My mother moved into Gold Canyon Care Home. They seem pretty good so far. Everybody is really nice. Her room is very nice. She's going to end up with a roommate, but right now there's no roommate. She has a closet, a dresser, and they put pictures up on the dresser. She has a TV in the room. The bed looks like it will move, it's got like the up and down thing, like a hospital bed, and that's good. I think she'll like that. The first day I was there, they brought home some deli Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, and it was really good. But my mom didn't like eating that day, so they told me to give her Ensure. They have games, and they have a time where they all get together and do things together in one big room. It looks like they have a nice big kitchen and a lot of staff. They have lots of bathrooms, it's the walk-in kind, they can wheelchair her in and give her a bath. They have a patio deck going all the way around the house, and in the backyard they have a big view looking over a canyon, and they have barbecues out there. It's very nice.

Gold Canyon Care Home is a board and care. They have like six patients. The man was nice enough, but the facility was not acceptable to me. I just wasn't impressed with it. They had bright-colored rooms.

I went to Gold Canyon Care Home. It is old and the walls feel sticky. The interior was not that great, but the exterior was good because it had a good view of the canyon and behind it, but the in front of it was not very good because it was right off of a school. The person who gave the tour kept pushing for a shared bedroom and I was not looking for that.

What I liked best about Gold Canyon Care Home was that it seemed like a very cozy home. It had great gym equipment, especially the recumbent stair stepper, which would be ideal for my mother. That was a big selling point. They have hundreds of DVD movies. They have a dog, a cat, chickens, and they have fresh eggs. They have little garden areas where they grow vegetables and herbs. The deck overlooks a canyon. It seems to be a very warm home and it's not overly crowded. I looked at the bedrooms. I wouldn't call them stylish, but they're cozy. It's like most homes. So those were the main things. My mother grew up on a farm, and I think she would like to see the chickens, so I like that. The cat was very sweet, and the dog was big but not aggressive. It seemed like a great place for my mom, so I'm very happy with it. And the location is great, too. The only staff I met were the owners. They told me that the caregivers live onsite. But what I liked about it is that they put two homes together, and on one side is where all of the caretakers live, and then on the other side is where all of the seniors live. It created like a big open space, and I like that. And I like the fact that if my mother wants to watch a movie, she can get away from any noise in the kitchen. They have a number of rooms, which I like. The menu has a lot of variety. My mother loves scrambled eggs, so the fact that they have chickens and fresh eggs every day is a bonus. Physically, it's an old home. I was mostly shocked at the color of the rooms. They were all mono color, and they were either all pink, purple, or blue. It's very dated and not pretty, but it's a comfortable place, and I think that matters the most.

Gold Canyon Care Home was nice. It looked like more of a home than a big assisted living. It looked like a family-run business that you would fit in. The atmosphere's nice. They would let my mom's dog come and they even came out to visit my mom this weekend. It's just that the price was steeper than we expected. They had a big TV room, exercise equipment, and a big deck that you could go around and that it overlooked a canyon. It was a big house. It was like two houses put together with a quarter in the middle. One house was for their family and caregivers and the other side was for their guests. It was nice looking to me. My husband thought so, too. It was in a nice, quiet neighborhood. We met the owners and they're friendly, informative, and seemed caring.

Gold Canyon Care Home seemed very kind and giving to the residents. The facility itself was quite cluttered though and I think that would be very confusing to someone with dementia. They would have two people in one room, which is fine as they got big bedrooms, however the one room they were showing me for mom, one bed was up against the wall and the windows, and the other bed was empty and was up against the closet that was open without doors and clothes hanging clearly for both people. I thought that would be very confusing and frustrating as well. The facility was also kind of shabby, but the people were very pleasant and very good. They were getting everyone for lunch, so they were truly doing their jobs. I'm sure they will probably work with you and accommodate you.

We have chosen Gold Canyon Care Home for my friend and we're going in the direction of moving her. She needs assistance in walking, and personal needs, and she is a fall risk. In the sheet they gave us, they have outlined what their care levels are and then priced them out accordingly. She is at their third level of assisted living and there are four levels in that facility. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone going there. It's an open floor plan and they do family-style dinners there. There is a family that lives there. Another building is right adjacent to the actual facility and their caregivers live in that building so there is someone in the facility 24 hours a day. The family that was there, it was during the Easter break when we visited, and their son was there. Arman, his wife, and another caregiver were there too so it was just very family-oriented. We got a chance to view the rooms and they are more than adequate. It has a lovely outside deck that looks down into the canyon, and that's where they got their name Gold Canyon. They grow their own vegetables organically, so they have that going on as well. For being a care facility, it was just very nicely set up. We did not get to try their food but we were shown a refrigerator filled with food. As I said, it is a family-dining style. Arman likes to barbecue so there is barbecuing that is going on when it's nice outside. I think the delightful part of it was that it is a family situation. I just feel with my heart that they treat their guests like family. We asked about the activities and they have a large screen TV. My friend likes to watch movies so that was something that we knew she would be interested in. Also, we are putting into place having a physical therapist come in for her. They have physical therapy equipment there and they encourage that to be put to use. They said they were working with the residents too, like making Easter eggs and doing different crafty things. Having placed other people in other facilities and being aware of what's available, I think this is going to be a perfect choice for my friend just because she doesn't need skilled nursing care.
