"We chose this facility for my father in law. He has dementia related to multiple health issues. He is currently on hospice care at the facility in their memory care unit. The staff is fantastic. He is in a companion room which is perfect. He only shares a bathroom and kitchenette area with another resident. They each have their on bedroom. The room is bright and cheerful. We were able to decorate it however we wanted. We visit each day and he is always clean, well groomed and happy. He does not lay around in his room all day but is up and encouraged to be engaged with other residents and staff. He was able to keep his dog even though he requires assistance feeding and walking him. There are large common living rooms and dining rooms which are decorated in a homey environment. Every time we are there the residents are engaged with staff in activities or enjoying thier surroundings. Any little thing we mention to staff is taken care immediately. He is very happy there and we are gratefull for his care. I am in the health care field and know what to look for in the care. This care is excellent. "

"I toured Ivy Park at Otay Ranch. It's brand new. It's a very nice facility. It's very light, airy, and open. The residents that I saw there seemed to be very happy. I went into the dining area and talked with some of them about the food, and they said it was excellent. I looked at the large studio and the small studio. The small studio was more than enough room for my mom. I was quite impressed with it. It was a good size and very pleasant. The bathroom was a very good size. The whole building is brand new, so it looks very fresh and clean. They supply the refrigerator and the microwave in the unit. However, I wasn't impressed with the staff who toured me. She was not friendly. I think what she was doing was something that is not normally her duty. I waited for about 15 minutes, and she didn't strike me as being friendly. They gave me some home-baked cookies before I left, and they were delicious."

"I did stay in a place called Fredericka Manor. I was at rehab there. It's a very large complex. The rooms are usually two to a room. The staff was very outstanding. Sometimes, the food was real bad, especially for breakfast. They have a full range of activities: movies, dances, parties, bingo, church. It's right in the middle of Chula Vista. They have a little hospital. There are shopping centers. Anything you want is there. "

"We visited Lantern Crest Assisted Living. It’s a 2-year-old community, so the whole place is very clean, organized, well managed as well as well maintained. In case mom needs to make an appointment, they take her to her doctors' appointments. "

"Gold Canyon Care Home is a board and care. They have like six patients. The man was nice enough, but the facility was not acceptable to me. I just wasn't impressed with it. They had bright-colored rooms."

"Sun and Sea Manor was very secure, and their staff was very nice. The coordinator was very straightforward and honest. I liked the fact that it is less than 30 capacity. That way, you have more one-on-one care. Right now, there are only 14 people. The capacity is up to 29, so you have more personal care. Their planned activities are nice, and they keep them active. They take care of them 24 hours. It's an overall safe place for them to go. It's a hard decision, but they made it an easy transition. It's a really good place, but my father hasn't gone in yet. I saw the food and the quality. I could smell the food and know whether if it was very fresh or if it was too salty just by smelling it. I have a really good sensitive sense of smell. The food looked great, smelled well, and looked very healthy. I didn't see a lot of the area because it's during COVID time."

"We toured Belmont Village La Jolla. They were nice. It's too expensive and too much of a commute for my brother. They had activities. The food was great. They had a courtyard. They had views. They had all kinds of interactions with the residents. They had outings for the residents. They were just wonderful. The rooms were big and spacious, and the studios were wonderful."

"Belmont Village is very nice. The people that work there are extremely caring and helpful. They have a lot of activities. They have a bus or a van that takes them out on trips. The surroundings are very nice. They have a nice warm pool. They have different size rooms. The room that my sister is actually living in is a one-bedroom den. She had a TV room or a living room, another room for her bedroom, and a bathroom. We decided on Belmont because she enjoys her visit there, and they are so nice to her. She says, "Well, this is my home." "

"I toured. It was very nice. It was clean and bright. What I like about it is that it's small. Right now, memory care only has 17 people in it. I think they have five caregivers in that ratio, and that's very good. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I didn't sample the food, but the dining area looked just fine. They seem to have a good deal of activities. They have people coming in to perform once a week, and that's pretty good."

"I toured AvantGarde Senior Living of La Jolla. The staff told me that my friend wouldn't be able to have a private room, but the papers that the social worker had sent me said that he could have a private room. The staff was awesome. It's very clean, but it is an older place. They've got it fixed up real cute, but I didn't like the shared rooms. It was a good atmosphere. It seemed like all the patients who were there were very happy. The shared room has a curtain in between down the middle, just like a hospital room. It's in a beautiful location. It's right in the middle of La Jolla. It's near the water. You can take the bus, and it drops you off right near there. It's a beautiful neighborhood that they're in."

"I've had the pleasure of visiting Monarch Cottage on many occasions. I am always greeted in a warm, professional manner that sets the tone of the community. I come to visit an old friend and am always impressed with the compassion that I see in the interactions between the residents and staff. The community is beautiful, the location is great and the residents are happy. I look forward to my visits there. "
