassionate people. They have laughed with us, advised us, and genuinely cried with us when we experienced losses this year. They held my mom’s hand and gently encouraged her when she needed it. All the while, my dad has found strength from his IC community. The staff and many of the residents are right there when times get tough and also when one just wants to hear a good joke. The facility is great! Lovely library, activity spaces, gym, pool, etc. In summary, I would highly recommend taking a look at ICB. It has been, and continues to be a godsend for our family.

Provider Response

Thank you, bez, for describing your family's experiences. We're so happy to have earned your review and to know that our community has provided comfort and peace of mind during stressful times this year.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother moved into the Terrace about six weeks ago, after having a couple of falls and a hospital/rehab stay when living on her own. Her room looks out onto some lovely trees, and is quite pleasant. The staff have been amazing -- very warm and caring. My mom seems to be much less lonely than she was living in the other part of the ICHB campus, which I think is largely due to her more frequent interactions with the staff, and she's already made a friend or two. I am not sure to what degree she participates in the community activities, as she is still just getting settled in, but almost every time I drop by there's something going on in the central living area. I know she's enjoyed the periodic outings, and hoping she'll be able to take advantage of the other activities as she starts to feel more at home. I feel this was a very good move for her, given the decline in her memory and cognition. It has also made my life easier, knowing she's in good hands and having the extra assistance in managing her healthcare needs.

Provider Response

Thank you so much, Susan! The progression to memory care can present unique challenges. We're always glad to hear of successful transitions and wish your family continued peace of mind. We're here for you at any time.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is 95 and had been living independently. For a few years, she and I had been discussing her next step as her needs and desires changed. When she told me on Mother's Day that she was ready to look at places, Ida Culver House Broadview was the top destination on our list. The buildings, grounds and views are absolutely beautiful. The property is very well maintained and the care is evident. The staff is amazing - warm, friendly, caring, and truly focused on finding a good fit for everyone! They took time to answer all the questions we had during our initial tour and were quick to respond to follow-up emails and our request to have a second tour to increase Mom's comfort level with a big move. The staff has been extremely kind in introducing Mom to other residents and making her feel valued and included. The nurses have gone above and beyond in ensuring Mom understands what is available and has the care she needs and wants. The bottom line is the staff truly cares about the residents and their families and treat them with respect, dignity and friendship. The meals are fantastic with varied menus daily and their two dining rooms allow the residents to enjoy the incredible views of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound so that every meal is more than just a meal. They are social events and a chance to meet and engage with other residents. They have so many activities for the residents and families to enjoy. One of our favorites was the art gala featuring works by several different residents. Participation in the activities is encouraged and, at the same time, privacy is truly respected. Mom is absolutely loving living at Ida Culver House Broadview! I have not seen her so thoroughly happy in years!

Provider Response

Ed, it's wonderful to hear when families arrive at such a rewarding decision, especially when Mother's Day (one of our favorite holidays!) is involved. Thank you. We're available, of course, for anything that comes up in the future.

From the moment I visited Ida Culver, Broadview I could see myself living there. I was initially attracted by the property — 8 acres, beautiful gardens, lots of open air spaces. Every apartment has its own private outdoor space, a patio or lanai. Many public areas, such as the dining room have views of the mountains and the sound. Once I moved into Ida Culver Broadview, my expectations have been exceeded. The physical amenities, such as a saltwater pool, a lovely library, gym, game room, etc. offer space to meet the needs of diverse residents. Special programs, (lectures, musical performances, theater, outings/trips) are offered regularly with professional presenters. There are regular exercise classes in person, or on the in-house television channel which has programs throughout the day and evening. The staff sets the tone of friendliness, caring and welcome, and I feel that among the residents as well. You can be as social or as private as you wish. The apartments have variety of layouts and are totally self-contained for a residents’ needs including personal laundry. Friends have commented on the high quality of the facilities in the apartment, and in the public areas. The food, variety and quality, is excellent. The staff is attentive to individual needs, and your requests are responded to promptly. I am amazed how quickly Ida Culver Broadview has felt like home!

Provider Response

Pat, thank you for sharing your perspective with us. We're delighted to hear that Ida Culver House Broadview has so effectively provided a happy home! We're here to be of continued assistance whenever you need us.

