My dad moved into Westmont of La Mesa. They had a combination of good health care capability. It was new and bright. The staff seemed very good, and the amenities were good. They had a nice patio area, and it was adjacent to a park. They had a very nice theater, a nice exercise room, and a barbershop/beauty salon. They had a pretty wide range of activities. They also had a little sundry store where you could pick up personal items. The dining facility was nice as well. There is in-room service and in-room dining available as well. The staff was great and very, very helpful. The food is excellent, and dad is happy with it. The facility is brand new and very bright. They had very nice and spacious hallways. It is clean, and everything looks fresh. They have a daily calendar. They have movies, cards, exercise, Tai Chi, and current events. You're paying for what you get for sure. I think it's fairly priced. We must have looked at eight or nine places, and they kind of came right in about where we expected them to. We've been also happy about their COVID precautions because of the Omicron. They've just upped the restrictions a little bit. We feel good that they're looking after the residents there in terms of that issue. It's important to us.

My mother in law has been at Westmont since May 2022. What seemed pretty good for about 2 months has deteriorated into a daily struggle. One of the "amenities" that she liked was the bus ride on Saturdays. Since she is not driving any more, just getting out for a joy ride and to see San Diego was very appealing. In the middle of the summer the bus driver quit, and there has been no replacement yet (6 months later). This is very disappointing to her. She likes the Thursday afternoon happy hour where there is always live music. There is a park attached to the property and this is very nice to be able to take a walk out to the park on a sunny afternoon. The property is kept up well. The staff are all respectful and kind, but the FOOD SERVICE is terrible!. And much of the food offered is salty and high in fat/fried/breaded. Just not the best diet for seniors that are trying to stay healthy. She is ill right now and is having her meals delivered to her room. Sometimes they come on time, other times she has to call because she has not received her meal. Last night she never received her dinner. The seniors really look forward to meal time - it is for a lot the highlight of their day. In my opinion, the wait staff and kitchen prep staff is doing a very poor job.

I visited the Westmont of La Mesa, and it's the one I like the most. I like their rooms the best. The apartments had appliances and they had a full kitchen and cabinets. The person who gave me the tour was great and she did great. They also have beautiful outdoor spaces with large covered patios and little walkways.

I'm staying at Westmont La Mesa. I've looked at other places, and although they're very nice, this one seems to fit the bill best. One thing that I don't like is that we don't have enough transportation, but I guess all the places are feeling that pressure. They can't get a driver qualified to drive the bus, and that's a problem, getting people to their doctor's appointments and whatever. I wish they could improve the driving facility. They are short of staff. Since we were independent, and they also have memory care and assisted living, we are a little shortchanged on independent living. During the first year, with COVID and all the restrictions and delivery, I take that into account, but it has improved. It's not topnotch, you can't expect that with everything. We're located in a park, so that's another added feature. There's a nice little park adjacent to the building. There's a pool and a theater. They can't seem to get the temperature right in the theater, it's always freezing cold in there, but I don't know just why we keep complaining about that. But there are activities, and they are sufficient, it just depends on who's here that day. We have a problem with staffing, that is a major problem. It's more expensive than the other ones I've looked at. They need to improve some of the things that they promised us when we moved in. We don't go on trips anymore, since the bus that they have for the facility has not been out for eight months, because they can't get someone qualified to drive it.

My Aunt was a resident of Westmont, both in the Assisted Living and Compass Rose sections until her passing. In both sections she received wonderful care and tremendous support from everyone at Westmont. The facility is new and beautiful with so many amenities that supported my Aunt's elderly lifestyle. She really loved her modern apartment and adored her caregivers. My family is also very thankful for the care, support and guidance shown to both my Aunt and our family during her time there and her transition from one section to another. The Westmont team, both administration and care staff, went above and beyond in providing amazing care, services and support to her and our family before, during and after her living there, always with dignity and compassion. We will be eternally grateful for finding such an incredible facility and loving staff, and we highly recommend Westmont to anyone looking for a care center for a family member. Thank you.

My spouse has moved into Westmont of La Mesa. It's a wonderful community. I'm very happy with it. It's a perfect location. We live in La Mesa, so we thought that would be great. The community is beautiful. The caregivers are wonderful. They are very caring and take good care of her. They meet all of our expectations. The outdoor spaces are beautiful. In the memory care specifically, they have a beautiful patio area that opens to a wide beautiful park-like setting. For the rest of the community, they're right on the edge of a park, so they have a beautiful outdoor area for the residents.

Westmont is newly constructed. The rooms are excellent and well-equipped. The common areas are inviting and friendly. The staff members are informative, cooperative and enthusiastic. It is located near a hospital and it overlooks the park. We ate there and the food was excellent. They have the usual menu supplemented by daily specials.
