"We liked Garden Villas of Lenexa. The staff was great. They were very informative, very welcoming, and lowkey. We also liked the price that they offered, and just the facility itself. The dining area was very nice and very clean. Their menu had lots of choices. It's an older facility, but it's been renovated so it looked bright, cheerful, very modern, and it smelled great. It had a happy atmosphere."

"Based on my visit, it appeared to me that the staff here enjoyed their work. The people working there were good at what they do. I noticed that they had a nice courtyard. They even had an activities director. They also had many small activities and small groups. Among of the things they had were spiritual activities, musicians, and entertainers who would come in. "

"I couldn't have found a better place for Mom. Mom has been at The Village for two years now. I looked at several but at The Village they're just very supportive and encouraging for all the residents and the families involved. It just really seals the deal for me because they really take a personal interest in all the residents and actually the residents' family as well. I just came home from the hospital a week ago from a major surgery, and they sent me this beautiful plant. It was totally unexpected. I consider the facility perfectly fine. It's very convenient, just 13 minutes from my door to hers. It's a family owned, older building but they keep it clean and very much livable. You don't smell that typical nursing home smell when you go in. They make it like a family environment for everyone too. They are caring and they take good care of Mom. I have a great rapport with the aides that work there. They listen to my concerns if ever I express them. I try to do Mom's laundry most of the time. If things are missing, I mention it to one of the aides or even to the administrator. They immediately start looking for what's missing whether it's in the big laundry or in somebody else's room. There's another Dorothy there beside my mom so a lot of times things gets mixed up. My current husband and I have gotten to know a lot of the residents that are there. They seem to be very happy as well. In fact, we've adopted some of them. We take them goodies. One young man probably in his 40s just loves to have me come and bring him some Cherrie tomatoes out of our garden. We brought them several months in a row this year for him. There's also an older gentleman in his mid 90s who is in his wheelchair. He was pretty gruff until we started making friends with him and now he loves it when I bring him anything sugar. The activities they offer there are very satisfactory for what is needed. They have activities for those who can and want to participate. They also have an activity's director there. In fact, we've contributed to her stock of goodies by giving her things that she can use in her activities like old magazines that have pictures, old arts and crafts things we don't need and pulled out of the attic. They have taken care of Mom's nails too. The activity's director will file them and put polish on them. She will also visit the people in their dining table before they eat and offer to clean their glasses with wet wipes if they need it. They do other things too. They play bingo, watch movies and things like that. My mom is not really in a place where she gets involved in that anymore. She has severe dementia now so doesn't really get active with the things that other do. But there's always a lot going on for them. I haven't really eaten there per say but have worked with Mom in feeding sometimes. I know from visiting other nursing homes that the food there is above what most institutions have. They seem to have a varied diet from day to day. They will offer anything from chicken fingers with vegetables, potatoes to pasta. Mom likes it when they have the chili. There are a lot of times at lunchtime that she always likes the chopped onions and ketchup on top of her chili. And if I could ask, they always provide that for her in addition to the regular chili that's presented. So they go out of their way to take care of any individual request that is made. And if people can't eat with their food being provided for whatever dietary reasons, I've seen people with their Ensure shakes or soft diet food. The kitchen seems to know who needs what. They do the right food for whatever diet is needed. The value is amazing. I feel like what they charge is so much less than that what the big places charge. I'm very happy with the charges they offer. Because of the charge level, Mom is able to be in a private room not in a double room which I really appreciate for her. I just feel very lucky and grateful that I was able to find this place."

"Country Club Estates is a little bit older, but has a homey atmosphere. For activities, they take the residents to places. They have books, puzzles, and event nights. I did not try the food, but my dad says it's okay. They offer assisted showers, medication, and transportation. They also offer internet and cable TV. They provided the beds and furniture. They are more homey, which is perfect for my dad. It's a bit dated, but that's just me. It looks perfect for my dad."

"I knew some people who had gone to Life Care Center for rehab so they recommended it. However, we've had some communication issues. When I called to ask about my husband, I want to be told some detail about how he is. Sometimes I had a problem of getting hold of someone. But the place was clean. It had more of a home like atmosphere, and they had good meals. "

"I did visit Vintage Park, and this is assisted living. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for because it is an assisted living, and I thought it was independent living. However it is pretty much independent because the apartments have a kitchenette, private bath, and walk in shower, but it wasn't really what I was looking for. "

"I visited Cedar Lake Village two years ago. It's an older establishment but what's nice was that it's close to the Olathe hospital. Not that I need it, but it's nice to know it's there. The cleanliness was very good. It was 95% satisfactory. The lady I talked to was also nice, very accommodating, and explained everything. She was very friendly. As the residents would pass by, she'd say "Good morning!" or "Hello." She didn't ignore them."

"We moved my parents to Benton House of Olathe. It's all on one floor, and all of the apartments are close to the dining room. We liked that they have a well-equipped staff day and night, and they have different levels of care. The apartment has a refrigerator and a microwave, it's small but it's adequate. Their staff is very attentive and they have a chef on staff. The meals are served like in a restaurant, they bring each course to the table. And because it's cooked onsite, it's hot, fresh, and delicious. Everything is located around the dining room and the community room, so all of the residents can get there easily with their walkers. They have an activities director, they have exercise classes, games, and times of fellowships. In terms of value for money, it's comparable to everyone else. It's still a lot of money, but I've visited four different places and it's comparable in price."

"I volunteered at this assisted living facility and was amazed at the kindness of those that worked there and those that lived there. While there I helped to clean prepare food, and serve food. The people would give me food after I helped pass it out, and they always made me feel welcome. I looked forward to coming and volunteering at this assisted living facility. That's how I spent a lot of my days after school was going to the assisted living home and helping out. If I had to recommend this assisted living home then I would give it a perfect score in terms of hospitality and and comfort ability. They didn't make those who lived there feel like they were old or needy, they made them feel welcome, and they made me feel welcome. This place is all around a great place to spend the rest of your life in and has tons of friendly people that want to better your living experience. "

"Aberdeen Village was beautiful, but it was the dollars and cents, having to buy into it, and $15,000 is a lot of money. It was so nice and clean. The man who took us around was just a lot of fun. It had all of the things that I wanted, except that I would have to buy it. The people were nice. They had everything so prepared. They had a train all set up. There were so many nice things there."

"My Grandmother was a resident of Beautiful Savior home. She previousely was in a different home and was not given the proper attention and broke her hip. She was then moved to Beautiful Savior. Beautiful Savior was a cheaper home, but the service was not on the beauty of the home but the care of the patients. It was very noticable how the nurses were very attentive to the patients. My Grandmother knew all of the nurses and they knew her by name . Still to this day I have one of the nurses in my church and she says I remember your grandmother . Beautiful Savior stands by its name and Angels work there . "

"We visited Santa Marta last summer, and it was wonderful. I have friends who live there. It was beautiful and clean. Their food menu was very desirable; it’s like going into a restaurant and you can order what you want. They have activities for the residents. My friends love it there. "
