"My Mom lives here. It is a nice community. Very welcoming, they have several activities to choose from- exercise, cards, dominoes and Bible Studies etc. The apartments are small, but seem just right for one person. No lawn care or snow removal or even light bulb changing in high ceiling areas. Secure entry on the Apt. building.Very safe neighborhood. The apt. Is Surrounded by little townhomes if you prefer a more private house like atmosphere with a garage. In short the perfect place to retire."

"My mother-in-law moved to Providence Homes Plus and we chose it for her, because of its small size. We felt that it would be a better place for her. It is a converted home, so it has a nice and homey atmosphere. She is in the memory care and they have been very good at updating us and keeping us informed. They play cards and other games with the residents. They have them do holiday craft-type activities, too."

"Topeka Presbyterian Manor is a very big facility. It has all three levels: independent, assisted, and skilled nursing, and I've been to all sections. The independent section apartments had two rooms or three rooms, but nice size, and had little patios with sliding doors. The assisted room was a little bit smaller, and my friend had a roommate there, but they both had a decent area, room for a chair, their bed, and a little kitchenette area. The nursing level was pretty good with attention to the residents, they had them all out of their rooms, and they were at a table, and some of them were playing cards or they were around the TV. The meals there were very good. That's an excellent place."

"My dad was at McCrite Plaza Topeka and the personnel, the nurses, the nurse's aide, the social worker, and the place, and everything was great. It's just very homey and the outside is beautiful. If you take them on the patio, there are flowers and there's a pond to walk around. And on the inside, they had a recliner, and it just seemed very homey. I think he liked the food. They have everything that you could ask for. They have a nice outdoor area, they have crafts, and I believe they have a bar and all that stuff available. But he didn't use it because he was in rehab. They have a lot of activities for the people. I thought his room was homey because I'd been in another rehab facility and this one had a nice recliner, a TV, a window, and a nice closet. And it was a nice size."

"We have a friend that lives in Brookside, and she just loves it. That will be a place that is apparently suitable to some people, and that's what we are looking at. She is in the independent living side. We saw the cafeteria, her room, the community room, and the chapel. They have activities like they are playing games and cards. The facility is really clean, and they are well staffed. We look at the dining area, but it is not a dining time, so we did not see the food. The rooms are very clean and very spacious for a single person. "

"I lived at Brandon Woods for a whole year in a duplex and loved it. They have a library, swimming pool, and all kinds of activities. I chose it because it was close to my home. I liked all the activities that they had and the swimming pool. I liked it that you could belong to Alvamar Country Club if you went there. They have a wonderful dining room and excellent food. I like the people and the cultural offerings. It's very expensive. They have Bible study, church services, movie every night and all kinds of outings that you can go to. If I had lots of money, I would go right back to Brandon Woods. It has everything I wanted. "

"Wyndham Place was a newer facility. It was very clean and the apartments were very nice. The staff was nice. She gave us a lot of information. She made a point to show us their main activity room and I think they did a lot of things there. They also got a good outdoor walking path and also, extra storage facilities. We saw a group of ladies during our visit and they were just laughing and telling stories. They were very friendly. My mom liked it because they seemed like really nice people. "

"My husband was only in Lawrence Presbyterian Manor for a little bit before he passed away. I would recommend them without reservation, they were wonderful. I would describe it as very clean. The layout of the building we were in was a two-story, and he was on the second floor, but that was not a problem. He was unconscious when they transferred him, but they gave him excellent care. The people who worked with him were outstanding, they were compassionate, and I have nothing bad to say about the place."

"I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience my mother had living at Arbor Court. Tracy and Susan are the most professional and caring administrators one could meet. My mother lived on her own for over 40 years and we were concerned that she might have difficulty fitting in and adjusting to the lifestyle there. Instead my mother blossomed. She began eating again, making friends and enjoying all the trips and events that were planned. The maintenance staff does a fantastic job listening to the needs of the residents and making sure that everyone is safe and adding whatever is needed to make their apartments feeling like their "new" homes. The level of daily concern and interaction among all the staff is also amazing. Residents enjoy an independent lifestyle in a facility that looks after them much better than any assisted living facility we visited. The staff tailors care to each individual resident. Again, a fabulous place that my family highly recommends! "
