"The staff I met at Bickford of Tinley Park was nice and friendly. It's a two-year facility that's well maintained and well laid out. It's only one building with 66 beds and 16 beds of memory care. It has a very nice and friendly kind of a environment. They had a fitness center, a beauty shop, an outside activities director, they do off campus stuff, they had a shuttle, an activities room, and a center courtyard for walking, for barbecues and things like that. They kept the seniors pretty busy for the month."

"It was a little bit smaller. It didn't have (I don't think) as much room for my mom, if she was to go there and get away from anybody. It was not as spacious, but it was very clean. Their workout room was part of the physical therapy part of it. I'm not sure if there's a separation or not. I know that they said that you can use it, but I think it was combined. We were able to check the menu. It was very good."

"Tinley Court is an exceptionally friendly community. The staff is exceptionally courteous, professional, caring, and concerned about the residents. Three meals a day areincluded. They have a registered nurse on the premises 24/7, and the doctor visits once a week. They are very friendly and supportive of veterans, and they allow smoking in a particular room outside. They have great food, and there are no down payments or community fee, just monthly fees. It is not modern and gorgeous, but it’s homey and lovely. The rooms are basically one size but without kitchenette. "

"The Cottages was good. They were friendly, and we felt welcome there. The residents were separated by skill level or something along those lines. "

"Clarendale seemed very upbeat, and very bright. The setting was ideal. They have views of the lake, and they have views of the tree line. They back up to some wetlands so nobody will build right behind them on either end and side. It was just a pleasant experience. We talked about assisted living and independent living where we thought it would be great, and ideal that if my sister progressed, they would move her into independent living if she got past the assisted living guidelines. The person who gave me the tour was very upbeat. She was humorous, and she was great to work with. The rooms were very nice. We saw different sizes for different situations. The downfall of both of these is that she would have to go up on the elevator, and she is not a person who rides elevators because she's very claustrophobic. So we're going to have a hurdle to overcome in any of these places that we've seen. The rooms were more than adequate, and they had windows that brightened up the area. They did give us a complimentary pecan pie, those little ones. I don't know where it came from, whether it was there, or somewhere else, but it was very good. They have a movie room where they have popcorn and sort of like a theater. They have the bingo and board games going on. They have a bar that you can go in and socialize with other people. They have the bistro where if you don't want a hot breakfast or a hot meal, you can go and get a sandwich or whatever, they're at the Bistro and eat. They provide tables out there. There's a cafeteria, and it looked adequate and clean. At the time we were there, I didn't see any personnel, I just saw the people in there eating, and they seemed to be enjoying everything. They have a pool table, which doesn't interest her, but it's there. They have the physical therapy people that are there. They have the beauty shop. There are a lot of things provided. I really liked it. It's a little overpriced in my opinion. It is the highest priced-one we've looked at."

"My mom moved to StoryPoint Romeoville. I liked the inclusivity and the stimulation that they're able to provide my mom to sustain the rest of the life that she has. The staff was very nice and helpful. They have lots of activities. They have exercise, volleyball, with a big ball for them. They had dominoes, and then somebody came in to play the harp, and they took them outside, it's very active."

"A wonderful concept of providing care. Instead of being an institutional environment, it is a comfortable single-family home that has been designed for this purpose. My grandmother loved the fact that she lived in a single family home, with three other residents, while getting all the help that she needed. I would recommend Golden Age to anyone who is looking for a place that offers assisted living. Like they claim...at Golden Age you don't live in a home, you live at home."

"I had an in-person tour of the Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge. I like the friendliness. The lady let us talk to some of the people that live there, and they were very friendly. They told me about all the different activities that they do. They go out and do outings a lot. They have a garden if they plant. Talking to the actual residents was the best part of the whole tour. I could see my dad having a full life if he lived there and be able to interact with people and go to places. The staff was very nice and helpful. The way they have the dining area set up was nice. They take their orders like they're at a restaurant, and I like that as well. The residents said that the food was good."

"My father-in-law is in StoryPoint Bolingbrook. He's been there now two years and it wasn't hard to get him in. Once he got there, the community was very special and very welcoming. The events director took a liking to my father-in-law, and they got a great relationship. The whole staff is wonderful. He recently had a couple falls, which is typical for a 100-year-old from time to time but their care and attention to detail was very good. I felt like they were there with me and my wife every step of the way to try to get all these stuff resolved. The ambulance takes him to the emergency rooms and then we meet them there and when he gets back to the place, knowing that he's well taken care of is very comforting. His apartment is pretty standard for one person. It's very pleasant, very nice, and very clean. It's a fairly new facility. It's only been there for like seven years. It was the right size for him. It wasn't too big. Everything is really close by. It's right down the hallway from his apartment. He can use his walker and get everything he needs. Everything's pretty much at his fingertips. They have some outside stuff going on all the time. You can be as busy as you want or you can just take a day off and not get out of your room if you want. He chooses most of the time to participate. It's been a wonderful overall experience for him and it's been very comforting to us as well as his caregivers. They have movies every night, bingo, events, and entertainment sometimes even during certain holidays. Every day, they got something. They got exercise and fun stuff to do. He works out every day. They got a workout room right down the hallway where he's at. He goes on the stationary bike a couple times a day for about 40 minutes. He really loves that. They like him. They call him by his first name. It makes him feel really good. These people are always stopping by and checking on him, and it's just a great situation. He always tells us about his breakfast. He doesn't do lunch too often because he doesn't like three meals a day, and dinner is really good for the most part. It's very clean, very welcoming and very cozy. The big atrium really looks nice and they got a bistro right to the side near their dining room. People hang out there to have refreshments or snacks. It's a really nice setup. It looked very inviting. The events director is one of the best guys I've ever met. He does a wonderful job. They even have football parties when the NFL teams play. They'll have popcorn or wings or something like that. That's usually what they do during the sporting seasons. Value for money is very fair when you consider all the care. He's on level two care. They help them with certain things and his medication and the rent is all included. We checked several places previous to this, and they're right in. They're very competitive. It's very straightforward. Nothing's hidden. They tell you upfront what everything is."

"I toured. It was clean. One of the families was in the bingo room and her mom, so we could look at her room. They took us through the ladies room, and it looked homey in there. The family had done a nice job at setting that up. Everybody there was super friendly, super nice, especially the one who showed us around. She was just a sweetheart. The layout looked good and it didn't feel like a nursing home."

"I looked at various assisted living centers in the Lisle area and I definitely liked Devonshire the most. The reason for this is because of the individual attention given to each patient. Not only are the staff extremely friendly, but it seems like they are genuinely interested in each patient's desires and needs. Additionally, I enjoyed the welcome I received from the staff. The decor and scenery surrounding Devonshire is absolutely what I had in mind when I first considered placing my aunt in an assisted living facility. She loves to go for walks, and this is the perfect place to do that. I wanted to get therapy for my aunt because she lives alone and is a very active person. I wanted her to be able to function at a very high level, without feeling like she was being helped too much. This seems to be the right place for that. "

"We chose American House Cedarlake because it is close to my house. The facility looks very nice and clean, and the residents seem very happy there. The apartments are fantastic, really beautiful, very well-maintained, and very clean. Everything is very good. They do arts and crafts, have bingo, all kinds of board games, and card games. The staff is great. They have a calendar of activities with something going on every day. The dining area is very clean and my mom never complained about the food. I am just a little disappointed that it’s all privately paid; it’s costing me $5,000 a month for my mom to stay there. Nothing is covered by her Medicare or Medicaid. "
