I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Heritage Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center needed to be cleaned. It was older and needed attention. The staff needs to be more attentive. My mother had a stroke, so using her left hand has not been very good. They had her in the dining room but they don't cut up her food and she can't cut up for food. The only good thing about there was Samantha. She was excellent at trying to help us, and Lewis, the therapist. She was very good. Every day somebody comes in, it's a different person. My mother had a fracture in her left leg and because she had to be changed, they would come in every day and manhandle her. Then the next person would come in when the shift changed, and the same thing. Nobody ever coordinated with each other. It was like a new patient, a new place, and they just did whatever.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is in Heritage Healthcare & Rhb Center. It's a horrible place. I think patients are entitled to have more than one shower a week. I think that two nurses for a place that size is ridiculous. Half of the employees that work there don't speak English very well, or they don't want to speak English, one or the other. My husband was diagnosed with COVID, and two days later they decided that you couldn't just go in and visit anymore and that people should be wearing masks. I think that's inappropriate. The day that I received that phone call, I should have been told that you have to gown-up, you have to wear a shield over your face and your mouth, I didn't do any of that until two days later. I was with him those two days, and lucky for me, I didn't have COVID. The food that they served, these people, it's awful. It's cold half the time, a grilled cheese is not grilled, a piece of toast is toasted only on one side. To me, it sounds like a place you go to die. His room, the mattress is about five inches thick. Whenever his roommate was on the floor or stuck in the bathroom, or pooped all over the bathroom, it took forever for anybody to come down. Once in a while, I'll have to stay there because my husband is having his lunch. Majority of the time, I don't want to be there at all. Some people sit in their wheelchairs and nobody's happy over there. You rarely see a smiling face. I know they play bingo a couple of times a week anyway. I know that he is taken downstairs to have some physical therapy. You can take them outside. There's a little area down the stairs that's enclosed. It has tables and chairs. You have to be careful when you sit in the chair, because if you're on the heavy side, you're going to go through the chair. There's umbrellas. One doesn't work and one does. They have like a gazebo. It's so filthy there. I won't really sit in there. I can't find anything positive about that place. As a rule, I don't spend any time indoors. I usually go up, I collect his dirty clothes to bring home to launder myself, and then we go outside. If it's raining I don't go at all because I do not like being inside.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Heritage Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center is not top of the line. My wife is currently in their rehab because it's the only place available in Naples, but we want to move her out. The facility is very old. It's been here as long as I've been in Florida and in this city; that's 40 years. It's fairly clean though. Most (if not everything) is clean. If you look at the sink, there is a stain. It's all rusted. Other than that, they do clean. The floors are nice and shiny with no dirt whatsoever. The staff is fine. When I ask a question, they give me an answer; it's not a one-word answer. They tell me exactly what they're doing. For the most part, she doesn't mind activities, but there are certain activities they want her to do that she's not ready to do yet. They try to insist she does it, but she does not and she tells them she can't do it. They don't want to accept that. Like they want her to stand up, but she can't stand up.
