"My uncle has moved into Edens Homes. It's nice and spacious. The people are nice there. So far, there hasn't been any trouble. He has his own private room with a TV and WiFi. He is able to use the kitchen and everything. There are places that they can go to around the area. They provide dinner. The dining area has tables and chairs. It's spacious and nice. Looking on the outside, I wouldn't think it would be like that. The inside is very spacious. Because it is independent living, you can go wherever you want to go. They also provide transportation."

"The tour at Harmony at Enterprise was excellent. It was a beautiful facility, and the staff was excellent. The rooms were absolutely beautiful. The facility was brand new. There were very, very few people living there, so the place was immaculate. They had a game or activity room and a movie theater."

"I toured the Resilient Care Assisted Living and they were very friendly. The staff showed me everything, took the time to talk to me, and we talked to some of the residents there too. We walked through everything like the places that my sister is going to be eating in. She showed me the food that she's going to have too. She showed me the bathroom and everything there. They had this cleaning thing for hygiene reasons with Coronavirus. We talked about what my sister likes, like reading or playing games, and what she wants to do with her time. She explained and took note of everything while we toured. I explained to her that my sister doesn't have much memory. She asked me if she can take care of herself, like bathing and putting her clothes on and things like that. I don't know what they specialized in but I was looking for assisted living for my sister. One person was sitting next to one of the residents when I was there. There are two people playing games too. This lady who, I think, owns and manages the place gave me other information. I think it's good that they have people there to look after the residents. They offered something in a packet that had a checklist and some cookies. The facility looked very clean. Outside, the backyard was nicely mowed and everything. They had a place for the clients to sit on, like a porch."

"I toured The Waterfalls of Catonsville. It was a very good experience. The facility is beautiful. The staff who walked me through were extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. It's a historic home that has been converted. The rooms are individual with common bathrooms, and then some shared living spaces. I would give it a very high rating for someone who needs a very structured memory care facility. It's a convenient location."

Our mission is to provide our residents with the highest level of care, unique to each individual's needs. To ensure the needs of our residents we have an on-call nurse practitioner. Our staff participate in monthly training given by the nurse practitioner to ensure resident comfort and care. In addition to our janitorial staff, Open Hand's uses germicidal lamps to sterilize our facility, to combat germs. The meals at Open Hand's are made in-house to perfection, with nutrition in mind. "I was able to see The Mohawk Estate. It's a very nice place but not as nice as the other place I toured. The staff who assisted me during the tour was a very nice woman and answered all our questions. We saw their sitting area, and kitchen, and were able able to see the rooms. They also mentioned that they have activities, but we didn't see any at the time."

"My father will be moving into #1 Adoring Adult Care. I went to three different ones, but that was the one I felt most comfortable with. I actually went there twice. It was clean. The staff was friendly. She was very organized and knowledgeable of the business, and kind of gave me reassurance about her personality that my dad was going to be safe with her. The rooms were very spacious and very clean. The whole house is well kept. The owner gave me the tour and she was very kind and very patient. She was returning my calls and answering all my questions. The dining area was formal and spacious as well. There's enough room for the people in there."