After being on a waiting list for another retirement community and realizing that as we got closer to the time when we were ready 'to make the big move' we were not feeling as excited as we should be about our choice, we decided to reconsider where we wanted to spend our final years. We revisited a place or two we had toured earlier and then visited Ida Culver House Broadview. It immediately felt like home. It is a physically beautiful place with good amenities that is full of life. We were made welcome by other residents and staff and witnessed an abundance of activities instead of the silent halls and quiet residents we had seen in other facilities. We were able to rent a comfortable apartment with housekeeping, maintenance, chef quality meals, and wellness assistance at a competitive price. More than that we found a lively community of interesting and interested new friends who enjoy an astounding array of activities supporting physical, intellectual, and pleasure interests. Everything from Shakespeare to Current Events, water exercise to Trivia nights, Community Sings to Jazz to Folk to Classical to Opera performances in house and available as field trips. We couldn't be happier with our choice and are glad that we followed our urge to check out one more place before making our finale important decision.

Provider Response

How fortunate that you took your time in finding the right retirement community. Thank you! We're heartened to know that our offerings have succeeded in making for a happy home. Of course if there's anything additional you need, please let us know.

I have lived at Ida Culver Broadview for one year My husband and I moved into Ida Culver one year ago. We agreed that we had made an excellent choice. He and I are quite different from each other. My husband formerly was a principal, and he appreciated the efficient way that Ida Culver is run, along with enjoying how personable and caring the staff is. He has since passed on, and I am grateful that I was able to get comfortable with the facility and with other residents and the staff before he died. I absolutely love not having to cook or clean! Eliminating these chores has given me time to read and to participate in the many interesting activities. My favorites are presentations by University of Washington staff members, daily exercise, bridge, choir, and crafts. Staff members genuinely care about us. I am constantly amazed at the variety of talents they have such as dramatics, musical instruments, computer skills, vocal groups, crafts.

My wife & I were grateful for Pam & the newer woman showing us around yesterday. They answered all our questions with helpfulness & humor. They understood when I needed to sit down while my wife took the rest of the tour. Our financial questions were fully responded to & thoroughly explained. My wife & I were pleased to know the differences of different types of elder care centers. For us the cottages were spacious while the floor plan of the 2 bedrooms unit on Greenwood Ave was sub par. This morning we realized we didn’t see the assisted living center - nor did we ask to see it. I wanted to eat & find out how the food was & couldn’t as I didn’t have a reservation. This is a very important aspect of anyone staying at a place. If you could manage it, Pam or your Community Liaison person having the option of taking someone for a meal spontaneously after a tour would be very helpful.

Provider Response

Thanks so much for your visit with our Community Relations team, and for taking the time to leave us your review. We're happy to pass your thoughts along, and we do hope that you'll be able to enjoy some of our fantastic food with us soon. Take care!

What a welcome! Mom’s first day as a resident began with a cheery ´Welcome Home’ from the lovely folks at reception - Paolo and Cheri. Soon after, Gerson met us at the cottage with a warm welcome and helped with move-in details. As we explored the facilities and gorgeous grounds, staff and residents took time to ´show us the ropes’ and chat. A fabulous first day !

Provider Response

Julep, we thank you for taking the time to leave this heartwarming review. It sounds like your Mom enjoyed her first day in her new home! We're so pleased that it made for special memories of the day, and we're always here for further questions.

The parking is a nightmare. I was bringing groceries to my aunt and I had to park a few blocks away away, that’s a long way to walk with a couple bags of groceries or more. Rooms are great the staff is very friendly and the place is very clean

Provider Response

Rene, we are sorry to hear that you came at a busy time and had trouble with parking. In the future, feel free to pull up front and drop the groceries with the front desk before trying to park. They can also let you know how to park in Culver Lane inside of our gates. We do hope to see you again soon!

Our family has such deep gratitude and respect for all who cared for our mom and truly considered her a family member and she felt the same towards them. The degree of loving care and professionalism at Ida Culver while she was in independent living thru memory care in the Terrace was unparalleled. She felt at home. She was loved. She was safe. We wish we could adequately express our appreciation for all involved. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Provider Response

Thank you so much, Trudi, for sharing your sentiments with us. We were honored to provide a loving home for your mom, and your words convey what it meant to your family. The members of our staff are touched by your kindness.

