"I went to Cypress at Junipers Senior Apartments. I thought it was awesome. It's new, it's clean, and the surrounding areas are nice. The people that were there that we talked to were nice. It was great. They're brand new. The apartment is pristine and clean. It was a good size. It was very nice. A friend of mine is moving there from Hawaii, so I'm considering getting a place there."

"My mom is here. She is well taken care of. She has a beautiful apartment. She was able to drive for many years, and when she couldn't drive anymore. They had a bus that took her around just about everywhere she wanted to go. She is well-loved. My mom has a nice big one-bedroom-one-bath. She has a living room, a little dinette, and a little kitchenette with stove and refrigerator, and she loves it. The dining room is nice. The food is okay. The meals are okay. There's variety, too. The people working there are excellent. They have a lot of weekly activities. There is a gym and a theater. My mom went to Mass on Sunday. There is a bus to take them to all kinds of activities. They went to the casino, baseball games, and the track."

"My sister moved into Westmont at San Miguel Ranch. The staff members are caring, interesting, and friendly. I like the cleanliness. They're on time when they say they're going to be somewhere. They're very helpful. The dining area is very clean and client-friendly, as far as conversations with other people. They have a happy hour. They take the patients out on trips. They have entertainment that comes in. They have social meetings for the residents. It's a good facility."

"We had an in-person visit at Silvergate Rancho Bernardo. We liked best that it was a brand-new facility with very nice decor. The people that we met and the staff, they're very nice and the people that we met with comported themselves very professionally. They had good food, it was better than average. They had all types of amenities including physical fitness, a dining room, a library, movies, and so on. It's very professionally managed."

"I'm moving into St. Paul's Manor. I have all of my reservations confirmed and paid for. The reason I'm moving is because my grown children are there in San Diego. I have visited and stayed overnight and I ate two meals. It is a reasonably priced, good home. The rooms are smaller than the other place, but they have been able to accommodate me with enough space that I will feel comfortable. I have a patio and a single bedroom separate from the living room. I feel that it will be adequate because I'm used to larger spaces. I only ate one meal and I greatly prefer the manner that they wait on the residents. I was told that several members who like classical music have the opportunity to participate in learning more about it and enjoying it. They go through an intense interview with the prospective resident and I spent most of my time being interviewed rather than touring, however, they helped both my daughters, and they were very happy with their tours."

"We visited Vi at La Jolla Village. The staff was fine. It was very elegant. They had an indoor pool and a gym. They had a trainer if you want to get specialized training. They had valet parking. They had two high-rise buildings, and it was very closely monitored. "

"Atria La Jolla was a very nice place. There wasn't really anybody out and about. There was like one resident in the lobby and that was it. The staff was very friendly, very welcoming and very nice. The place was awesome, other than it was a little too small and a little too restrictive for my mom. She is 87, but she is pretty independent, and this was a little restrictive for her. They are using the dining room, but it's only three days a week right now, and they only have 16 people at a time. They have four tables together in four separate areas, so they accommodate 16 people right now in the dining area during the Covid thing, but it was closed when I visited. What they're doing is they're delivering food to the rooms for the other residents, which includes three meals a day. They also have transportation."

"My mom's overall experience has been good. In 10 years, it was sold 4 times. The experience has been good and I have no complaints at all about the facility. She has a studio and it's very nice. She's on the third floor, which she chose because she likes being on that floor. All the activities are on the second floor and the dining is on the first floor. She has a very nice room with a view of the common area and the garden outside. She also has a little porch and a little patio. The upkeep is good in general. She needed to have her air conditioner replaced and it took quite a while to get that done but as far as general maintenance, it's been fine. I have no complaints about it. The staff has been good. There's been a few people she hasn't cared for, but over the years, I have not had any complaints about their staff. The food and the dining areas have always been good too. She's 102 now but when she went in, she was 92 and was really active. There is a lot to do every day from Bridge to Bingo to Trivial Pursuit. They have an area with a gym too. She used to sing in a singing group when she first went in, but I don't think that's still going on. There are plenty of things and activities there. They have movie nights, an early evening movie thing. There's a long list of things to do every day. There are at least 4 or 5 things to do. It is a beautiful facility. I would recommend it to anybody. Since Bonita bought it, she's had like a $300 almost $400 increase and nobody seems to be able to explain why. I've been dealing with it since December and they keep telling me they're going to figure out what is going on with her rent. I keep paying the rent. We've been paying $3700, which for a level 1 assisted living, I think, is a great value for what she's getting. Then it went up to almost over $4000 and I'm struggling to try to understand that. I've not been able to get anything done but I think they are actively trying to keep it around that. I'm just afraid if it goes too much over $4000, we would need another place to put her. When the place sells, it's always difficult but I know other places have the same issues and that's what my problem is with them right now."

"We toured Belmont Village La Jolla. They were nice. It's too expensive and too much of a commute for my brother. They had activities. The food was great. They had a courtyard. They had views. They had all kinds of interactions with the residents. They had outings for the residents. They were just wonderful. The rooms were big and spacious, and the studios were wonderful."

"I toured Ivy Park at Otay Ranch. What happened was, I explained why I was looking for another facility. I was looking for something more affordable. So, the director I met with explained the financial situation with the home and that my friend would need to be assessed for his care and likely it would exceed the amount he was currently paying. I could see the facility, it's very new, and extremely nice, but not affordable. The upkeep, it's immaculate. It's extremely nice. It looked like a high-end hotel. The dining area looked very nice. I don't know what the food was like because I didn't see it, but the dining atmosphere was very nice. It's a spacious facility. The staff was very good and I appreciated that she explained the finances right away. She was very professional."

"We went to Fredericka Manor. The staff member, Cristina, was incredibly awesome. She was very kind, was very professional, and she showed and shared what the community was all about, while still allowing us to ask questions. She was very articulate in allowing people to make up their own minds, while providing that information and opening up that dialogue. The surroundings are beautiful, it's like a neighborhood, it makes you feel right at home, and it's all landscaped and beautifully done. The whole place is tremendously well kept, and they've done a lot of renovations. The rooms were spacious, the apartments were wonderful, they allow a sofa, you bring your own furniture in, you can have your bedroom, they have a mini kitchenette, they provide a mini refrigerator/freezer, they provide a microwave, and they have a laundry service. You can have rooms with views. The food is five stars."