"I am glad that I rented the guest room in January 2017 for 2 nights so that I could get a good idea of what the location, the facility and the people who live at the Evergreens are like. The location could not be better: directly across the street from Columbia Mall (close to the movie theatres and with a great variety of restaurants & shops), bus stops on the corner and terminal at the Mall, Whole Foods across from the Mall on the opposite end, and library nearby. The buildings are very clean, well maintained, and attractive. The grounds are pleasant, and I could see that they must be lushly green anytime but winter, with outdoor pool, barbecue cookers, and comfortable outdoor seating. My visit must have been timed right because there was a birthday party for everyone born in January, to which all Evergreens residents (& I) were welcome. There were a few games, cake and ice cream, special gifts for the birthday "babies", and a small gift for each of the rest of us. The Community Room, only a few yards from the cozy first floor guest room, is where the party was held. There is a kitchen where hot and cold beverages and popcorn are available most of the time, newspapers are provided for all to share, comfortable furnishings are arranged for conversation, there are tables and chairs for cards and other games, & a very nice area that has been used sometimes for private parties. Adjoining, is the Billiards Room where Chair Yoga is held regularly. Across the hall is a business center with 2 desktop computers, all-in-one printer, shredder, and other office conveniences. The Fitness Center, in a room down the hall has up-to-date exercise equipment, and scheduled instruction is available. A mirrored exercise room with barre is in the parking garage, and regularly scheduled classes are held there. Please contact the Leasing Office for a schedule of activities. I took every opportunity to talk with residents, and found most have been there for many years. Some had changed to smaller or larger apartments (there are many different sizes and configurations), were glad to be there, and all encouraged me to move in. Several volunteered to show me their apartments, which were much more spacious than I expected from the floor plan on the website. If you are considering the Evergreens I advise you to stay a night or 2 in the guest room, which is complete with mini-kitchenette, and is much more reasonably priced than local hotels. (The same room is conveniently available for guests of residents). The 2 nights worked out very well for me because I found the location perfect, the facility pleasing, and "natives" friendly. I was not able to sign a lease because I cannot commit until later this year, but the Evergreens looks like the right place for me. (4 stars instead of 5 because if I could make one change it would be to have a resident manager for additional security and rapid response). Aloha, Roz Cole"

"The landscaping crew was doing maintenance of the grounds when I visited Alta at Regency Crest. The parking was accessible and convenient. The facility was more modern than the other place I visited. The apartments were very nice, and the staff was professional and friendly. One of the residents came up and introduced himself. There were other residents -- mostly females -- who were engaged in a Bingo session at the time. The staff member who showed me around gave me the impression that she was really trying to get me to commit to getting a place there. They showed me studios, two-bedrooms, and one that had an extension for a balcony. The walk-in closets were very nice and spacious, and there were modern amenities in the kitchen."

"I like the whole setup at Heritage at Augsburg. Plus, they're remodeling. The dining area was really nice. They showed a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom, and both of those were nice. One was smaller than the other, of course. I like that. The laundry area and the outside were really nice. They showed us where they had little concerts and things. I like the fact that they had balconies and that you weren't confined to your living quarters; you could go out on your own balcony. It was nice that you could go to a theater-type room and watch a movie. You don't even have to have a group if you want to; you just go in and watch a movie on your own. They have a little game room. They have a monthly schedule for what they offer to the seniors and that was good. I saw their cafeteria, and I saw the menu and everything. I didn't like the fact that you have to pay for your meals. I feel like it should be included. I believe the staff said that they would give them $300-something, but over that, you would have to pay for your own meals. Thinking of my loved one who doesn't like to spend any money, I could see him just spending the little bit that he has until the next month, as opposed to if you offer them at least two meals a day, then you know for sure that they would have two meals. Another thing I didn't like is that you have to pay for your own electricity, too. I prefer things to be all-inclusive, so no one has to worry about additional bills. I met the manager in his office. He was good. I appreciated his concern for my loved one as what he wanted and what he was looking for. He called me a couple of times to check up on him and everything. He gave us a really in-depth tour. We saw an empty apartment, and we saw one that was furnished, so you can really get a good idea of how it would look. I think he was very friendly and concerned."

"I love this place!!! After my Dad passed away I saw that my mothers dementia escalated, and I knew that it was time to take the next step.I did honor my mom's request to stay in her house with aides for about a year, but I was very much aware of the social isolation that ensued. My brother and I went on a tour around the Pikesville area. It was important that the facility be somewhat nearby as I knew that we would be the kind of sons that would want to see her almost daily. I also knew that I didn't want some big institutional type setting..I had remembered that someone once told me that generally speaking any faith-based hospital or senior living facility often has a certain compassion and kindness inherent to it. When we walked out of Tudor Heights, I said to my brother"this is the place" for mom. I didn't require that it be Kosher food based, but that turned out to be a bonus. The staff knows every resident even if they don't work that residents floor. The residents all know each other, and there are no "mile long" walks to get anywhere. I also noticed in the other places I saw that often the residents were just sitting around doing nothing. The activities directors here are non-stop, always going from one thing to the next. Sometimes I can't even get a few minutes alone with Mom !!! We are in our 4th year here, and as I still say to my brother, "best decision we ever made.""