My father moved into Ida Culver House Broadview. Everything was great as far as the physical appearance of the community. One thing that was really important to my dad was the idea of being able to go to someplace where he'd be able to do his things independently. It is extremely important to us, so that was a big part of our decision. They've got a bit of a waiting list, so that's kind of a disadvantage. They have smaller studios, which was what my dad got initially. They have three types of one-bedroom units that seem to be a little larger than the one-bedroom units we saw at some other places, and then they've got a two-bedroom unit. My dad has his own outdoor patio, so he can sit outside, which was very nice. They go to the symphony, and they all do walking groups. They have a very small fitness area and a small pool. The people that I interacted with were very nice. The staff was very honest and forthright. The upkeep and cleanliness were very good. It's not the newest building, so things are a little bit worn out compared to some other places, but it was clean. What they offer is not cheap, but I think it's probably on par with other areas.

Provider Response

Michael, thank you for providing this meaningful feedback. We're so happy that you've found such a fitting home for your father and his lifestyle! We're here for any further issues at any time.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father moved into Ida Culver House Broadview a month ago. He is in a memory care unit there called The Terrace. It's a specialized area, not the general community. It's a memory care section. He is peaceful there and sleeping well. The people there are very kind and very attentive. They have a lot of activities. They also are very respectful of his choices. They're very trained in attending to people with dementia. His room is a studio. They have several sizes, and he got a medium-sized room. It has a lovely view of the mountains and trees. It's comfortable. It's not as big as the one-bedroom apartment he had been in, but it seems to work well because he doesn't have a kitchen there. He has a bathroom. His room includes his living room, bedroom, recliner, and table. There is a dining room for meals and a nice long hallway where he can take good walks if he wishes. The place is nice. It's very clean and has a nice spacious, eerie feeling to it. In terms of cleaning his apartment, you can opt for how much cleaning you want. The basic one going in is once a week that somebody will come and clean. But you can pay for somebody to clean it more often if you want. The dining room is very pleasant. It has a lovely view out to beautiful trees and toward the mountains. It has some very nice light, especially in the afternoon and evening. The food seems to be adequate. They have an exercise and game time. They take people out for a tour almost once a week, if they want. They have occasional concerts and discussion clubs for the news. They show occasional films. The staff members are very warm, very attentive, and very trained. They care very much for the people who live there. If something is broken or not working, it's fixed very quickly. I think it's a good value.

Provider Response

Thank you, Marcia, for the positive review! We are so glad you and your father continue to have a positive experience at our memory care community .

My mother was at Ida Culver House Broadview. She was there for a year. There were more pluses than minuses. They had great, great cuisine. The food was absolutely fantastic. It was actually very, very well with meal planning and just very nice dining. It's a very nice place. The pluses are food and the friendliness. All of that was just great. I would recommend it to anybody, but my mom has dementia. The place was very confusing. You have to go up one elevator, down another elevator to get to another floor. That's not good for somebody that has dementia, even mild dementia. They said that she was always getting lost. It was confusing for me, and I don't have dementia. The way it was configured was just very confusing. There were too many walkways and too many elevators to get to one place. They had a salon and a nice swimming pool. The activities were great, but my mother just wouldn't do them. I can't think of anything that they were lacking. I can't see anything that they could improve upon. The location is not very great. It's on a very busy street. When you have dementia, you have to keep them in a quiet environment. It's very noisy. It is one of the busiest streets in Seattle. There is a constant road traffic and a lot of noise. Pollution was just horrible. I'd walk into my mom's place, and I could smell the fumes from the cars and stuff in her living quarters. It was just not good. Not that it was their fault; there's nothing they could do, but I just had to get my mom away from that.

Provider Response

Thank you for your review and your recommendations regarding our cuisine and our friendliness, Chris. We're sorry to hear of your experiences; we do our best to provide for a calming environment, while at the same time enjoying the perks of our expansive big-city location. We wish the best for your family.

Ida Culver House Broadview was nice on the outside, but they wouldn't have been able to provide enough services that my father needed. The staff was very professional. The rooms were very nice, but some were small. They showed me the dining room, but everything was closed down. They were just all in their rooms, so nothing was really running. In other times, it would be a good community, but it's a community now where everybody is just locked up in their rooms.

