"I visited Westmont at San Miguel Ranch. It was very nice but just too far from the house. It was a little hotel-like, but it was very nice. It would probably be my second choice for my mother. It was very nice. It may be a little too much for what she needs, but it was fine. I didn't see anything negative about it except maybe it was a little overdone. The rooms were larger than average. They had a washer and dryer, which my mother doesn’t need. They had a kitchenette in all rooms. I looked at the menu, and it was fine. The way they catered to their residents stood out to me. They seemed to know them all and looked after them. They would feed them no matter what time they showed up in the dining room. "

"I'm moving into Fredericka Manor's independent living. The people seemed pleasant and they have a variety of living situations. When you need assistance, you can add that in like an a la carte option. You can have assisted living at your residence until you are required to move to another route because of health reasons. I've chosen a studio cottage, which has a bungalow arrangement. They're prepping it before I move in with new floors, new carpet, and new paint. There's a variety of floor plans. It's one of the older communities around, but everything is in good repair."

"The facilities of Pacific Pointe are nice and relatively quiet. The people and staff are really good. The food is OK. They have bingo, dominos, coloring, jigsaw puzzles, a library, computers, and karaoke on Friday nights. They have trips to different places, a theater on-site, and televisions all over the place. I've been here since June or July and am comfortable and happy so far. Sometimes the meals aren't coordinated, but we've been able to work with them and get things straightened out. "

"St. Paul's Manor was very nice. It was well organized and clean. They had social rooms and areas where they do their projects and activities. The food was good, and the price included 1 meal a day. There was no parking and no swimming pool, but they had a gym. The staff that I met was friendly. I was able to talk to a couple of residents, and they seemed satisfied with the place. I liked this place. "

"Lantern Crest was brand new. Everybody there was absolutely wonderful, and the residents we met were all upbeat and happy. They did not have anything bad to say about it when we were eating lunch with them. Everybody that lived there loved it. The food was OK. I thought it was a great place. "

"My mom likes Ivy Park at Otay Ranch. She met a few older women there who were very sweet. The location is also close to the family. What she didn't like is the outdoor facility there. They have a courtyard that is kind of like a prison yard. It's completely enclosed within the building, with walls straight up, down, and all the way around it, and it is kind of a different feeling being outdoors there. The girl who gave us the tour was very energetic and excited about her job, as well as the facility. They gave us a delicious apple pie, but we didn't stay for lunch."

"It was very nice and almost brand new. They offered all kinds of activities and had a saltwater pool. One thing I liked about them was, they said that if you have family in the area, they could stay there while you were there."

"Oakmont of Pacific Beach is a very good, busy place. There's a lot going on all the time. They have a physical therapy room. I was able to try the food, and it was very good. We're very happy with the place. It is only about five months old, so everything is fairly new and beautiful. The staff is very kind and competent."

"Very nice decorations, dining is elegant, the caretakers/caregivers seem nice. The actual rooms look a bit shabby(grease spot on floor), but there is cable TV, nice waterfall in front of building, reserved parking, (3 levels of garage, very elegant bar lounge. Also, the people's attitudes are nice, though the dining service was a bit slow(I had a salmon salad). "

"We toured Belmont Village La Jolla. They were nice. It's too expensive and too much of a commute for my brother. They had activities. The food was great. They had a courtyard. They had views. They had all kinds of interactions with the residents. They had outings for the residents. They were just wonderful. The rooms were big and spacious, and the studios were wonderful."
