"I visited Right Choice Senior Living, and then I also spoke to the owner on the phone. The owner, for some reason, didn't know that I was going to be there, so he wasn't there. One of the caregivers assisted me. The tour was good. I liked it. Edgar was the caregiver, and he seemed to be very attentive to each resident. Each resident wasn't tied to a strict schedule. The residents could go outdoors if they wanted, but no gym or library that I was shown."

"My mom has been in assisted living now for a month and a half. It's called Paradise Village. So far, my mom is very happy there. People working there are good. The facility is about a block from the hospital if needed. They have everything that is needed within walking distance. Food there is great so far. I have no problems with it. Their rooms are a little bit small though. "

"The staff was very attentive at Atria Collwood. The room that I saw and the dining room seemed very nice. What impressed me the most was the executive director’s relationship with the residents. They seemed to adore the executive director. There was a very loving relationship between them. "

"I went and did an in-person tour. We just saw a room, a studio, and she explained what the one-bedroom would look like. It looks nice, the model rooms they're all fixed up, they're very small."

"I liked the staff at Ivy Park at Bonita; they were very welcoming. This one had more of a homey feel, like it was a house. They were very informative. They also had events to kind of get the residents involved. They had what they call "A Taste of Ivy" event. It just happened that we came upon that that night. They gave us a sample of their stir fry. The chef was cooking it out, and I thought it was good. They also gave us a drink that they made their own syrup for and they gave us a bottle of it. They also gave us homemade cookies that I don't know if the chef made, but that was also delicious. I liked how they gave you a chance to kind of check out a little bit of what they have to offer."

"We went to the Ivy Park at Otay Ranch. We were there just to eat and it was nice. It's like a hotel. So far, the people I met were all right. The food was alright, and you were served like, in a restaurant. They showed us places where they can exercise. The staff was very helpful. It was clean."

"It was very nice, it was just a little more expensive than the other place, and they didn't have a pool and a spa. The apartments were fairly decent size, very nice, but not much storage. They had a very good list of things to do, they take people shopping, and they had several choirs; they were very good on that from what we saw. The staff seemed to be hard working. The dining area was very nice, and typical."

"My father has lived in a cottage for 2 years and loves it! He was widowed 3 years before deciding to move into a retirement community because he thought he was doing just fine on his own...and he was. However, it was lonely and isolating to live in a big 4 bedroom house with 2 stories in Mission Viejo. He's as social as he want's to be. Currently, he's in charge of the weekly Bocci game, participates in daily exercise and weekly ballroom and line dancing and the choir. He has a good group of friends that he shares dinner with nightly and they often attend live theatre together, something he would never have done living alone. He loves the close proximity of Balboa Park and Coronado Island and visits often with friends and out of town guests. He tells me all the time "this was the best decision I could have ever made!" "

"My mom has been in Lantern Crest and it is OK. It is a lot of money, but it is hard to find anything that provides services for a great price. My mom's room is small; however, I haven't been in there since we first moved her in. There are activities. When we were checking it out, they had trips, and they played music. It looked like a lot of fun, but it is not like that now."

"What I liked best about Gold Canyon Care Home was that it seemed like a very cozy home. It had great gym equipment, especially the recumbent stair stepper, which would be ideal for my mother. That was a big selling point. They have hundreds of DVD movies. They have a dog, a cat, chickens, and they have fresh eggs. They have little garden areas where they grow vegetables and herbs. The deck overlooks a canyon. It seems to be a very warm home and it's not overly crowded. I looked at the bedrooms. I wouldn't call them stylish, but they're cozy. It's like most homes. So those were the main things. My mother grew up on a farm, and I think she would like to see the chickens, so I like that. The cat was very sweet, and the dog was big but not aggressive. It seemed like a great place for my mom, so I'm very happy with it. And the location is great, too. The only staff I met were the owners. They told me that the caregivers live onsite. But what I liked about it is that they put two homes together, and on one side is where all of the caretakers live, and then on the other side is where all of the seniors live. It created like a big open space, and I like that. And I like the fact that if my mother wants to watch a movie, she can get away from any noise in the kitchen. They have a number of rooms, which I like. The menu has a lot of variety. My mother loves scrambled eggs, so the fact that they have chickens and fresh eggs every day is a bonus. Physically, it's an old home. I was mostly shocked at the color of the rooms. They were all mono color, and they were either all pink, purple, or blue. It's very dated and not pretty, but it's a comfortable place, and I think that matters the most."