My mom lives at Ida Culver House Broadview, and I've been impressed with it. The environment is well appointed, comfortable, and they have good staffing. It's a nice experience. They have a ton of activities. They've got a dining room, a library, an activity center, a pool, exercise classes, field trips, and social events. They have one dining room that they do three meals a day, and they have table service.

This institution has just raised its rent another 5%, after having raised its rent 5% a year ago, for a cumulative 10%+, during which time the Cost of Living Index has risen 2.5%. Most of the residents, needless to say, are old/infirm and reluctant to move. During this period, the quality of the food, not much to begin with, has declined another 10%.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us. We strive to maintain a balance between providing high-quality services and managing operational costs, given the realities of the economy in our region. We wish you and your family all the best.

Ida Culver House is where my mom is, and it is working out great. She has a nice 1-bedroom with a view. It could be fancier, but it is nice; it’s got a view and a little deck. The staff is wonderful. They are great, nice people. She says the food is great. They have a pool and a library.

Ida Culver House was a good, large facility with the most care options on-site, which was definitely a plus. I was concerned about mom navigating the halls and the building. They seemed fairly limited on menu selections, and I was concerned about variety. However, the eating hours were good, and the food was made to order. The rooms were OK, though on the smaller size, and not quite as up to date as some other places. However, it was still fresh and clean. They had a washer and dryer in every unit. They were definitely more expensive.

My mother lived at Ida Culver for 7 years. She was unhappy to go in but quickly came to feel at home and enjoyed her stay there. ICHB really deserves close to 5 stars. There were small things that didn't work but basically the place was well organized and has the intent for residents to have a happy life. It is a cheerful place with a well thought out environment. This makes for a community of residents who are positively oriented. The food is good and sometimes really good. Great coffee which is important! My mother left a few months ago; it's easy for me to see now how the stability and happiness she had there was underlined by thoughtful planning and care.

We went to Ida Culver, but it’s too far away from us. There aren’t any stores, so if you don’t have a car, you would be waiting around. Their local bus is really handy and very nice, too. They have private apartments, like little houses, that have a nice view over the lake.

I am currently at Ida Culver House. What I like about it is that my apartment is wonderful. What I don’t like about it is the accessibility because I think the gates are too heavy. It makes it very difficult with a wheelchair. They don’t have electronic openings on most of the doors. They also do not offer free cooking which is very difficult for me. I love my apartments, the people, and the staff, but I don’t like the place.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We value your input on accessibility and cooking, and are continually working to enhance the experiences of our residents. We wish you and your family all the best.

I liked the Ida Culver House; it just wasn't a good match for my mother. I enjoyed the place. My mother just decided that the eating area was too formal for her, so she doesn't want to go with them. It was very nice, very resort-oriented, very clean, and very calm. It's just not what she wants.

We went for the trial meal, and she asked if she could have it blended because she has trouble eating, and there was a kind of an attitude about that like, "We can't do that." That was one thing, and the colors were very depressing. It was dark -- maroons, olive greens, oranges, and things like that -- a lot of patterns and stuff, and the hallways were dark. They were a convenient location, the price was cheaper, and the lady that took us around was very cordial, but it didn't seem like there was a whole lot of activity or people who seem to be busy or doing anything. It was very quiet, and it seems like people were by themselves. They particularly shown us this library, and the library was very cold. It was set up beautifully with a lot of books and stuff, but it was cold. It was on a bus line and near the stores, so that was the nice thing about Ida Culver House, and it is close to where my friend used to live.

Ida Culver House Broadview is a great nursing home. I visit my aunt who lives here. Its located in a very nice neighborhood that has convienent access to shops, restaurants, and parks. My aunt says that she loves the meals that are served here. She likes it how there is weekly housekeeping, so she could spend more time enjoying life. I like this nursing center because of its clean, relaxed atmosphere. Most importantly, there is a health care center, so my aunt does not need to leave the nursing home each time she needs to see a doctor. Mt aunt says that she really enjoys the facilities like the salon and library. She often goes to the activites of the nursing home like trips to the art museum and the symphony. The people there are great, they are very passionate about their clients. I think that Ida Culver is a wonderful nursing home, and I recomend it to my family.

They are incredibly insensitive to seniors. They were very rude and demeaning to my dad. Moved him out as soon as possible. If you are perfect and well heeled you will fit in, otherwise find a kinder place for your loved one.
