"My parents both live at Columns Care Home. They are 95 years old and I'm very comfortable with their care. I happen to be very cautious in giving recommendations about care because I'm a registered nurse, and very picky about how my parents are cared for. This RCFE takes times to provide customized care, even down to my parents particular food likes and dislikes. The current owner, Charlie, has been told to shop tirelessly (4 supermarkets!) until he finally found my dad's sugar free chocolate ice-cream. The caregivers are patient, loving and gentle and they work very well with the hospice program that my mother is on. I can sleep fitfully at night because the owner and staff at Columns Care Home treat my folks like they are their folks. What more could a daughter ask for? Thank you Jovie, Maria, Isa, and of course, Charlie. Readers, I provided this info at no one's request. "

"Park Plaza was a bigger facility, and it was very beautiful. The population was a bit older. The tour was nice. There was a lot of light, it was very pretty, but there was a community fee. They have transportation to the doctors, and also doctors who come to the premises. The staff were all very nice, very informative, and very willing to spend time with you. They have rooms on the first floor and the dining room. They have a library, but it was just a very tiny area with like four bookshelves on it. I hardly call that a library, but nowadays, that's what they call it. I give a rating of five on everything except for the community fee. The place looks brand new, and they said we have to redo the whole room when someone moves out. I don't believe that because these are seniors who are just barely getting around. They're not destructive. But I thought the facility itself was beautiful and a five in every way, but not for my sister. People tended to be a little bit older, and my sister is 73, so that's why I like the other place better, and the community fee is double the other place."

"My father moved into Oakmont of Orange. When I first went for my appointment, they had a wonderful sign welcoming me for the tour. I met with the marketing director who sat with me and answered all my questions and introduced me to the wellness director and the executive director. They spent some time with me understanding my father's condition and situation and what we were looking for. They went through their programs and how they would address his needs. They were willing to go visit him initially to get a better idea of what the costs would be, on top of just the monthly rate, that would address his needs in terms of additional care. They showed me the available apartment that they had thought would be best for him, given what I had requested for him, which was being close to the restaurant and the social activities. So, that was all nice because it seemed very personalized and thoughtful. The property itself is not large, but it's also not small. The apartment my dad has is in a great location and overlooked the courtyard. Although the kitchen is small, there's not a whole lot of need for a full kitchen. I appreciated that the living area of the apartment is much larger than the kitchen area. The quality of the facility is top-notch. And everybody that I met on the tour, which included the activities director, the chauffeur, and the maintenance crew, were all very nice and the residents seemed happy. It was very calm and quiet, and yet, everybody was very interactive when I was there. The restaurant is very fancy, and the food reviews of the chef there were always five stars reviews for the quality of the food, and that turned out to be true after having eaten there with my father. Everything has worked out well. They were very accommodating with my move-in requests and getting the room set up. In terms of how it was after, I had decided that my dad would be a good fit there. They were very amenable to the process of moving him in. I honestly couldn't be happier. Part of that is also that my father is happy there and he feels very much at home, comfortable, and welcome, and he feels like it is a very, very top-notch place. My dad is going to the workout classes, he's playing games. I know that he's actively engaging in the activities. The wellness team is very responsive. I've asked them to take into consideration different courses of care for him. Based on my father's communication about what's happening, this has been handled and managed. I was told that when he transitioned over that they would make sure that through his Medicare, he would be able to get more physical therapy regularly and for a longer period of time than what he was discharged with from skilled nursing. And so, that's happened. They also coordinated an appointment with the concierge doctor that comes to the facility. There was another company they work with that helps with hearing tests that he's now going to be assessed in. It seems like things are happening to his benefit and being given the necessary attention to the kind of keep him cared for. Also, the initial assessment of additional assisted living that was done in the beginning wasn't necessary, so they made an adjustment to the care they provided versus the care they had assigned because it wasn't needed. "

"We had to start looking for a place for my mother-in-law due to her dementia. Wishing that I could take care of her that she needed to be in a place where they could watch Her 24. And I having 2 jobs wouldn't be able to take care of her. I wanted her to be taken care of So we went to Crescent landing Had a tour. Everybody, there was nice. They had a lot of knowledge Of people with dementia and all timers very friendly gave us a tour. place is nice and big. A nice place for them to walk around lots of Benches, so they can sit down and relax. the food there Is very good. Very close to my house. So I can go visit her anytime I want. They do activities for them. They cook they make cookies. I enjoy going over there. To see my mother-in-law and I join in on some of their activities. The place is nice and roomy, very clean."

