"I went to the Reserve at Seatac. I think it was good, except for certain facilities that were limited; the computer room wasn't even open. It was clean, the person touring us was very professional, great customer service, and helpful. The apartments were excellent, really nice, all modern. They had a lounge, huge fireplace in the common area, there was a recreation room, a common dining area, meeting rooms that they could reserve, they had a little theater, and that was actually a plus. It's close to a bus stop, so it's convenient."

"My wife and I are moving into Fountain Court Senior Living. The people are just awesome and they're very friendly. The price was really good, too and it was pretty much lower than any of the other ones. It's a small community and it's what we wanted. It's in Maple Valley, one of the nicest, one of the best, and one of the safest places in Washington. My mom loved the flowers there. They got a lot of activities and I like the location. I was with my brother and my mom when I visited. They offer all three meals. They worked with me on my dogs, and worked with us on the first month's rent, and let us have time in August. I got a retired guide dog that they didn't charge me for. So, they did a lot of things for me. I met Sarah and I met the nurse. The nurse and Sarah came out to our house. I think they got a special going on where they move you for nothing. She's come to our house a couple of times so they're very, very willing to work with you and try to do their best to do what they can. I appreciated that. The facility itself has a library. It has a salon. There's a green belt and there are trees. Little squirrels come down and some of the residents, I guess, throw peanuts out and stuff on the trees. They have all kinds of things going on and sometimes they'll have live bands out there. The main thing is just the hospitality, and just how clean the place is. Being blind and not being able to go back and forth, Sarah came over to my house. It's been a good experience, and when we are in, we're hoping to still keep on with the good work experience."

"We went to Village Concepts of Fairwood. It was very nice. Beautiful grounds. Beautiful building. They have lots of staff and friendly people. The apartments were very nice and very beautiful. The staff who helped me with the tour was great. She was very nice and very helpful. She answered questions and pointed everything out for us. The dining area was very nice. They had lots of options, and they had a couple of different places to eat. They had lots of activities, a game room, an art room, a beauty salon that was nice and a library."

"I visited Solstice Senior Living at Normandy. They have a unique offer which they call, "three thousand reasons to move," which is a $3,000 grant to be used anyway you need. It cleared almost all of the startup fees they have, and they pick up all the utilities and heat, which in Washington was a considerable package. So, we signed up with them, and we will be moving on June 30. Their food is all provided, very good, and high quality. We got a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment. They have a community room and only a microwave in the unit, but they have a full-size refrigerator. They have an exercise facility and a small gym, and we're only 15 minutes away from our PCP, which is a plus for us. The residents are quite happy to be there, and I think we'll be happy there. They don't seem to have a pool for walker exercise. They have bus facilities to take you to any store or shopping center."

"We liked Willow Gardens. It was clean. The people were friendly. The place wasn't new but we liked it. The person who helped us was good. The dining area didn't look amazing, but it was OK. We saw the calendar of activities. My mom liked the idea of some of the activities like outings to the casino and to the nursery."

"This facility was beautiful! The atrium reminds me of a cruise ship and the movie theatre iwas big and the chairs comfy. The staff was so nice! We met the assistant mangers when we first arrived and they went out of their way to answer our questions and listen to our concerns. We liked the fact it was a pet friendly community but when you walk around you don't see pet hair or any signs of animals. The managers assured us that pets are not allowed to run free in the building and the pet owners have to follow certain rules. We liked that too. The dining room and food were fabulous and we liked the fact that they had menus on the tables and several choices of food to choose from. Over all I give this place 5 stars and we will be contacting Julian Estates when my mom sells her house."

"I went to look at Life Manor Independent Living. There is no parking. The place has concrete walls, which I don't mind. But I'm 6'3 and pretty mobile, so the area is small for somebody my size. The guy who showed me around was wonderful. The first lady I talked to was very nice to me, too. When you look at other places, the score goes down more and more. I don't have anything against them, but more places are great, and the rate is high. Their efficiency apartment had a mini refrigerator. They said they could accommodate a regular-sized refrigerator, but they would have to take the mini refrigerator out, and they would use up more space. They have requirements. They wanted to see documentation before they showed me the place, which was something different, too. I told the staff I was out of town, but she insisted that I show some documentation about where I live. So I had to get them to send me documentation from Georgia to the state of Washington. No one else asked me that question."

"GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston was beautiful, but it was just a little too above the price point. The staff members are wonderful, caring people, they are. The rooms were very nice. Everybody has their private bedroom in their shared rooms, but they share the bathroom. You walk through a door and there's the bathroom off to the left, and then there's a door for one resident's room and then the next door to another door for the other resident's room. They're kind of private, but they share a bathroom, and that was nice. They have a deck because they're up on the third floor. They can also go down to the courtyard, but they have to be escorted. They were wonderful and genuinely caring. The residents seemed to be very happy there."

"My parents liked Brookdale Allenmore, and they signed the paperwork yesterday. They were one of the top three that we chose. They have an amazing mentorship, and that's part of what made my mom and dad love the place. They had two lady ambassadors. They asked if there were any questions, and then we went and saw the two options that they had available at the time. We had lunch together with their ambassadors so that mom and dad could ask any questions that they had. They were lovely ladies and very insightful. They had a lot more other residents that came up to mom and dad. We had been to other places that no one even stopped by, even at lunchtime to say hello. They seemed to be happy there. One of the ladies had been there for ten years. It became their home. One of the ladies said that she had moved out and was in another community, and she wasn't very happy there, and she had called them back. The staff took the time and came and moved her back in, which I thought was very kind and considerate. The accountant has been there for 15 years. All the staff were pretty stable and there must be a good working relationship among the people. They also had a really good move-in package for mom and dad for February. They already wanted to move there by the time we got home, so the incentive was very appeasing, and it was easier for them to make a decision right away. We were there Wednesday, and we went back on Thursday afternoon and signed the paperwork. They have their key, and it will be ready for them on Sunday. The building is older, and the windows in the apartments are a little smaller, but mom and dad chose a deck. The gentleman who showed Mom and Dad around walked out to the door and waited for me to come around with the car. He was such a gentleman. I was so impressed. They know older people, and they were just so over the top of being very kind and considerate. I had chicken potpie. I make my own homemade, and it was close to homemade. They had homemade cake, and it was delightful. It did not taste like a box. I was told they had a new chef, so it was excellent."

"They had a little party going on when we visited El Dorado. It's great and beautiful, and the staff were very helpful and super friendly. They gave us a lot of their time. The rooms were lovely. The food was good, and the dining area was beautiful; it was more like a restaurant. They go out to restaurants, stores, casinos, and church. "
