Assisted Living Communities in Lawrence, KS

"Celebration Villa of Hearthstone West looked fine. I looked at the menu and I saw the activities calendar. I looked at a studio room and the cafeteria. The director was the one who gave me the tour. He'd been there seven years. He asked me a lot of questions. They had a courtyard and a library area. It's certainly a good place to go."

"I will be moving into Garden Villas of Lenexa. They're really wonderful. They're very caring, kind, and thorough. It's beautiful and they seemed to have their act together. They were more affordable than a lot of the other places. I was in a wheelchair and they took me around and showed me everything. They took a lot of time with me. They even sent their director of nurses out to my house to talk to me about my needs and what they can do to meet my needs. I've just been very impressed with them. I will have an apartment and it's very beautiful. It's very clean, and there's absolutely no odor. They must really stay on top of that. They have a lot to offer. They have a beauty salon, an indoor swimming pool, and an ice cream parlor. It's really a nice place. They provide three meals with about ten choices in each meal."

"My mother is here, and it was great. The staff is very good. The rooms are comfortable. They have different sizes, and hers is a fairly small one, but it's all she needs. "

"My mother used to be a resident at the Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. I just liked it because I trust the people. They take you on bus rides to places. I liked the staff."

"The Windsor of Lawrence was great and we liked it. The only part that I didn't like was the section where they put the folks with memory care since it was kind of depressing for me. The staff was very nice and engaging with the residents, and the place seemed to have a very homey environment. The dining area looked like a very nice restaurant."

"My parents moved into Monterey Village in Lawrence. It's really good. I'm impressed. The staff is competent and they do a good job. We've been happy with everything. There are no problems. They just moved in, so they haven't used the courtyard or the outdoor areas yet. They have activities during the day for people."

"My mother has been at Brandon Woods at Alvamar for six years now. It is beautiful. It's one of those places that has a very elegant feel to it. The decorations are impeccable, and the rooms are nice. Accommodations are just lovely. The staff really care. I don't have any issues with them. It's a wonderful place. She plays bingo, does crafts, and does exercise every day. They have fabulous food and do an excellent job. "

"The staff was kind at Pioneer Ridge. The rooms and apartments were good. Security and safety looked OK. "

"I went to Neuvant House Of Lawrence. The facilities were extremely nice. They have both assisted living and memory care, but they're in two separate units. I didn't specify when I made the appointment, so they took me to both. I didn't spend very much time in the assisted living because I wasn't interested in that facility. It was understaffed. The physical facilities were much better than the other facility. They had five people for 16 residents, and they said that their normal staffing would be 10. If they're fully staffed, they would have 10, and they were not fully staffed. Because they were so short, some of the activities were being done by outside contractors. The food was good, but it's scheduled. There are two-hour windows and they're not available 24/7, but there are some snacks available in-between times. People can schedule haircuts and hair appointments and things like that, so they do have the facilities, but they don't have people there to do it. The people that were there were doing a great job. They were very caring with the people, and were watching the people and could tell when somebody needed assistance and that kind of thing. The people that were there were doing a very good job, but they were understaffed."

"Our family can't thank Bridge Haven enough for all the wonderful care and patience for our mother. She was always happy and well fed. Often, she was in the middle of a sing-along or a balloon toss. The staff found her purposeful and simple ways to "help" in the kitchen. Mom loved to hold hands and she sat on the front of back porch holding hands with a staff member. Every other place we looked at did not have enough staff to have given her this much personal attention. We saw the Directors on weekends frequently and they vigiled with us at the end of Mom's life. We could not have been happier. The last years of her life were full of joy. "

"My sister moved into Homestead of Eudora. They had an opening, and I liked it. The staff are very friendly. They have lots of activities. It seems like they really care about their residents. I don't know much about the meals. I had ice cream there when they had an ice cream social, and it was really good. They make sure my sister eats morning, noon, and night, so that's good. They have people who come in and sing. They play volleyball. They play bingo, and they are going to Kohl's tomorrow. They have several outings. It is a nice place. Like all of them, they're super expensive. I get it, and I understand. My sister is getting good quality care, and there's someone to keep an eye on her. I think in today's economy, we're doing good."

"The Vintage is an excellent place. It’s very clean, very nice, and reasonable. The room is sized at about 500 square feet. The people are very friendly. "

"Vintage Park was very good, and we really liked it. My mother could have stayed there longer but she required more care than assisted living. The staff was very good and personable. They seemed to really go above and beyond. My mom and my dad are in the facility in the same room. My dad was helping with my mom more than he should have, so the staff tried to come by to check if there was something that mom needed. The place was just great because they were all interacting with each other. Everybody greeted everybody. It was just very nice. "

"I thought Hillside Village was very nice. I saw one of the rooms; it was just one big room. They had the bed and living room both in one room. There was a big dining room. It seemed really nice. I was just really impressed with the place. However, in terms of security, we could just walk in and out, and there wasn't anyone around other than the residents. "