"I cannot say enough about how much our family appreciated all the warm care and consideration that Clearwater/Clearbrook's staff showed to my elderly aunt during her time there. From the moment you enter the premises, there is a welcome feeling of relaxed luxury that comes from the thoughtful design, with outdoor walking paths, greenery such as olive trees and shaded patios w bbq grills and lounge areas. Our favorite dining spot was the "pub", an indoor dog-friendly space which allowed my aunt to spend time with our family pets...no airplane food here! Having a chapel on site was such a unique amenity that brought us comfort as well. The best feature, however, is the staff, all of whom I felt did their best to make residents feel at home while partnering and communicating with family to provide the best care possible. Clearwater/Clearbrook's people, policies and environment have created such a positive space, which translates to and is felt by the residents and guests alike. We treasured her time there, and are so grateful to everyone for making her final journey a beautiful one."

"Citrus Hills Assisted Living was tired. It needed painting. They got concrete floors, no carpeting. The staff seemed to be good, but I wasn't there long enough to assess much other than looking at the facility and its accommodations. The dining area was fine. The outdoor area was upstairs and it was an open air patio area. It was OK."

"I toured Park View Estates Assisted Living & Memory Care. It was very modern-looking and very clean. The rooms were big and very beautiful. Your meals were included. They paid for gas, electricity and cable, transportation, and activities. I didn't have any food there other than she offered us cookies. They have a movie day, and a church service, and they have one day for that."

"We toured Atria Golden Creek's memory care facility. I liked the facility very much. People seemed caring and willing to take care of the problems that present themselves in people with dementia, so that was a good place to be. The staff who assisted us was very good, open and friendly, cooperative, and answered all our questions. The memory care area was open and well-maintained. There were quite a variety of places. There were some indoor lounges, some outdoor seating, and walking areas. It was all very good. When we get to it, that would be one of the places that we'd be considering."

"I toured and the place is spotless and very pleasant. All the residents there seemed very happy to be there. The staff was very professional and very kind to the residents. It was not a large area but it was very pleasant. It was shaded with lots of chairs and umbrellas. They had raised flower beds for the residents to do some planting activity, so it's really nice."

"Mom was at Brookdale Brookhurst for respite care. We chose this place because they were one of the few places that had a two-week stay, which was exactly what we wanted and mom's primary care doctor had a couple of patients who had moved in there permanently and were doing well. So, I had a positive review from her doctor. They were warm and friendly. The people that worked there were very attentive. The facility was very nice. We were invited for lunch before she went to stay there. I wasn't crazy about the food, but during her time there, she said the food was delicious. So, her opinion is more important than mine. One complaint she had was that there were no activities in the evening. After an early dinner, everything was over and she wished there had been something to do in the evening. Then on her second or last day there, another resident took her up to the third floor and it turns out there was a whole big room there with puzzles, games, and things that she didn't know about. It would have been nice if she had a tour at the beginning, so she knew all the amenities that were there. Mom's apartment was nice. She loved that it was a one-bedroom apartment. It was a suite. It had a separate bedroom. She liked that it wasn't just a hotel room. They were very expensive and something that my mom was upset about was when I was first doing the research and trying to figure out what choices she had, the cost was what it was, and then on the day when we went and signed up and did the formal thing, the fees had gone up and mom didn't like that and I agreed. When I went in there, they should have said, "These fees are good for some amount of time." or "Sometimes the fees go up." So, we didn't like that very much."
