This is a very large apartment complex, all independent living. The location is pretty good"”close to the suburbs, but near the city, too"”and easily accessible by bus or train. The whole area is going through a major revitalization, with many new family homes nearby, and is much cleaned up from years past. It's now safe and very clean. This is a good example of the affordable housing for seniors that DC has made a push to provide in the last few years. One drawback is that parking is extremely limited, so that can make it difficult for visitors. It's a new building, HUD-funded; residents are low income"”and must be age 62 or older. Inside, it also has a new feel: new kitchens, new baths"”all of a nice size. There's art on the wall, and the décor is gorgeous, in a nice building. The design feels fresh and new, and looks like a luxurious apartment building from the outside. Each unit includes a living, kitchen, bath and bedroom. There are community rooms"”and residents seem to gather in them often to play cards and watch TV. There are no organized activities, but the residents seem to organize some on their own. Residents who live there seem to love it"”and especially appreciate being in a newer, brighter place, as many of them were relocated from dingier places in sketchy parts of town.
