The tour at Lodge of Northbrook was very good. I met with the lady there who was very, very, gracious, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I fell in love with the apartment. They have washers and dryers in every room. A particular apartment had this wonderful balcony. It was amazing. They had a crafts room. They showed me everything. There are two buildings and depending on where you are, it's not quite as convenient. Some of the areas were a little tired and needed an update. The food wasn't as good as the other place, but it wasn't bad. We had lunch at sort of a cafe and the service was not wonderful. The Lodge is more of a senior apartment kind of place because they don't offer a lot of services unless you pay extra for them. It's a much lower monthly rate, but it doesn't come with much.

Not thrilled

My mother spent the last 2 1/2 years of her life at The Lodge. The original building is starting to show it's age; many of the more loyal and dedicated staff members left in 2022. Most of the residents do not have their meals in the dining room, and food service is not available on the weekends.

We found Lodge of Northbrook because a neighbor told us about it. We are in it right now since August and we are very happy with it. The building is very nice and it’s a brand new building when we moved in so everything was just starting up from scratch, but we are getting everything settled now. The facility is in a very beautiful location. I would say the general atmosphere is very friendly and casual. The scene from my apartment is just out of this world. There is a little hill and the river runs fast. It's all open and there are no buildings that are behind us. It's very lovely. They have activities and they have committees formed for their activities. Definitely, I would recommend them.
