"I felt that this facility was a very nice retirement community. The rooms were nice and the facility itself was very well kept. The staff was always friendly and said hello to us in the halls. The residents seemed like they were cared for and treated kindly and well by all of the nurses and other staff members. The residents had the option to live independently or with assistance which I felt gave them freedom to the usual nursing home. There were not one but two dining rooms for the residents to eat. The staff in each room was nice and the food was good. It seemed like they always had activities and events for residents to participate in and encouraged them meeting new people and trying new things. I thought the facility was very accommodating to all of the residents and their needs. Our family friend seems to enjoy where he is staying and is well taken care of. "

" I visited this facility with my mom. This is an older type of facility but it was updated. It was very clean, has a nice walking trail with trees all around and it was surprisingly quiet. The studio rooms were very small; however, the single bedroom had a nice size with a little dining area with a stove. The staff was really nice and they were mostly locals. I haven't seen the residents doing the activities but I heard they have a lot. For instance, they organize outings to different local attractions, play card games, go to movies and even trips overseas. "

"We loved Manor at York Town. It felt like a boutique hotel. The staff was very friendly. They have a coffee shop, they have a bar, and they have a beautiful indoor pool. The grounds were great, and from our point of view, we liked the fact that it was very small. The accommodations were apartments, and they had a good selection of single-bedroom to two-bedroom-and-den. We ate there, and the food was 5. If you choose to have meals, you get a budget and you can use it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner."

"Shepherd’s Crossing is very close to where I live right now. I know other people that live there very happily. The staff was very fine, and I like the fact that I can have my own home with a two-bedroom which is quite lovely. "

"My father's parents were residents at Paul's Run for almost five years until they both passed within a few months of each other. They were in the independent living section, which means they had their own apartment; one bedroom, one bathroom, galley kitchen, living room/dining room. They had access to the outside via a small patio and their front door was off a hallway that provided easy access to the dining room, recreational areas, and gift shop. The staff were nice, the building was fairly well kept and the grounds were always clean and tidy. Both of my father's parents died suddenly, so neither one of them spent any time in the assisted living or nursing home areas of the facility, so I can't really comment on those sections of the community. The food was all right; not five star gourmet by any means, but not terrible either; think cafeteria. Whenever we visited we were made to feel welcome by staff and there were usually activities being held in the main recreational area. One small thing that I liked was that are built-in benches and seating areas along some of the halls, making it easy for people to sit and chat or stop for a moment if they need to catch their breath, as I frequently saw some of the elderly folks there do. Pauls Run is an older community, as far as the age of the building but it is maintained in decent shape. There's plenty of parking and visiting hours are fairly flexible and family time and activities/outings as feasible are encouraged. "

"We visited Rydal Park and it was beautiful. We just can't afford to sell our house right now and make a profit so we're going to wait a couple of years. "

"My mother is having physical therapy at Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. They have long-term care, personal care, and physical therapy unit. They have people who just retired, and they have apartments there, too. I was pleased with it. Everything is clean. They're really thorough. They clean a lot and you can tell. It's two people in a room, but it's divided by a wall, so it gives her own little nook and it's cozy. They have a lot of activities. We're pleased and she's pleased. They have people performing, exercise class, Catholic mass, and a hair salon. She likes the way that they're helping her. She has to have her food pureed, and they've bent over backwards to figure all it out for her. She said the food is delicious."

"I liked them. The place was very clean, very nice, and up-to-date. They had all sorts of activities to do. The apartments were very nice but too far from the dining room. The staff was very nice, but I was put off by the walk to the dining room."

"The whole atmosphere at Gwynedd Estates was nice. The staff was friendly and seemed competent. The apartments were a little small, but they're nice. I had lunch, and it was fine. There were a lot of activities. "

"I didn't have to put out a whole lot of money when I first came in here at Phoebe Wyncote. They care about people and helping people. My room is very neat. They come and clean it, make up my bed, and do my laundry. They do all of that. The staff is very nice, very friendly, and very accommodating. They have bingo, church service, reading rooms, games, and exercises. They have a lot of activities."

"Masonic Home was excellent in everything. They catered to everything and had spaces for people. It was really good. I was impressed. They would take residents out to places. You could eat in or if you were able to walk, you could walk into the cafeteria where you could order, and they would bring the food to you. Overall, it was really pleasant. "

"Spring House is not too large and offers bus service and great social life. The food was very good. The 1-bedroom apartments were small, but it was enough for my aunt. The amenities, the sense of community -- she wasn’t alone anymore -- and the value stand out. "
